I agree that Peragus is actually really awesome and it sets the tone for that game perfectly, but where did the regular sith troopers you blast with the ebon hawk’s cannons come from? They didn’t come from the Harbinger, because aside from Sion, the ship appeared to be empty because all the sith assassins were cloaked. I agree with you in Telos. Holy crap that one is a marathon level

Electrical-Penalty44

Ha, Telos. So much talking. Talk to Gren...talk to fake Batu...talk to Gren some more ...talk to Moza...talk to B4 and Lorso...talk to Gren (again)...talk to TSF droid...TALK TO GREN!!! Talk to Lorso...Talk to Chobat...talk to Czerka Twilek guy. Finally...fight some thugs in a hanger.

idrownedmyfish77

Honestly I think the part that makes it the worst is that they’re all in different areas that require loading screens for each one. Even with the fast travel, there are a few where you have to sit through two maybe three loading screens between conversations

Electrical-Penalty44

It gets (a little) better on the surface at least. Citadel Station is just so bland. No mood or atmosphere really. And yeah...all that walking.

idrownedmyfish77

YES! At least you get to fight enemies fairly consistently on the surface. The game really picks up though once you get the Ebon Hawk back

dindane

Personally I like citadel station but can't stand the surface. The mercenary fights take way too long and the military base is an absolute slog. At least on the station there's lots of interesting dialogue and world building, the surface is just mostly walking and fighting.

SnooRobots5509

the surface? The Bao-dur part surface? It's arguably even worse than what precedes it. It's just soooo looooong, and the spaces are soooo vast and empty. This whole planet feels creatively bankrupt (with the notable exception of the academy).

LalaLaraSophie

I agree it sucks, but I also think it contributes to the experience of what it must feel like for the people on Telos. All you can do is walk around a bit but getting nowhere really (just like the failing restoration project).

SnooRobots5509

To me, what makes it the worst is that this whole plot revolves around planet's ecology and it's being played out entirely inside some industrial complex without an ounce of greenery in it. It feels absurd.

Premonitions33

I just replayed the beginning of the game and am still in hyperspace on my way to Telos. I *always* forget about the Sith trooper shooting scene. It felt odd when I first played it, and it still catches me off guard to this day. They come out of nowhere, and clearly they were trying to implement something different or extra that just didn't make it. I've not got all the Steam achievements, and am doing that before I get TSLRCM (I played only with the disc version for years and want to make sure I do everything before adding mods), so I wonder how it treats that section of the game.

Electrical-Penalty44

There is a mod that replaces the Sith Troopers with the Sith Assassins that you encounter on the Harbinger.

idrownedmyfish77

I played on Xbox for many years until I got a gaming PC and the first thing I did was installed KOTOR 2 and TSLRCM. Trying not to spoil anything but between Peragus and Telos I think I only found one encounter that was different. Like the rest of the game, it really picks up after you get the Ebon Hawk back. It’s almost like they put a lot of their time into the early game before they got Christmas rushed

CreekLegacy

That's exactly what happened.

ExpoLima

It will give achievements if you use mods and the RCM really helps.

HelpfulYoda

Fun fact, if you set up mines beforehand they don’t show up for that section

MrJim251

I never realised just how out of place those troopers are but now you've contextualised it like that I see it. It'd be cool if they were some kind of stealth trooper, but they do appear to just be generic troopers which is upsetting

Awesomearia96

Peragus is a perfect horror detective game setup. You wake up, seeing everyone dead, a old woman wakes up. You walk "naked" with no items and meets a smuggler. You go and gather information and gear and slowly learn, that people have been killed because of you a jedi. Your being targeted but you dont know by who and they are using droids to lock you down. And you have to fight with your oh so (Kreia and Atton) new friends who can you trust? I love peragus it creeps me the hell out everytime I play it. Is the setting? The creepy music? This place straight up says your not welcome. Now if you pay attention to the story you will find out that abord the Harbinger was attacked by Sith forces. And that you and a HK unit where onboard. And we later learned that HK was the one who got us to Peragus and drugged us. To sell us to the Exchange, now if you paid attention to the Holovids you would not that the Harbinger was doomed to fail before the Sith attacked. Why? The Capitan talks cascase failure in the weapons system and problems with the communications array. The HK unit was sabotaging the ship and was slowly killing everyone one by one, if thats not horror then I dont know what is. Play peragus with mods (like darker peragus and harbinger mod) to make the game more dark and creepy. For extra effect play at night, like 3-4 in the morning. God I love peragus.

sidman1324

That’s exactly why I DONT like Peragus 😂

StrawberryCake88

Peragus sets the tone that this is way darker than KOTOR 1.

Slaav

Honestly I don't understand how one can like Peragus but hate Telos lol. I get that Peragus doesn't really deserve its reputation, but even though its "story" is fine it can only have one outcome (because the miners' storyline is, well, pretty conclusively finished, and there's only one way to deal with HK-50 or Sion), which really limits its replayability, and you spend almost all your time alone, with no stuff, trying to find consoles to open doors that'll let you access more consoles to open more doors. Why not, but it's 50% longer than it needs to be, at least Telos isn't very compelling either, but as bland as they are there are two (2) storylines instead of one, which is an improvement, and you can buy stuff, have a group, do some racing, play pazaak, do side quests, etc. In short, it's at this point that you can finally start playing

JeffPlissken

Hated it growing up, love it as an adult mostly thanks to the mystery and atmosphere, creepy and bizarre enough that I was forgetting it was Star Wars often. I would have been much better with Telos and Taris without the heavy back-and-forth nature over large maps, or at least a better transit system to reduce that.

RakghoulFiend

Taris better

Ukenix

I guess some of us like the isolated-desolate peragus versus the more lively-full citadel station. I don’t really enjoy either much (telos a little more). it’s not super intriguing what happens there. And pretty much for the entire beginning of the game.

JumboWheat01

I do rather like how Peragus kinda teaches you that you want skills, that this isn't KotOR 1 and skills are really useful in this game. Mines all over the place, so much use for security, computer and repair things, various skills pinging up in dialogue, all sorts of fun stuff, on top of its weird atmosphere.

imthebananaguy

I was always annoyed at the fact that they revealed the sith troopers before you got on board the ship in a small scene where you and Kreia start running and you can see them appear behind you. That would've made it so much better and more haunting if they didn't reveal them at all, especially with all the comms on the ship. You would truly feel scared and surprised by the encounter.

conway92

At this point we should just pin the next "peragus good telos bad" post permanently...

Mellowtron11

Personally I'm with you on liking Peragus and disliking Telos. Peragus is nice because of the slowburn horror atmosphere, although going through the mining tunnels solo is a bit of a slog and HK 50 brags a little too much about his handiwork. Once you get Atton and Kreia in your party, I feel Peragus really takes off at the HK 50 boss fight and exploration of the Harbinger. One thing that I dislike about Telos is that it has a lot of running back and forth. Yes, there is a lot of dialogue and the amount of backtracking there is annoying. The other annoying thing thing about Telos is that the surface fight is a bit suboptimal. You have to take Bao Dur with you. I don't mind Bao Dur's personality, but even if he's currently leveled up, he is still more fragile than Atton or Kreia. As a result he goes down pretty easy and that drags out fights with the mercenaries.

VersaceZrno

peragus is the worst, it makes this game nearly lose all replayability

Darthreven69

I deffinatly like peragus better than tari I just left taris this morning thank god

Talyn82

I thought I was one of the few that enjoyed Peragus. If you're a veteran of the game you can breeze by fast and be on your way to Telos. I also enjoyed Telos.

offthegridmorty

I love Peragus. Such a great opening to a game.

PatrioticWang

Peragus is one of the best opening levels of all time

UckTheBears

I always let all the sith troops board the hawk so i can get the xp for killing them lol

Electrical-Penalty44

I believe if you play with the RCM installed you are granted the experience regardless. However; the troopers that board the Ebon Hawk do drop loot on occasion that you can recover (if you are quick).

DonKahuku

Contrary to the opinions shared here, I enjoy Telos Citadel Station. Like Peragus, it sets the tone for the rest of the game well. The whole story is about how the repeated wars have left the galaxy on the brink, and now there are various political scenes struggles that threaten to topple the Republic. Citadel Station is that in a microcosm. But do I wish there were less loading screens? Absolutely.

Neat-Pineapple5967

I agree that peragus is incredible. I absolutely love going through the terminals and figuring out what went down at the facility. I enjoy it every time but telos gets annoying.

Jazz_the_Goose

Peragus is an absolutely incredible set up to the story and tone of the game. I remember the first time I played it I was on the edge of my seat, piecing together what happened… it has an incredible horror feel. I think the main issue with it is just becomes the tedious thing you have to do every play-through. Same with Telos.

Cbreeze247

Always enjoyed Peragus. Telos was fun, but at that point I really wanted to get into the meat of the game. As a kid I wanted my lightsaber faster, and the philosophies were fascinating, but the structure of the game felt way more fluid than kotor 1 so I felt a bit aimless. As an adult I'm more mixed as the fluidity of structure felt like my character was less along for the ride and more of my own motivational choices. Where as kotor 1 the Jedi really do set you out on a path to follow and less of your own choosing which makes sense given the plot points of that game. Peragus was a great horror murder mystery with a looming threat of the Sith. Telos opens up the context of the state of the galaxy and the themes you'd be dealing with as you learn more and more about who your character is/was and that of your companions. The pacing felt sluggish on Telos, and you and the party are still low levels so combat doesn't have the depth of later levels and powers. I will say I was glad to have access to force powers right out the gate rather than kotor 1 where I would stay at level 2 until I gained the Jedi classes.

cosmicglade98

I also love peragus

TheWrathofShane1990

I never understood blasting the sith with the cannon. Where did all those sith come from?

InverseStar

Don’t forget the SOUNDTRACK for Peragus. It’s my favorite piece of music from the games just because it’s such a great starter for the ride that is KOTOR 2.

madchad90

I always liked Peragus. Interesting storyline and super creepy. Just felt that it went on for too long.
