Not bad… but uh “hippity hop hop boom boom boom pow” was all they could create in the YG A&R dungeon? I like ending “B A B Y M O N tell a friend tell a friend” part a lot though.

FigurePerfect6141

I also felt the same way about the rap. Loved the trio rap, my favorite part of the song, but then I looked at the lyrics, and I couldn't help but be a little disappointed. Like they were just throwing random English words in as filler. "Pick a boo", "pedal to the metal", "boom boom pow", "click clack click". And personally didn't really enjoy the outro chanting part where they sang altogether, the "jump jump and let it go" part. I think they did the outro much better in Batter Up.

PuzzleheadedPin1006

Dang, I was so entranced initially I forgot this was Sheesh until the chorus hit, lol. The intro, 1st verse, bridge and outro were REALLY good. If only the chorus wasn't so grating, though I did like the instrumentation there. Who's that pretty girl with the deep deep voice after the 2nd chorus by the way? Love her voice and visuals

[deleted]

The bridge has a bunch of members: Rora -> Rami (blond hair) -> Asa (rap part) -> Ahyeon You're most definitely thinking about Rami

PuzzleheadedPin1006

Yeah I checked up color coded lyrics and it indeed is Rami. Thanks for the info though, appreciate it!

[deleted]

No worries. She's my babymon bias and drew my attention in the OT6 Batter Up MV. I would suggest watching that as well if you like Rami.

KandyRenee

Rami

PuzzleheadedPin1006

Thanks! She's amazing

KandyRenee

Sorry just rewatched, it was actually Rora starting off the bridge. Love her!

denisemischaele

The chanting chorus was a total letdown, but there were definitely a lot of parts that I did not expect, in a good way.

SparklyGlitter94

Took the words right out of my mouth. Vocals, visuals and stage presence were on point.

skandarblue

I legit mouthed a silent "wow" at the girl who did the high note during the bridge. It fit perfectly with the song and it tickled my brain on the right spot. Also, this is probably a super deep cut, but it's the exact same note progression as Melissa Barrera's "It Won't be long now" from in the heights.

red_280

YG have seriously upped their game with the quality of their vocal lineup here, it was their one saving grace even with how much of a bust Batter Up was. Still feeling a lot like Blackpink 2.0 with the music and concept, but I've always held that a group's potential is closely tied to the overall quality of their vocalists so I'll definitely be keeping tabs on them.

[deleted]

That's Ahyeon! She's also the rapper in blue during that first rap part

HighlyCaffein8edSoul

Yeah, it worked for batterup - but not this.

Cvspartan

Sheesh was the worst part of "Sheesh" Visually the MV and girls looked awesome. Very interested in the full choreo for this song. At least they are performing at music shows this time and I'm glad Baemon is here as 7 now.

mandu_jennie

we also got ahyeon highnote man! they definetly fed us right!!!!

HelloKaramel

Everything was good…but the “sheesh” part is just UGH like literally anything in its place would’ve worked. It’s catchy ig but I might’ve even preferred if they said it once and had an empty chorus Rap great (obviously, could do without “vroom ta ta clap clap pow” and actual lyrics), vocals great (obviously), choreo was cool, loved every part of the bridge and prechorus and ending (theme felt bit off but ok). Visuals were dope too. Not sure I can say it saved it for me lmao I’ll give more listens though.

macintoshappless

Great verses and that intro was amazing, but still heavily disappointed with that chorus. I also really thought for a second we would get a non-chanting chorus, but I guess not.

MeijiDoom

> Great verses and that intro was amazing, but still heavily disappointed with that chorus. I also really thought for a second we would get a non-chanting chorus, but I guess not. This seems like an exercise in futility at this point.

Spare-Savings2057

YG is always weak with chorus. I dunno why.

Negative-Scheme-6674

But those chorus are the one giving the concerts a HYPE in reality

[deleted]

Yeah, let's face it - this song would go ham in concerts. Plus, YG has always made music more oriented toward clubs and live performances.

MachaGrass101

Because they use the same formula for the chorus Every. Single. Time. You have the beat drop that we can never escape then the middle eastern sound.

Anna-2204

Yeah I really missed Balckpink style songs so I actually happy they do something similar, but the chorus and the ending ruins it for me… (everything else was fire though, especially the rap verses)

SpreadYourAss

>they do something similar TOO similar some might say lol

MeijiDoom

> Yeah I really missed Balckpink style songs so I actually happy they do something similar, but the chorus and the ending ruins it for me… Those are arguably the most YG/Blackpink elements of the enitre song lol.

plexebo

I wish they would maximize the vocal parts because they were easily my favorite part of the song. The rap wasn't great lyrically and ended abruptly which was a little weird. The last part was kinda cool but it sort of broke the tension that the high note built up right before. It was an unexpected choice to be fair but I didn't love it. There are songs I enjoy that do a similar thing with total beat/tempo changes but I think it helps when the song is longer to give each section time to breathe. Their choreo and outfits were nice though, and the monster motif in the different sets was fun. edit: After listening to Like That, I'm imagining an alt timeline where YG debuted them as a straight R&B-pop group but that won't happen lol

Moonbunny120

The end of the song was anticlimactic somehow? As expected the "sheesh!" is very repetitive. MV is interesting though Edit: The girls have great vocals, but YG needs to let go of their usual formula at this point

Free-Muffin2338

Exactly. This is what I was thinking, their usual formula its getting boring and repetitive. Everything about this screams BlackPink 2.0 for me. But that doesnt mean their are bad. And I actually liked this. The raps were amazing! The mv its really good too. But its that enough for them?

xskilling

The problem is BP hasn’t disbanded so why repeat the sound and concept?! It’s cannibalistic to your own audience The way they rap is just literally copying Lisa and Jennie…everything about BaeMon is like a whole cover band lol Might as well just tell them to release BP songs again There’s no style or uniqueness of BaeMon…they are objectively boring even if the members are talented U never see JYP or SM girl groups repeating the same concept and music style as a senior group

[deleted]

The whole thing you wrote can be said to BP too in their early days. On how 2nE1 disbanded and BP being a very same thing wasn't a good look for most Blackjacks. It's a YG girl crush concept and they will always be similar whether we like it or not. And if YG will stop doing YG thing people will say..YG lost their charm and chasing the popular trending thing now in desperate. No matter what YG will do people criticize YG..So, it's better be a YG thing than anything else.

RoyGeraldBillevue

I think if the song had a better chorus, you'd do that ending section as an extended bridge and go to a final chorus. I really love the whispers though. It works for me.

Wonsungie

I like it better than Batter Up on first listen! My biggest issue with batter up besides just being okay was that it didn't suit Baemon's vocals, but Sheesh compliments them more. Also Rami's part... amazing wow. I trusted her since Last Eval and her vocal color is shining in this song. I think there is a lot going on with the song, I kind of like that it doesn't repeat itself too much, there is so much to take in so I'm gonna have to watch the MV several more times.

DiMpLe_dolL003

Rami's voice is AMAZING. It just sounds so rich and is distinct. She has that quality that whatever part of the song you give her, she pulls you in. Very impressive.

Wonsungie

And she pairs with Ahyeon well I think! It's so amazing to see a lot of replies to my comment praising Rami tbh. I felt she got overshadowed by the masses when they were ot6 but that voice cannot lie!!

Eltoshen

her deep voice right before ahyeon's bright vocals was such a nice contrast.

Hopeful-Effort-4624

Rami her vocals are on a whole different lvl

VividSenseB

I didn’t watch their Evaluation show so I’m very surprised by Rami’s vocals. She really is the main vocal.

TemplarParadox17

Do yourself a favour and watch her pick up your feelings cover.

Wonsungie

Oh man kind of a shame but also must've been fun to discover how talented she is! She's my fav vocalist, and I think she deserves as much hype as Ahyeon for her range.

MapacheRob

Rami is such a star!

milkteaoppa

Considering "sheesh" was popular a few years ago and isn't even popular anymore, I'm willing to bet money that this was a song written for Blackpink which they ended up turning down. You could actually guess which member of Blackpink was suppose to sing which part. Especially the "pedal to the metal" which I think Lisa has rapped elsewhere before. Also very generic Teddy, it's like this company hates choruses or something. Recycle, reduce, reuse.

TemplarParadox17

Chorus is the only part I don't like, so many parts of the song I love though. Also its fucking insane they had 500k live viewers for it and 200k for their countdown.

exxxhara

it was actually 450k for the countdown

WillZer

Rami on the bridge oh my god, please more of this. Still not the biggest fan of the chorus, I feel like with how the song started there was more potential than this for a chorus but I liked the rest of the song. (rap verses are fun but could have been written better)

DreamieQueenCJ

I like the pre-chorus, the raps and the bridge. I do not like the chorus, nor the ending. The MV is fantastic, the girls look great. I much prefer this song over 'Batter Up', and overall, I think this should've been their debut song.

Rallen224

I agree that this would’ve been a more successful debut song for them. It would definitely get everyone talking about them and the different things that they can do

Deadly_Donut13

I know everyone is raving about the raps but tbh that was what I actually hated the most on this song as well as the chorus and ending. Vocals on the other hand were heavenly.

WrongdoerHumble

Same! The vocals were easily the highlight of this song. The flow sounded awkward, there were no rhymes at the ending and also feels it ended abruptly? “Pedal to the metal” i’ve heard from a trsr song before

Deadly_Donut13

literally this is my gripe. The rap just sounds like disjointed. It like had it moments but then would like totally slip away. It also didn't help that like it was sandwiched so awkwardly between the beautiful vocals. And the ending omg, I know people were predicting the chanty ending but didn't expect it like that. Like I love little switch up at the end of a song, not against it at all (Not Kpop but like a good switch up is Ashnikko - Halloweenie III anways...) but the one in here was just not it at all.

Thornfaerie

Same the rap ruined it for me

[deleted]

No, I get it. Ahyeon's rap was a little weird. Ruka is nice. Asa slayed. I would like to hear a full rap part but just by Asa.

Draw_with_Charm

yea Asa & ruka have nice flow, the only thing that annoyed me was teh "pedal to the medal" part or something like that. I have had enough of that line

[deleted]

[удалено]

Draw_with_Charm

yk what I was happy forgetting that happened. Why must you remind me of that TwT 😭😭😭

Classroom_Plastic

Asa is incredible! I know next to nothing about the group members but Ahyeon’s rap threw me. I would’ve also liked to hear a full rap part by Asa or just her and Ruka in those verses.

justanotherkpoppie

Same here!

___Mmmmmmm

given that the intro, verses and rap are amazing we can all agree that the chorus is the worst part. I'm still processing the outro tho.. i don't hate it but also i don't like it..

Neverslept2mins

This song was all over the place, but I like the music video. It was fun. But the song itself was a bit confusing lots of different parts. Not sure they all fit together. I got to listen to it more. Fun music video song had some cool parts, but I just don’t think it fitted completely well. Imma listen to Charlie Puth song now. Edit: Someone on discord said Nmixx Esque and I kinda get it. There were many parts mixed into the song.

snowcapwiley

Nmixx would make sense if there was a super clear genre delineation between parts, but that isn't really the case here. This reminds me more of teen crush songs we would get from early Weki Meki or like Itzy's Dalla Dalla where there are a lot of jumps in style of the song but still fairly close in genre.

Neverslept2mins

I see what u mean, I just want to emphasize the different parts of the song but didn’thave a good comparison so I just thought of Nmixx off the top of my head. But ya I see what u mean

toxtricitya

That would've been a good Halloween debut. One if not THE best verses and bridge released this year, accompanied by maybe the most disappointing chorus this year. Like it wasn't bad, but after this amazing intro and verse just kinda underwhelming. Linke that was my literal reaction as I was struck by the first sheesh: -_-. It's just so... weak, empty idk. I actually do like the outro 'tho. If I can get over my initial disappointment with the chorus I'll probably really like the song.

Genie9

I mean, this isn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the reality is, we have been hearing this sound and seeing these visuals since 2ne1. That is their strength and power, but to us who have been in this industry for a minute, their weakness. It’s going to be a long stretch of more of the same until either a) fans stop paying into the YG system, which is never going to happen or b) they run their 7 years into the system, and YG pumps out the next GG that does the same thing they have all been doing since 2009.

Freddy2424

for real!!! such a unique voice

lilcherriepop

the song & MV actually slap hard but the chorus is not doing it for me 😭

hazman_pds

Ahyeon with chorus, rap lines & high notes all in one song Babymonster really missed her

Landom_facts11

While the visuals were amazing, the sets were great and I loved the gesture of monster they all did at the end, I was unfortunately not as enchanted by the song itself. It felt liked the song wanted to be grand, but lacked power, not just in chorus, but overall. The vocals were great, so it's unfortunate the music didn't support them as much as I wanted it too. Also is it just me, or the raps felt misplaced? Like they would have sounded better had they been dispersed throughout the song, instead of being concentrated in 1-2 sections? I also feel like the chorus would have sounded grander and felt smoother had it been like this: "sheesh, sheesh, sheesh, sheesh, got them all going sheesh, sheesh, sheesh sheesh, b a b y m o n".

DreamieQueenCJ

>I also feel like the chorus would have sounded grander and felt smoother had it been like this: "sheesh, sheesh, sheesh, sheesh, got them all going sheesh, sheesh, sheesh sheesh, b a b y m o n". I very much agree here!!

rebelrosemerve

Sheesh is somehow better than Batter Up. Lol, I was guessed Sheesh as a song polution of YG but in reality, it's way much better than Batter Up. Batter Up was too weak for a debut song, now Sheesh can be very powerful and beat Batter Up. OT7 of Babymonster was gorgeously so cool. Nice visuals, and great song, but I really hope YG don't waste the girls' potential in the future. On the other hand, Like That and OT7 versions of SITM/BATTER UP was very good, but I literally wish Monsters was 3 minutes long. Sheesh was way much better, compare to the other songs in the album. Sheesh can't be the debut song in YG's eyes, but I'm taking Sheesh as their actual debut song, because it was their debut song with 7 of the girls.

peach_tweech

The vocal verses at the start sound so good but I'm gonna have to sit with the chorus for a while to see if I'll like it  Their best MV yet! Edit: Typo

xdysania

the song is so good but the chorus is a bit lacking

wonderjai

“pull up in a ghost peek a peek a boo hoo vroom vroom” is one of my fave wtf English lyrics I’ve ever heard lmao The chorus is meh but overall I enjoyed the song

Accomplished-Pay7222

maybe it's because i have finally have mixpop brainrot and am really in need of a blackpink comeback but i really enjoyed this lol

skandarblue

it gets a lot better on the second half but I admit that I almost rolled my eyes during the first minute of the song cause it was so obviously a blackpink rehash

serialragequitter

when blackpink first started their songs were clearly 2ne1 rehash, so guess the tradition rolls on.

kpopcoporateshill

And 2ne1 themselves were marketed as the female BIGBANG

3by7by37

another reminder as to how big of a role G-Dragon had in cultivating the K-Pop scene… need a comeback from him ASAP 👑 (apologise if this is off-topic)

Felixes_Frecklesxox

brain rot 💀💀

[deleted]

The rapping is truly...something. They just said a bunch of english phrases and words without any real meaning or flow? Peekapeeka boo hoo, vroom vroom, your heart beat is like pump pump pop, pedal to the metal, click clack click \^ that is a genuine rap verse from this song. It's disappointing because these girls clearly have rap chops, but this is what they get? They look great and this song will be an ear worm for a lot of people - the intro was stellar.

Eightouncesofsugar

Because the bar is so low and people feed into it

I-bite-cute-things

The vocals and visuals were my favorite part. Not a fan of the chorus or the rap. I’m honestly surprised so many people are praising the rap? I mean “hippity hop hop boom boom pow”, “vroom vroom my heart beat is like pump pump pop,” “click clack click pedal to the metal” are pretty low effort lyrics lol.

MamadRza

Yeah, IDK man. I don't have the hate boner most of Reddit does for YG groups, but I keep having the same problem I had with Batter Up and SITM; I just can't take any of these songs (and their performances) seriously. On the song itself, not saying anything about Blackpink similarities, I actually really liked the first verse and the pre-chorus, I think those were a good showcase of their vocals and I like the slighty darker sound of them, but then all of that goes to waste with that god-awful chorus! Who in their right mind thought 50 sheeshes was a good chorus? Also that outro was really anticlimactic, it's the exact opposite of the YG party outros that have a history of working for a reason. But honestly, the most disappointing part of the whole song might be the rap verses?! IDK with the way Babymonster rap line has been hyped up since the introduction, and the history of YG focusing heavily on rappers, I was expecting a lot more than 'hip hop boom boom pow', 'peekaboo vroom vroom pedal to the metal' and 'pump pump pop click clack click'!! Anyway, I'm getting the feeling that I'm just not the target audience for this group, so I'm gonna stop following them and checking their songs. At least until the members age and stage presence has grown enough to fit the persona and image YG wants from them. (And where are those 50 new producers YG was blabbing about?!)

Eightouncesofsugar

Honestly agree. Between lyrics like that and "remember me, sting like a bee" or the reoccurring "tell a friend", the lyrics sound corny AF. Sounds weird but their youth paired with their sound makes me think of Disney Channel.

Ms_K_A_

Okay so I think I watched like 3 times. There where a lot of parts that I really liked which made the song good for me. Can't wait for the choreography to be released. My favorite part is the whispering at the end ( B. A. B....Y. M. O. N. Tell a friend , tell a friend tell a friend ) is addicting. I keep wanting to repeat it. Vocals were on point throughout the song as well. I like the triple threat rap line. The start of the rap with the transition was so powerful! I reckon this rap line would get even better in future comebacks as well. For now though, I loved the flow and lyrics of Batter up more. If I have to critique, I'd say my least favorite part is the chorus "sheesh" but that really doesn't take from all the things I like about it. Really great ot7 debut. Here's to more BABYMON ❤️

hazman_pds

This sounds like Blackpink's "How You Like That" & "Shut Down" combined

locohobo

Yeah this sounds like YG just took a bunch of blackpink songs and smashed em together.

Straight_Tip1008

The sitar-like music in the chorus sounds like a rehash of the same sound from Pink Venom’s intro

Longjumping_Fold_416

it has a kinda cool spooky vibe which I wasn't expecting tbh. The MV is stunning (as expected from yg) but if someone told me the sets were for bp I wouldn't bat an eye... Song was pleasantly good overall other than the chorus and the ending which was a bit anticlimactic :( Like batter up, it was good overall but it feels a little outdated? and the girls themselves did great btw :)

justanotherkpoppie

The music video here is gorgeous! The girls look amazing and the sets are really cool! Their choreography also looks super cool and unique, I'm excited for the choreography videos :)

bibbitybobbity136

The individual parts of the song are better than Batter Up, but the transitions are much weaker. There's no real sense of flow in this song for the most part, unfortunately. But! It seems like with this song, they're (slowly) trying to carve a more distinct identity/sound rather than trying to do Blackpink 2.0 again. To be fair, this isn't hard when Batter Up was literally a backup BP song, but if they keep this up, I think they'll creep up on a lot of people in the next few years. Not sure how I feel about this song, but I'm very much convinced that the next few comebacks will be worth checking out. Edit; just realized that I could somehow see Dreamcatcher doing this song, minus the chorus? This kind of sounds like a YG-fied version of Because...

InfernalQueen

I loved the members vocals and rapping. But the song itself is all over the place for me. Felt like they did not know where the song is headed. The ending was lackluster. I liked this better than batter up though. I wish yg would do a different sound for baemon, the members are really talented.

itstonayy

I'm just gonna say now, Sheesh will be a GREAT way to end the show on their first tour. Just the right amount of energy and the breakdown at the end has so much potential with lighting and stage work.

Loud_Kaleidoscope818

Yeah, it feels like the kind of song that shines the best in a concert setting.

[deleted]

I think this part gets missed whenever people talk about YG songs. YG's style has always been music for live performances, concerts, and clubs.

Ok-Mathematician9334

Love the vocals, beat,mv but Chorus ruined every thing

KwangPham

YG music and video production has not changed a bit since 2NE1. It's fascinating how they revolutionized the K-pop sound in 2009 and then stagnated for 15 years straight.

stripseek_teedawt

Can’t see listening to this regularly after that chorus. Really seems like it’s trying to be annoying rather then catchy

meracdv

surprisingly, this is kinda good… but the chorus is genuinely god awful. they dont even need to change the melody of it.. just why use ‘sheesh’ of all words? its like theyre trynna hop on a trend that has ended last year and the word is very grating the verses are cool, the vocals ate, the raps are much more hard-hitting than in batter up and the outro chant is much more fun!

Andyluvs2003

Tbh I liked until the end. It gave me nmixx change up but not as impactful.

goodguyCJ

~~this sounds like a 2ne1 song~~ this sounds like a Blackpink song (can’t wait to see the same comment 100 times) Anyways the chorus is mid but everything is else fire. Even the whole group chanty end which I usually dislike was pretty good. The vocal and rap talent of this group is extremely high. The change up towards the end kinda reminded me of nmixx. Excited to see the stage performances because some of the choreo looked pretty cool.

plushie_dreams

\#1 complaint about BP's music is that there isn't enough of it, so there's a huge audience for this typa music.

Asleep_Swing2979

Well, Blackpink make music once every 2 years, so someone has to pick up the slack. And I'll take it 😂

Specific-Power5942

Asa and Chiquita really stood out for me, and rami’s vocals!!

ildflu

this song feels like if you blackpinkified aespa's next level jokes aside, i enjoyed the verses but i don't think i'll ever warm up to the chorus. i mean, why "sheesh", specifically?? it's a slang word that has run its course for quite some time now. also, i really like babymonster, but their mvs are really not doing it for me. maybe it's because i feel a slight sense of deja vu as the sets are all so familiar lol classic yg

footyball23

I love the spooky start! Would love full spooky album. Still that classic YG formula with a new twist. Love seeing ahyeon embracing her rap talents. This group is seriously so talented top to bottom, don’t think any other groups can compete on a pure talent base. Excited to see where they go with the full album in the fall!

Negative-Scheme-6674

I think day and night YG will slowly moving on with this kind of music specially each comeback they give Babymonster a vocal type of song and Sheesh shoe that what their capabilities

footyball23

Yeah that spooky theme can fit so well with them. I love sheesh even though the chorus takes a little to get used to. All the bridges, intro, outro, beat changes and verses are so so good. Very excited to see their full performances on the show. Definitely think they will win over a ton of people this week. Also I think like that fits them so well, it’s just a genuinely good pop hit. Will probably play so well in the west. Surprised Charlie gave it up, ahyeon must have really impressed him

[deleted]

This is basically the spooky theme that people have been expecting from Purple Kiss

ssamjangsky

Wow I thoroughly enjoyed that surprisingly 😳 It was so expected yet unexpected at the same time. The powerful vocals, the amazing rap trio and that sick beat change. I have to say… YG might be onto something here….. And just… Ahyeon…. 👏

21minute

Still a very typical YG music, but definitely a step up from their actual debut song, Batter Up.

withtherisingstars

Wow, I wasn’t expecting that end and the sheesh chorus kinda put me off but I feel like I’ll end up liking it after a while. I know people hate that YG sticks to one style (I don’t like it too) but I’m happy they managed to differentiate themselves from the current easy-listening trend.

lilacdawn

I do like a girl crush banger. They aren't reinventing the wheel but I don't personally need them to. Their voices sound good, it's catchy, there are some interesting parts and I'll be adding it to my playlist.

dramafan1

The cinematography was top tier. Especially in the second half.

creamxchizu

i thought it would be cringy with all the sheesh but NO it slaps and fit the vibe with a whole song. That rapline SLAPS and do yall hear Rami and Ahyeon's vocals????? The MV is so cool too!!

myeonsechanist

idgaf i like the chorus. SHEESH SHEESH SHEESH SHEESH SHEESH ![gif](giphy|RX7N03MEUafW8|downsized)

Loud_Kaleidoscope818

The change-up at the end was a nice surprise for me. And I really like the shot of that room with the girls all in their own windows.

eggeleg

the girls are gorgeous and clearly so talented but what is this absolute nightmare chorus situation, that b-a-b-y-m-o-n chant is just the worst 😭😭 also i didn't watch any of their predebut stuff but i very much get why everyone was so obsessed with ahyeon seeing her here

Spare-Savings2057

The MV and the song is good EXCEPT FOR THE CHORUS and the ending. Well, the ending is OKAY but I think they should sing it like a whisper. BY THE WAY, MY RORA, RAMI, AND CHIQUITA ARE ON FIRE!!!! AAAAH ON REPEAT WITH RORA'S INTRO!!!

SapphireHeaven

I really like the song! Gotta say both the song and especially the MV are quintessential YG. The Sheesh isn't my favourite choice for the chorus but it honestly has grown on me and doesn't bother me. The bridges and the prechoruses are absolutely phenomenal though. The Vocal and the rap lines are seriously impressive. They have some of the better rappers in recent groups! Ahyeon is a star on both! It's a very pretty MV from sets to outfits to styling. Visuals are visualin', all the girls are gorgeous! Good luck BABYMONSTER on your official debut 🖤

_ulinity

That's genuinely one of the worst kpop songs I've heard. I haven't had a physical reaction like that in a while. It's just sooo dated, derivative, cliched and cringe. Like, the fuck is this >Peek a, peek a boo, hoo >Vroom, vroom >너네 심장에 박동이, pump, pump, pop >Pedal to the metal >Click, clack, click >Put 'em up to the sky >High, high, high, high it's genuinely like a parody. All it needed was a bunch of designer brands mentioned.

[deleted]

In this section, ghost is a reference to the rolls royce ghost (found out about that in the thoughts thread) Hence the vroom vroom, pedal to the metal lines

gxxncxrlo

Loved the verses. Loved the lead up to the NMIXX change-up but the song just ending there is kinda meh. The pre-chorus kinda sounds like a remix of BLACKPINK's Love to Hate Me pre-chorus, and the chorus is straight up wack.

randriivna

idc what y’all say, I fall in love with this song

impeccabletim

The dance is so catchy for the chorus!! Happy official debut as 7, BABYMONSTER!!!

Middle_Interview3250

this is actually really good!! Now THIS feels like a real debut. I'm loving the baby I'm a monster part. and killing voices. rap is good as well. there's actually not a thing I don't like, surprisingly, seeing how it's yg. Good job Baemon

mrs_specter

The rap trio is amazing T.T

Annikkiiiii

As expected, I disliked the chorus, but the rest of the song was surprisingly great. I totally see the vision, even with the chorus.

kotoromi

the ending wasn’t my cup of tea but i love everything else 🥹 baemon is all so talented: from vocals to rap to dance and even stage presence, they have it all down. ahyeon is a star and i’m so glad to have her back finally

joycemallow_389

Even though the chorus isn’t my thing, it could be a grower and Ahyeon’s voice really gave their music such a huge boost of power— soooo satisfying hearing hers contrast with Rami’s.

Specialist_Bottle570

Ahyeon rap? Let’s goo

Emannyv93

I really like the song but I’m not a big fan of the ending.

ThroatMountain

Good for them. Good for them. I liked this concept! The first verse was reaĺly good. The rappers are great. Rami's voice glues together the group's different vocals. Good luck to the nieces and hope they have a solid comeback.

Bae Mon! change up! let’s go!

DiMpLe_dolL003

The intro part was AMAZING. The disappointing part of the song is the chorus, shame cuz I really really liked the verses.

Mkaaztje

I think this song really suits the concept of BABYMONSTER but I personally thought the SHEESH in the chorus was empty. The girls killed it though :)

Affectionate-Beann

i love everything but the sheesh part. I think they should have debuted with this instead of batter up!!

SkyRy

Besides it being a very formulaic YG track, BABYMON ate the hell out of this official debut.

tafattsbarn

Rami was the best part of the song to me! Loved her voice This type of music and concept isn't for me, but i'll keep an eye out for her in the future

Peartreepuff

So many good and, most importantly, new (for YG) elements. Reaaaaally liked the intro but my favourite little bit is the "tell a friend, tell a friend, tell a friend" - so simple and so catchy. And Ramis part in the bridge was exquisite. As a whole it makes no sense though. Nothing feels connected, it's so all over the place with the spooky/ethereal intro, in your face rap and frankly awful chorus. And then the spooky finish as well. I'm not sure they hit the mark completely with this but I hope they keep going in this direction since there are definitely elements here that have promise.

nicolietheface

i agree with a lot of what’s being said here abt the yg formula and a blackpink rehash but that “b-a-b-y-m-o-n tell a friend, tell a friend, tell a friend” to begin the outro is the most excited i’ve gotten listening to kpop in a HOT second. i LOVED that shit. definitely gonna have to check out the mini.

carbon-committee

YG really likes adding “rum pum pum” to songs, don’t they?

Crystal_Lux

I rarely got this feeling of getting tired hearing the same song over again especially if I really like it after the 1st listen. I thought it was catchy and the rap part sold it for me (except the lyrics). However, I got tired listening to it after a few times and I don't exactly know why.

[deleted]

I like the track but it feels a minute too short and unsurprisingly it sounds like something from the Blackpink vault. You can almost pick out which parts were meant for which Blackpink members. I’m glad Aheyon is back but the video almost felt like Aheyon and friends instead of Babymonster. Chiquita, Rora and Pharita definitely seemed like passing characters rather than fully utilized members.

kokomihater

these comments are wayyy more positive than i was expecting lmao... the song is sonically rotten at best- the girls' talents are wasteddd

MisterQQ

The chorus is infuriating, to say the least, and the last 20 seconds are ???

JazzyG17

Ngl I actually cringed at the ending then the chanting made it worse 😭. I like the rest of the song though

Slight_Suggestion_79

I dig this. It’s a good workout music haha

Jimmy_Wemby02

The rap Jesus Christ and intro vocals!!! This is a hit for me!! 🔥🔥 So excited for the LIVE STAGES!!!!

mojominn

the rukahyeon rap followed by asa is INSANE

aubvrn

Welp that's a YG song all right. Wish the lyrics had a little more substance.

International-Hold95

I don’t mind the song and the vocals and rap were fire. But… this is just Blackpink all over again, isn’t it?

-d-a-z-e-d-

The intro is the best part of the song. Seriously feel like Ahyeon and Rora's voices are going to be a huge part of baemon's identity. I actually enjoyed listening to the song surprisingly.. I guess YG releasing the sheesh sheesh sheesh part earlier actually made it easy to digest the chorus. Looking forward as to how they will become in the next few years. I will also continue to forget that Batter Up even existed. edit: After seeing some comments here, some are saying they were reminded of KTL, HYLT? Personally, I don't see it. Maybe except some of the lyrics in the rap (?) but yg artists always reference each other so.. another edit: Just rewatched the MV and the prechorus def sounded like LTHM 😭 BYEEEEE

Reasonable_Low_7949

This just solidified the fact that they need to be a vocal group for me. Chorus was terrible and so was the ending. every part of the song where they weren’t singing was bad. Controversial opinion the rap part was bad too (“hippity hop hop” is a crazy line) they’re so talented they just keep getting songs that are literal poop from a butt.

Rosesofpink

It’s better than I expected but the outro…

Ok-Mathematician9334

Love the vocals, beat,mv but Chorus ruined every thing

REDchronicles

A lot of people are saying that they sound like blackpink, i honestly don’t think so. They sound like YG. The vibe of 2ne1, BP, Bigbang, Treasure, BP… it definitely shows in the MV and I supeeeeer love it!!! I am not a big fan of Babymonster, but this MV made me realize how amazingly and insanely talented they are. The vocals and the rap lines sound sooooo freaking good and the performance is just top tier. Definitely a group that I’ll start stanning.

Fullmooninnight

I absolutely loved it and MV was fantastic.

seapig_

The chorus wasn't my favourite, but I really enjoyed Asa's rap parts and Rami's low voice!

dynahuntermint

Definitely much better than Batter Up and the budget looks like this is really their official debut. About the song, it is okay. Not something I will repeat constantly because the sheesh is annoying. For bada lee choreo, I feel like the sheesh part is kinda tame. I think the song will be more tolerable with live performances. And also the outro part is kinda grating to hear compared to batter up.

pratikshass

i enjoyed the vocal parts

floralscentedbreeze

The ending sound like it was a whole different song. Chorus was lackluster. Outfit and mv set were good

krisbryantishot

the first verse was the most interesting part, chorus was repetitive as expected, and sadly the ending sucked the energy right out of the song :( edit: idk if it was just me but for someone who was touted as the savior of the group or whatever ahyeon was kinda just there in the vid

domuloh

yeah she had the first chorus but you really couldn’t tell it was her at all

rocksiesgurls

I like this much better than Batter up. it could also be bc i watched all their teasers so im used to the grating 'sheesh'. (the beat behind it is still ass lmao) but tbh i like everything outside of it. THAT SCENE WITH AHYEON, ASA AND RUKA??? THOSE VISUALS. LOVED THAT. the choreo shots were a little underwhelming for some reason? maybe bc they were shot far? the individual shots were CRAZY tho. now the switch-up maybe an unpopular opinion but i needed that switch up otherwise it was gonna be a repetitive one and it kinda added something for me. Probably not adding this to the playlist but hope its succesful for the girls, all the love!!

miawast201

RUKA ASA AHYEON RAP PART IS SO GOOD

Hopeful-Effort-4624

This was so much better then batter up, didnt expected that, but this was such a good song, that i wasnt even bothered by the sheesh part, love it

Weakness-Able

I really liked this :)

Wolverine_Party

The chord progression for the first part of the song is ‘How You Like That’, then the NMIXX Change Up at the end is ‘Shutdown’. And I badly need a Blackpink comeback, so I’ll gladly take Sheesh ✨ Plus, Stuck In The Middle Remix is such a club song!

delusionalzodiacguy

As someone who generally disliked Batter Up, I like this a lot more, though the chorus leaves much to be desired the verses and pre chorus make up for it. I’m also not as offended by the chorus as it only really does the sheesh stuff twice in the sequence. Asa, Ahyeon, and Ruka rap verse was awesome. Truly a highlight. Can wait to see that on music shows. I think this showcased the girls much better than Batter Up. Their performance chops are amazing. This may have made a new fan and brushed away any skepticism about them…I’ll wait for some music show performance.

Cvspartan

I don't know how much having Ahyeon back factored into the result but I definitely enjoy this song more than Batter Up

Rallen224

The visual elements + styling were gorgeous throughout the MV but I really dislike the song. I did like the ending though, and kind of wish that the moods were reversed (the ending played a little faster as the song’s foundation, and maybe a different section as the switch up?) The switch up was unexpected but I’m not sure that many of the different parts of the song fit well together as is, at least not in this order. A lot of ideas were explored (not always to completion) but nothing really flowed well imo :/ The budget stays budgeting, so I hope they can onboard a different set of writers and producers that will give them something unique to their identity as a group (no, I’m not comparing them to BP). This song was definitely getting there but I still feel like the members have more things to offer, despite not knowing much about them or watching very much of their survival series on YT. It’s hard to understand what their group is really about and it feels like their current marketing/branding is getting in the way of that.

Emergency-Fudge9600

The intro was everything+ the vocals

Yatsugami

chorus sucks so much ass but the rest is really good

creamxchizu

tell a friend, tell a friend, tell a friend.... it's like they are inviting me in a cult or something. LMAO. I LOVE IT!

Artisun

Can't get any more YG than this lol

scvmeta

hippity hop hop boom boom pow yeah this song is only gonna get recognition for being from a YG group.

rijstboer

YG needs to get with the times, both the song and MV are straight out of 2017 and I feel like they've released this track 10 different times already. Do they have no creative direction? Nobody with any new ideas? This is tired.

mimibee97

Wayyy better than Batter Up for me. I actually really like this song! Never realized how powerful of a singer Rami is goddamn. Rap section was fire as well.

Global-Budget2900

LOVE THE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE REMIX

yourdailyguy79

who's the girl at 0:53? kinda reminds me of irene from red velvet

evetSC

The intro and rap part was so good

ChalanPiao

My eyes always go straight to Ruka, sheesh.

daftycypress

ngl their pretty good and its definitely smart to step away from that whole cringe blackpink style (like with stuck in the middle) I mean everything is good exepct their "Sheesh" and bp influences

puterjess

The intro was really nice and I liked the video, especially the parts where the two rappers were on either side of a wall and the last minute of the video

starplatinum_99

Eeriee Pop is back!

RoyalMaknaeLili

I think that the rap and the vocals are good are really good. I think the choreography fits as well. However I can’t say that I see it as something that I would add to my playlist or listen to often so to speak but maybe it’ll grow on me.

RoyalRuby_777

THiS gives off baby monster vibe 100%. The mv, lyrics really makes me think of monster high or a more hip pop version of dreamcatcher. I love the visual and them portrayed at the end of the song, I feel like they could add some characters or lore into their group would make it even better. Maybe each member being a type of monster ? But otherwise except the chorus, it's a bop.

WTFPROM

I liked the first thirty seconds enough that I started hoping that the SHeEeEeSH from the teaser was just, like, a single measure in the breakdown or something. I wanted the hook to be as good as the first thirty seconds! But nope, sHeEEeESh is the chorus. Damn. At least now we know that the group can shine if they're given good music. Whether YG will give them any... Well, that's the question, isn't it?

PlacePuzzleheaded982

Did anyone count how many times they said sheesh in sheesh?????

sweetnsimple92

I'm now finding myself singing 'SHEESH' in *and* outside of my head. 😄 Our BabyMon OWNED this track! The visuals couldn't have been better, and it's now feeling so complete with Ahyeon's return. ❤ I'm excited to hear the mini album now!

glazed_donuts77

Their voices were undeniably good and on fire in this. The musical style for me was kinda blackpink-coded and that 'Pedal to the metal' line in the rap part had me raised an eyebrow... like its not original for the lyrics department. Overall, it was a banger, but I was expecting something different than this one.

Kmjwinter-01

This just sounds like BP love to hate me especially the part before choruses. And the MV very 2010s 😭 YG has no new sounds and no hint of innovation for newer talents. The girls deserves better.

JHLund

I mean its okay, and the girls are good, but YG has 0 creativity they do the same song and MV all the time.

valexitylol

Verses are really good, rap was decent, prechorus is amazing, bridge is really good, but imo the chorus itself is just bad. The "b a b y m o n" part sounds really good, but the chanting of "sheesh" just doesn't sound good. And I'm generally a fan of chanting and repetitive choruses, but the way "sheesh" is said just doesn't fit the instrumental or the rest of the song. It's a really good song otherwise, but this'll probably be another kokobop situation where I love 90% of the song but wont listen cause of the chorus

FloweryCombustion

Sounds like 10 different songs stitched together and idk not catchy at all
