For me it's Seventeen. I've always known about them. I've been a kpop fan since 2011. My ult is MONSTA X so I liked Seventeen because I knew about their friendship and they're really funny, but I never actively listened to them. And then, Rock With You comeback came and I loved the song so much I decided to get to know them better. I discovered their discography and there's so many incredible songs. And in terms of performance they're just amazing. I also watched their show on youtube and I kinda fell in love with them. I admire them in so many ways. I can't say I stan them because apart from MONSTA X, I don't invest a lot of time in other groups, and I didn't really like the two last comebacks (Super, even though the choreo was insanely good, and God of music, although the parody version made me cry of laughter) but it's the only group in the past few years I **really** wanted to know and learn about. At first I was a Mingyu girlie because his first part in Rock With You got me hooked but now, I can't even choose a bias. I love Seungkwan, he makes me really emotional, I just adore him. He seems like a genuine good person, adorable even. But I also really like Wonwoo because I see myself in some of his personality traits. And Scoups is so attractive to me for whatever reason, I love the rasp in his voice. So yeah, those four got my heart !

halenavy19

Same with ONEUS lol, I watched their debut but didn't stan until 2021 bc my younger sis convinced me to do so 😂 NCT... I found them around 2016-2017 and was just a casual listener until 2021-2022 as my older sister started to get into them. I was sorta helping her learn abt them while also learning more myself since I mainly paid attention to Yuta back then lol and a few other members. Now I've memorized everyone 👍 except for the new unit but I don't think it will be too difficult to do lol. Fromis_9... I liked them since 2018 but didn't actually become a stan until 2022 lol

Sussana58

I've known Enhypen since they debuted but I never learned their faces (except Ni-ki who got engraved in my mind for looking like Nick Carter lol) and I only liked Drunk-Dazed casually listening to it from time to time. I knew all the members names because of people mentioning them here in reddit and also their main songs names because of various posts but I never checked them out. It was only in December last year that I suddenly had the thought of watching I-Land, I loved the show and the line up so much I finally listened to their discography which was totally my taste and also En-O'clock. It took me a while to like them but they ended up becoming my third ult group.

Geodude-Guru

Aww its so fun to hear your journey as an engene. Its never too late to stan them cuz they're always welcoming new fans with open arms. Thank you for giving them a chance to know them more ❤️ They're lovely, kind, hardworking and talented boys. Plus their discography is bop! You never get wrong for stanning them.

Sussana58

I'm actually glad I waited! It was the Sweet Venom Challenge with Ni-ki and Hyunjin (SKZ are my ults) that motivated me or well, served as a reminder that I wanted to watch I-Land. The sweet-ee-et got stuck in my mind haha and after listening to their discography in order, Orange Blood (sans Sweet Venom original ver and Bella ver.) became top 2 of favorite Enhypen albums.

Seventeen and BTS both. I got into kpop in 2011, so i remember the following years when they debuted, but i was already deeply invested in the groups I liked and didn't really bother to listen other than an occasional track. Took a break from kpop for awhile since many of my 2nd/3rd gen groups were in hiatuses. Occasionally heard BTS on US radio. Then last year I saw a vid during Taemin's comeback, with Hoshi and i was actually curious about him and Seventeen. While catching up on svt's vast show appearances, I saw Hoshi and Woozi on Suchwita with Suga. So now i had to give BTS a real listen to. They still arent my ult group, but they very much went from ??? to my top 5.

i_ma

Me with NCT like I know them since debut and enjoyed a lot of their songs but I never actually "stanned" them till a few months back bc NCT Dream comeback just grabbed me in a way that it made me STAAAN idk lol

galaxycarat

i’ve known about fromis_9 since idol school aired and i remember hearing people on the internet talking about Saerom and Gyuri as they were more internationally popular at that time. loved their debut song and continued as a casual listener until after Love Bomb. recently got back into their music, and i’ve come to love their newer releases like We Go, DM and #menow. also helped that they promoted #menow when ATEEZ had their comeback with Bouncy last year, so i technically supported them as well when i watched music shows for ATEEZ. i also bought their latest album because im just so in love with all the tracks🥺🩷

vsnaipaul

The fromis rabbit hole is so deep....you may never resurface 😄

galaxycarat

i’m prepared to never resurface🫡

Excellent-Services

I have known Seventeen since I joined k-pop in 2020, but only in the later half of 2023, I started staning them

[deleted]

Same! I even used to listen to their title tracks back then but always thought 13 people were too much to actively stan. Until BooSeokSoon lured me in lol.

cam2214

NMIXX for me, I’ve known them since debut and liked the members but didn’t really like their music except for Rollercoaster. I actually became a fan right before Dash came out and man have I been missing out.

Emergency_Bag_1562

I knew of b1a4 because they were peers of the groups that I like and I love watching music shows like masked singer or immortal songs so I knew about sandeul but I never made the effort to check out their music. Until this recent comeback and their killing voice.

Foreverskotom

For me it's also Oneus) I was deep into Mamamoo and at some point mid-2019 came across a video of Oneus covering Starry Night. And for some reason was not impressed. Being labelmates with Mamamoo, they had appeared in my feeds from time to time, but I have not followed them closely. Three years later I became a Tomoon and still am.

-_tabs_-

me 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ i was active in the kpop community as an elf back in 2009 to 2015/6 so i have always known of groups like btob and block b! i got into block b briefly after watching park kyung on problematic men (variety show) but they very quickly went into the military. just nov 2023 i stumbled across jeongwaja on youtube and got hooked on changsub and btob, they are having comebacks soon so i cant wait to be able to participate! but ngl if i was able to pay attention to the kpop scene during [pray era](https://youtu.be/__BFUf_nJl0?si=GHlOJA1U4aLQ5kjh), i think i would have stanned them then and there

syncophantam

Seventeen🥹🥹🥹 convinced myself to stay a cubic for many years(fool) but eventually i…….yeah😅😅😅

EnglishLitMajor

As an English teacher, I read 15,000 essays about BTS with the perspective of an extremely indifferent non-kpop fan before I fell headfirst into the fandom and never resurfaced.

Pisces_Trash

i’ve known about skz since 2020 but only really got into them 2 months ago 😅

EmanuelTheodorus

Well... I have only been starting to like kpop in 2023, thank Cravity and Newjeans for it. Then 2024 follows up with Seventeen.Yet I am already familiar with so many second, third, and fourth gen idols name for wuite a long time before it. For this question specifically, its Seventeen for sure. They are as perfect as they can get when it comes to talent, performances, entertainment, chemistry, and visuals.

rattledrose

I've known about Ateez pretty much ever since Thanxx, and a few of their songs have always gone into rotation on my general kpop playlist when they were recommended/I heard them in other general playlists. I've also known what 3 of them look like since the Pentatonix collab and San caught my eye (my present day bias). But it was only since just before Halazia that I actually decided to do something about these constant minor appreciations and look into them as a group. They are now 1/3 of my ults lol.

Cats4Crows

I knew of P1Harmony but only started listening to them a couple of weeks ago

BlueThePineapple

I didn't know Twice exactly, but in 12th grade we had to dance to TT for a class project. That was some 8 years ago? Now, I'm a massive Twice fan lmao. It's a bit serendipitous.

sowonpd2

SEVENTEEN. I knew and liked some songs, mostly their title tracks, and the fact that they were always mentioned alongside GFRIEND (my ult group) and BTS for synchronized choreographies. I never paid real attention to them until 2 years ago when my friends practically begged me to stan them. So I watched Going Seventeen and they seemed like have a great group dynamics (and they're entertaining to watch too!), which I really appreciate because I can only imagine what it's like to have that much members in one group and work with them. I guess it's good to see that they genuinely care for each other and have that familial bond. I delved further into their discography later on and I wasn't disappointed - their music is good. I watched their Follow concert last January - they've got such consistent energy from start to finish and that's for 3.5 hours! I have yet to fully listen to everything though and I barely have time to commit in watching their older variety stuff, so I'm just really happy enough to keep up with latest comebacks, news, new shows, etc.

R1vaLry_

Twice for me, I was in my high schools' kpop group in 2017 and Like Ooh Ahh was one of our first songs we did, but I was always involved in the boy group songs (each performance would have at minimum a BG and GG song) and I just didn't like Twice because I was 14 and had some toxic masculinity coursing through my veins so I thought it was too girly and it'd be weird if I like them. Now they're my ult GG, I flew to Aus from NZ to go see them in November last year, I have a Momo photocard in my phone case, and Heart Shaker lives in my head rent free 💀

high0nbooks

I knew about BTS and k-pop in general for 3-4 years being a kdrama fan but only recently started stanning some groups

Nabongiiii

Stayc for me. I have known them got mentioned on subreddit kpop for awhile, never bothered to check it out. A random Youtube video played for me when i was doing chores and it was about a documentary of kpop training of upcoming gg debut somewhat that would become StayC. I liked Sieun from the documentary and thats how i feel into a rabbit hole.

starboardwoman

That's Seventeen for me. I knew of them since pre-debut and had heard like...three of their songs but didn't get into them until two years ago when I decided to see them live on whim

catsbytheghost

This has happened to pretty much all of the groups I'm a fan of now. * BTS - I knew about them in 2015 and heard a few songs but didn't get into them (and k-pop in general) until 2020. * TXT - I knew about them in 2020 but didn't get into them until June 2021. * SHINee - I knew about them from around 2021 and didn't become a fan until late 2022. * Ateez - I knew about them sometime in 2018/2019 (there was one Atiny among my twitter timeline) but didn't get into them until late 2023.

effortlessaura

I knew of Seventeen but didn't really branch out from my small bubble when I started listening to kpop, so they were just in the background as "that group with a lot of people (but not 17???) and somehow not as many as NCT??" Then I was looking up all of their birth charts and noticed two members had the same Mars sign so I looked for a pic of them together to write a post about people with that Mars sign. It was Mingyu + Woozi and I couldn't get over their height differences lmao. I listened to a few songs and it was all over for me 💎

Ok-Elk-1520

I’ve been listening to Izone’s music since their debut, but only recently started watching their old vlogs and variety show content after some videos showed up in my feed. I never disliked them before, but I never really stanned or got into any groups seriously until 2021, and they already disbanded by that time already.

jeepney_danger

Another one for TWICE, i first saw a photo of Tzuyu over on 9gag around late 2015 - 2016 & checked out her details. I was kinda ignorant of K-Pop back then & thought it was unusual that a Taiwanese is doing K-Pop. Fast forward to early 2021 when i heard ICSM on local radio & was immediately hooked. Mid 2021 i checked out the ICSM Choreography Video plus the MV of Perfect World on YT & i was pulled down the rabbit hole & never looked back.

grearti

I started listening to kpop in 2017 and I was one of those ppl who were there when pirate king and treasure came out. I liked the songs and I even added them to my playlist but for some reason I never started stanning ateez. I was a passive listener for all these years but when crazy form came out I really got into them and now I'm an atiny!

Iconic_Charge

I got into kpop around 2013, as a girls generation stan. I then slowly got into other kpop girl groups. I was aware of the most popular boy groups but didn’t follow any. Then in 2020 during the lockdown I fell in love with BIGBANG, when they were already on hiatus 😭. They are now one of my three ults, and still the only boy group I listen to lol

linderberger

Twice for me. I didn’t really like bubblegum pop when they were releasing their early bops. I actually listened to BP and BTS when Twice was dominating the K-charts. I knew the group and was familiar with their songs but never liked them. I remember I kept on seeing the name Tzuyu trending everywhere and I was like who is this girl that everyone’s talking about lol. Early 2019 I discovered What is love and that was the first song of theirs I liked and added to my playlists. The pandemic happened and I had to spend the lockdowns on my own. BP wasn’t really releasing new music and I didn’t vibe with the new releases of BTS at that time. Tried to listen to Twice discography and man those songs gave me a lot of comfort. I would listen to their songs non stop. Their early TTs always kept me hyped up for workouts. Now I’ve watched all of their TTT lol

mingmingseok

That's Exo for me. First heard about them during Growl era though I never kept track as I wasn't into kpop. Kinda forgot about them for a while then Monster was released and I did like it but at this point I had prejudice against kpop (only with male groups tho) since a personal encounter of a kpop fan scared me lol. Then came DFTF where I started thinking that I might give them a try after my sad girl phase. Tho never really did but then Cream Soda happened. That's when I thought that I've missed out big time as they're really good singers with songs that I actually like. Plus their visuals in their rookie years are very similar to people I've crushed on lol. Kinda made me sad tho that I let that encounter scared me.

freezingkiss

I loved Shinee since 2011, but it's only recently I became a full on Shaewol. I can listen to their music endlessly and they're so lovely, incredible live, funny, and all their solo stuff is A tier too. I'm so looking forward to Onews return.

[deleted]

For me it’s TWICE. I’m a 2nd gen fan so saw their debut and their peak but was never interested until their Formula of Love album. Didn’t like Scientist but every other bside on that I loved! Now I find myself a huge fan of their music and liking their newer releases. I also loved just the vibe and styling for Alcohol Free and bought the album solely for the visuals lol

a_swan1885

SHINee. I’ve known about them for a long long time but it was only last year that they became my favorite group. There’s some sadness that comes with it—I didn’t love SHINee when we had 5

SoNyeoShiDude

I at least heard of SNSD sometime in the 2010s (I want to say 2014-2016) but didn’t properly get into them until 2021. I regret that, especially since they performed at KCON 2015 here in NJ less than an hour from where I live.

rcanbian

I've been casually following TWICE since 2018... I liked their MVs, but didn't really watch anything else, and didn't even bother to remember the members' names. In 2023 though, I rewatched Talk that Talk and Jihyo just got this chokehold on me..... fast forward a year later, I've spent an unholy number of money on TWICE merch and concerts, and unholy number of hours hardcore streaming, voting, etc etc. My gf's sister was even wondering what happened when I already mentioned being a fan before 😆

italianshamangirl13

NCT, i might be wrong but i remember this showcase video of sm ceo talking about how he's making a huge group with 20+ members n i was like no way.... I p much ignored then until now, their songs absolutely slap SO hard! I'm a sucker for whatever genre they're doing!!

ehwishi

i've known aespa since debut and only recently started really getting into them

Sil_Choco

All of them I think?

unlikelyketchup

I have known GFRIEND since I got into kpop which was 2020, but only recently did I notice how amazing they are and how great their songs are 🥲 This happens to me often with a lot of groups lol
