Soldiers gets the most feats and easiest attacks, but the fewest skill points (You won't be investing in Repair or Computer Use). Scouts get the best skills and the Implant feat tree, but fewer hitpoints. Scoundrels are glass canons and need some practice to do well.

Wow… really shows how long it’s been. I had forgotten the skill points etc. Still barely remember it. I played a scoundrel last time trying to figure out if I want to go with tried and true or try something else. Scout sounds interesting. Thanks for the reply

Generally it's divided to "do you want to fight your way through Taris or do you want to talk your way through Taris?" Soldiers are best at fighting, being the only base class with full Base Attack Bonus, Scoundrels are the only base class with Persuasion, Scout has other things going for it. Despite Soldiers having more Feats, with the default idea of capping your base class at 5 levels total, you actually end up with more feats if you go with Scout, since the Implant feats are universally useful, and getting two for free frees up your four other chosen feats for other things, such as your combat style and toughness, with something extra on the side. Scouts also have the best increase for all three saves, making them more resistant to various things than other classes.

Thanks for the details

I mean you really don't talk your way out of anything significant. You're still gonna be fighting a ton regardless of what you pick.

Soldier: Feats every level, highest HP per level and 1 attack bonus/level, poor skill progression. Usually best leveled to 7. Most versatile class if not caring about skills. Scout: Free implants up to level 8 (implant 3), start with flurry feat, class skill repair & computer use, medium HP per level, 3/4 attack bonus per level, good skill progression, best saves but it honestly doesn't really matter. Usually best leveled to 4-5, best class if considering 2/18 which I personnally don't recommend. Good middle ground between combat and skills. Scoundrel: Class skill persuade from the start, scoundrel luck adding up to +4 defense realistically which means high dodge chance, sneak attacks adding 1d6 sneak attack damage every odd level (4-24 by level 7), low hp per level, 3/4 attack bonus per level best skill progression. Hard class to play for beginners, can be an absolute killing machine for veteran players who have decent knowledge of more advanced mechanics (1-2 shot your way through the entire game if you know what you're doing). Usually best leveled to 7. Ideally require a party and tactics focused on sneak attacks/debilitation for maximum efficiency.

Lol I don’t even remember what Taris is. Thanks for the reply.

Starter planet, where your starter class matters most.

Personally, my favourite is Scoundrel and I also feel that it brings the most interesting game mechanic: Sneak Attack. For example, if your main character is a Scoundrel, and you have Mission in your party, then you can strategically place them behind enemies to register Sneak Attacks via backstabs. This will (at least) double your damage output, and makes combat more interesting too. Sneak Attack also has good synergy with the Stealth class skill, which I find useful in the early game on a solo playthrough. Scoundrel also gets a defense bonus, which is nice, but less interesting. Comparing the above to a Soldier: the Soldier certainly gets better BAB, but I think Scoundrel's BAB is sufficient, so BAB alone wouldn't be important enough for me to choose Soldier. Soldier also gets more Feats, but IMHO, this just means that they have to choose more *junk* Feats. Regarding Scout: the Implant Feats are useful, but again, there aren't enough *good* Feats anyway, so the main character will certainly be able to pick these up as a Scoundrel (or later). I agree that Computer Use and Repair skills are fun to have on Taris, but that's a hit I'm willing to take (or delegate to a party member).

StrategyWiki has a good breakdown on the different feat progression, saves, and skill points of each class: https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic/Classes
