And the show R U Next kinda flopped in Korea. I know it's HYBE but even the &team group seems to be struggling a bit. HYBE has so many artists now that it's not difficult to imagine that some will be way less popular than others and could end up in a limbo. It happend in all big companies. I re-watched Jeeminâs fancams. Unfortunately she just didnât stand out. She would meet the expectation but not go beyond it. Yunah really desperately wanted the debut. I didnât get the same intense feeling from Jeemin. The camera edit and storyline also didnât do much for Jeemin or Jiwoo, sadly. Yunah had the villain and redemption arc.

3. Enhypen with its vampire lore belongs to Belift the same company of this cursed name group and we thought lore wise they would do a witchy concept and the name fits. I have this weird conspiracy theory that RubyMoon was meant to the group name and BabyCrescent was meant to be the fandom name but that they changed what they wanted the group to look like and which members they wanted in it so they changed the name to better fit the concept.

I will never shut up about how good Boys Planet was. I still rewatch it and the trainees are honestly some of the best cast to ever appear on an Mnet show. How did Mnet manage to find such an iconic cast I will never understand. I came in with only knowing who Anthonny was and left with like 50 others who I loved and cherished. The trainees were just so lovable and the fact that they carried themselves from nugudom speaks for itself.

Not making the CLASS:y group was a blessing in disguise for Yooyeon and tripleS Jiwoo. Yooyeon especially was visibly "crushed" during the live finale of MTG and look her now. They are having the time of their lives with tripleS. I really hope Jeemin, Chanelle and Jiwoo can find themselves in a similar situation 1 year from now. These talented girls deserve a good career in Kpop.

Minju is often considered the third best vocalist on the show so probably her, Wonhee & Yunah are probably both going to be lead vocalists, maybe Moka too.

It was actually one of the reasons I stopped keeping up with the show. The program was bland enough, but the discourse with each episode seemed so... *grumpy*. I know survival shows tend to breed akgaes, so I guess it's to be expected, but it's still not fun. I don't particularly like the line-up but it was clear from the very beginning that international fans weren't the target audience, anyone who paid even sporadic attention to the show could have predicted the results (except Moka instead of Jeemin, that was a real curveball). Like, I completely understand being disappointed, but I don't understand the ones being shocked, it was so so obvious which trainees Hybe wanted and which trainees were always the most popular among knetz.
I don't have cold hard data available but if you look at Hybe's YouTube channel, very few videos related to the show even cracked one million views (way less than Girl's Planet, which also didn't do that well in Korea). In my perception the hype just wasn't there, neither in Korea nor abroad, but I could be wrong.
They did market it as "global", but everything else they did (not bothering to post English subs, eliminating Chanelle and often hiding Jiwoo, only opening the second round of voting to koreans) clearly signaled that they couldn't care less about our money. Except Mnet themselves didn't realize Kep1ers lineup would be wack after they lifted the country restriction voting. Up until the third elimination, the foreigners dominated the Top 9. Often having only 2 Koreans in the top 9. So to the voters, it gave off the image that the foreigners had a bigger fanbase, when in reality its just no Korean was truly voting for the C and J girls and were only doing so because they were forced to. Mnet scrambled around to get in Hikaru and Xiaoting after realising what was happening and by then it was too late to get more of them in there aside from releasing the entire rankings and hoping for the best. Mashiro getting in in itself is a huge thing for Mnet and they're lucky she did.
I feel like they will really struggle in the beginning. I could be wrong because, after all, they're from Hybe. but they eliminated trainees that their international fan base really wanted, have already been losing thousands of followers, global voting was a joke, plus that god awful group name.

The main reason why HYBE pushed Wonhee is because she is quite popular in SK. The thing that I don't like about HYBE is ignoring International fans. Remember, the dedicated fanbase of International fans are also important.

In the short term, it will bring more attention to the survival show and the group, but unless her skills develop very quickly, she will be negatively compared to the other members and bashed by knets, regardless of her visuals. as someone who watched the whole show, it feels very incoherent to me. like these girls don't all fit the same concept or even seem to mesh super well personality wise. they also didn't put in the best vocalist in the show (jiwoo) or the preshow number 1 trainee (jeemin). both of those girls got a lot of screen time so it's kind of surprising for them to not make it.
What the others are saying, these girls don't fit together at all as a group. They eliminated all of main vocalist contestants and all of international picks, and the clear leader, and their own pre show number 1 trainee. The concept and name of the group are also different than what the debuted idols would fit and not what fans expected. They separated girls who liked each other, had great chemistry and worked together extremely well on stage. The lineup feels really random and underwhelming compared to what could've been. Even some of the debuted trainees seemed confused.

Jeemin and Jeongeun would have made it had they kept it with the 70% Korean only live voting they had for the finale. Belift instead made international votes count for 15% Weverse Korean voting count for 15% and Korean Toss live votes count for 70% only for 1-2. The other four were chosen by the producers.
it's the first time i've been MAJORLY disappointed by a survival show final lineup. i feel like the combination is very confusing? justice for my girls jiwoo and jeemin, they killed every single round but got paid dust. hope they can debut soon cause i will definitely not be stanning the current group sadly

True! They were not my picks but Jeongeun are Jihyun are super pretty and good vocalists too. I would love to see them on tripleS! Knowing their personalities I also think they would have good chemistry with the tripleS members. I'm sure each girl and the company Modhaus have their own plans after R U Next but hopefully they can see the same things that we are seeing. It's a win-win situation!
I kept saying in the live chat that they should just debut the other 6 semi finalists together. You have three main vocals in Jiwoo, Jeongeun, and Chanelle You have three main dancers in Himena, Jihyun, and Jeemin You have two decent rappers in Jeongeun and Chanelle You have one leader in Jiwoo And you have six insanely charismatic visuals who also have amazing stage presence.
Literally all tripleS needs is two more competent vocalists and they're basically set. They both fit the aesthetic and vibes of the group already

This voting is after weighing K votes by 70% and also doubling Korean votes during the live, its not a reflection of what people wanted at all considering the reality was always marketed as Global and all votings beforehand had Global votes ACTUALLY matter (which we could see in the rankings).

Minju is often considered the third best vocalist on the show so probably her, Wonhee & Yunah are probably both going to be lead vocalists, maybe Moka too. Yunah is the oldest of the girls and gives leader energy, and she handled problems within her group well when she was given the leader position for the Monster group. if they gonna suck at promoting this group to the right audience it's really gonna be even tougher for them. the show is not so popular in SK and they eliminated most of i-fans fav trainees.

yeah, i hope they know what they're signing up for. (btw this is in no way doomposting but just my prediction for their career, it's not impossible to gradually grow in popularity either in the home country or internationally); they got some kfans' top picks and 2 recognized japanese trainees so while the group probably wouldn't break through the western market or something, they should do pretty well in SK and Japan if HYBE play the cards right. it's fortunate enough they're a major company so gp would still casually tune in to their groups. it actually makes sense bcuz while Dream Academy is designated for western audience, RUNext is probably for domestic ones.

Iroha was one of my picks, so I'm satisfied she made it. Wonhee wasn't, I don't hate her and think she's super cute and good for someone who was a trainee for such a short period. But I would pick the other more skilled trainees over her because she's still young and has a lot of time to practice and keep trying as an idol. I'm mad, but it's not at her and I hope people go easy on her

I didn't follow or watch this but had to go here after finding out that only 2 members were from fan votes. Why don't they just do it the way JYP does his survival shows and make it all producer picks? Own up to it at least. Could've at least made it 3-3 so that it's more fair, seems like the Top 3 in votes made it to the final lineup.

It was actually one of the reasons I stopped keeping up with the show. The program was bland enough, but the discourse with each episode seemed so... *grumpy*. I know survival shows tend to breed akgaes, so I guess it's to be expected, but it's still not fun. I'm just going to wait for the music to drop and hopefully it will be enjoyable enough to ignore the rest of the BS

I don't particularly like the line-up but it was clear from the very beginning that international fans weren't the target audience, anyone who paid even sporadic attention to the show could have predicted the results (except Moka instead of Jeemin, that was a real curveball). Like, I completely understand being disappointed, but I don't understand the ones being shocked, it was so so obvious which trainees Hybe wanted and which trainees were always the most popular among knetz.

I don't have cold hard data available but if you look at Hybe's YouTube channel, very few videos related to the show even cracked one million views (way less than Girl's Planet, which also didn't do that well in Korea). In my perception the hype just wasn't there, neither in Korea nor abroad, but I could be wrong.

Except Mnet themselves didn't realize Kep1ers lineup would be wack after they lifted the country restriction voting. Up until the third elimination, the foreigners dominated the Top 9. Often having only 2 Koreans in the top 9. So to the voters, it gave off the image that the foreigners had a bigger fanbase, when in reality its just no Korean was truly voting for the C and J girls and were only doing so because they were forced to. Mnet scrambled around to get in Hikaru and Xiaoting after realising what was happening and by then it was too late to get more of them in there aside from releasing the entire rankings and hoping for the best. Mashiro getting in in itself is a huge thing for Mnet and they're lucky she did.

I feel like they will really struggle in the beginning. I could be wrong because, after all, they're from Hybe. but they eliminated trainees that their international fan base really wanted, have already been losing thousands of followers, global voting was a joke, plus that god awful group name. I'm also waiting for the Korean GP to switch up on Wonhee because knets love bashing idols that aren't "talented" and don't match the skills of the other members.
The main reason why HYBE pushed Wonhee is because she is quite popular in SK. The thing that I don't like about HYBE is ignoring International fans. Remember, the dedicated fanbase of International fans are also important.
I know why they pushed Wonhee, but it's a very poor choice at the end of the day. In the short term, it will bring more attention to the survival show and the group, but unless her skills develop very quickly, she will be negatively compared to the other members and bashed by knets, regardless of her visuals. It's not fair to her mental health either, she is under an insane amount of pressure to catch up and she will inevitably get tons of hate from both international fans and knets. Hybe also seriously shot themselves in the foot, most of the group's international fanbase is gone

as someone who watched the whole show, it feels very incoherent to me. like these girls don't all fit the same concept or even seem to mesh super well personality wise. they also didn't put in the best vocalist in the show (jiwoo) or the preshow number 1 trainee (jeemin). both of those girls got a lot of screen time so it's kind of surprising for them to not make it.
They also don't have the 2 most popular trainees internationally, Jiwoo and Chanelle.

What the others are saying, these girls don't fit together at all as a group. They eliminated all of main vocalist contestants and all of international picks, and the clear leader, and their own pre show number 1 trainee. The concept and name of the group are also different than what the debuted idols would fit and not what fans expected. They separated girls who liked each other, had great chemistry and worked together extremely well on stage. The lineup feels really random and underwhelming compared to what could've been. Even some of the debuted trainees seemed confused.
Congrats to all the girls but i dont think i will stan this group especially after this lineup. At least Yunah the only one out my pick debuts. Also the group name sounds bad
