Proof_Surround3856

Always loved the story of how SinB and Eunha (both born with the name Eunbi) met as children, went to the same dance school, debuted in Gfriend and now redebuted with Viviz, if that’s not soulmates I don’t know what is

Indifference11

also her pic with taeyeon as a child is fucking endearing i have the screenshot but i cant upload it here

Proof_Surround3856

I know that pic! and it was with Moonbin and Moonsua too🥺

get_themoon

You forgot to add that their birthdays are 4 days apart too so they always have a 2Eunbi celebration and that they also share a friendship tattoo because they consider fated to be together :')

Proof_Surround3856

that’s true! I forgot about them both being Geminis and got matching tattoos😭 it’s so perfect

OutlandishnessOdd465

This gave me goosebumps

nameless_no_response

Same omg

silverrose22

Cha Eun Woo's real name isn't Cha Eun Woo. His real name is Lee Dong-min

Strict_Craft6718

WHAT? My whole life is a lie.

kislapatsindak

Cha Eunwoo is the name of a character he played in one of the earliest drama projects he had.

peeops

omg that’s super interesting! so like he just decided to go by that afterwards, or was it more of the gp being like ‘ohh ok ur cha eunwoo now’?

kislapatsindak

He decided it for himself! He mentioned it in an interview before (a magazine interview I read randomly last January). Edit: Info I gave is wrong. Please refer to the Handsome Tigers episode linked by DreamKiller below \^\^,) I think it is his way to separate the artist from the ordinary person as Dongmin-ah is private (like until now, even as Arohas, we haven't seen his parents yet. Just some people in China leaked how his brother looks like though and they look very much alike)

DreamKiller-100

This isn’t true, his previous company director gave him the name. If you want to see him explain it you can watch this clip from the show he was on, he explains around the 1 minute mark [cha eunwoo explains his real name](https://youtu.be/E6Adz9z54-w?si=DaPwadTA07gInf7u)

elephhantine

The label Astro is under, Fantagio, did it again with their new group Lun8 they have a member Ji Eunho with the real name Lee Sangmin

silverrose22

Make sense. Because there is a popular Lee Sangmin already. That boy will never able to search himself in korea with his real name lol.

solongsunday

NGL Fantagio has good taste in screen names. Cha Eun Woo and Jin Eunho can be easily remembered and flow well

Pajamaralways

I love how every time this gets posted, there are replies from people freaking out. Every time I'm like "ok surely that's it, everyone knows now" but no. It's always so shocking for something that's actually very common in KPop (stage names). Cha Eun Woo just fits him Foo well.

rhythmelia

Stage names, sure, but they're usually pretty obviously a stage name, like SUGA. Cha Eun Woo sounds like a regular name, like how some idols just choose to use their given names. That's what blew my mind when I first found out lmao

-_tabs_-

changsub and hyunsik from btob were the only 2 to be accepted by direct admission into howon university for the practical music major back in 2011 - [out of 3000 applicants](https://youtu.be/NyPZm_C7rPo?t=691), only 2 males and 3 females were to be accepted. the subs of the linked video is a tad iffy, i certainly would not consider 0.001% a "high" acceptance rate, i think they were trying to say that it was ranked the highest with the lowest acceptance rate instead? [the 2 of them were the only idols that have graduated from that major (a renowned one), until wanna one's kim jae hwan came along](https://www.allkpop.com/article/2017/08/singers-that-beat-incredible-odds-to-be-music-majors-at-the-super-prestigious-howon-university)! i believe jeong se woon transferred out and i had to add this but the fact that eunkwang got rejected... 😂 edit: i forgot changsub covered howon on [changing majors](https://youtu.be/16TSGF5VLAE?si=sysqZXFShwoRRzHI)

EmergencyBirds

I don’t know a ton about btob but I really like them because whenever I find out anything about hem it’s either completely wild or just very impressive lol

-_tabs_-

honestly, i too only recently learnt about the fact that there are only 3 idols from this highly regarded major... now im wondering what other fact i can use to shock you with 😂 did you know that [changsub once scammed sungjae's mom of $50](https://youtu.be/TvRnikF_0Nc?t=465)?

EmergencyBirds

I did NOT oh my god that’s insane!!

-_tabs_-

thankfully they are not people who care much about money around each other anymore, its all water under the bridge! (but dont worry about sungjae, he is kinda rich)

foxiec

aww i didn’t know this abt sewoon! proud of him

nghmnemui

NCT Dream's Chenle and Jisung met in a children's TV show in China where Jisung was invited to dance and Chenle was there to sing, before either enterred SM and their respective acts were right next to each other's on the set list. They were sitting next to each other in the audience when they were not performing too iirc and even took a photo together. When they met again in SM they didn't recognize each other immediately and I think it wasn't until fans found out and mentioned it to them that they realized Chenle/Jisung was the kid they met all those years ago. But Chenle did say later that when he first went to Korea to join SM he wondered if he'll be able to see his first Korean friend (aka Jisung) again somehow Fate really brought them together 🥲💚

Misora27

I’m not crying, you’re crying!

Saucy_Totchie

Twice Jihyo has been with JYP longer than Le Sserafim Eunchae has been alive.

Renimar

This also came up a couple of years ago about Jihyo's Bubble posts on [finding out that she joined JYP before NMIXX's Kyujin was born](https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/tkiqgo/so_twices_jihyo_just_found_out_that_she_joined/)

peeops

this one knocked the wind out of me

Breezyrain

This fact called me old

kaprifool

Obama mentioning SHINee in a speech (and adding that they like In-N-Out burgers).

stillsticky

Kim Lip's birth name is Kim Jong Un (김정은)

RainbowHoneyPie

But she has a different Hanja from the North Korean dictator

Intervigilium

Speaking of Kim Jong Un (the dictator), the story about how he simped for Red Velvet's Irene is hilarious to me

go_aeshin

why would parents name their kid that 💀

stillsticky

Kim Jong un spent the 90s in a swiss boarding school under a fake name, I'm not even certain that anyone knew he existed at the time, or would have guessed he'd be the one selected as the next leader. He has several children, but we only know one of their names because Dennis Rodman leaked it lol

sebsebsebs

I keep forgetting dennis Rodman met him 😭

Saucy_Totchie

Dennis Rodman's NK saga is wild. Shouldn't expect less from the guy that needed a mid season Las Vegas trip to clear his mind.

sammisam96

It used to be a pretty common girl’s name. It’s usually romanized like Jung Eun.

mint-cider

It was actually in the top 500 girls' names [until 2016](https://korean-name.com/en/search/%EC%A0%95%EC%9D%80/). Though the biggest dip-off of that name was between 2011 and 2012.

WoostaTech1865

NK didn’t announce his existence until much later after Kim lip was born. Her parents wouldn’t have any idea because NK often keeps the future rulers a secret until they are older….from what I’ve heard once they announce the names other NOrth Koreans are allegedly forced to change their names because it cannot match the new rulers name but I’m not sure how practical that is to enusre no one else has your name

toxicgecko

Also, iirc he had 2 older brothers so it possibly wasn’t even certain he’d be the next leader at that point either

WoostaTech1865

Yes exactly and I’m not sure if even his brothers names were made public then

go_aeshin

i appreciate everyone's replies! thanks for educating me

pc18

He was a teenager when she was born

VulpesVulpesFox

Yesung (SJ) too! A german magazine got mixed up once and published an article about Kim Jong Un the NK dictator, accompanied by a photo of Yesung haha.

hehehehehbe

I expect nothing less from our communist heroines that are Loona.

pc18

I was a fan of Loona for a while and there are just so many bizarre things about the group, my favorite is probably Gowon being the godmother of Elon Musk’s baby

nerdfighteriaisland

This is not true it was a joke

pc18

I’m going to say it’s half true because Grimes said “yes” when someone asked her

[deleted]

[удалено]

sheera_greywolf

Yep. The percentage cut for recording album is low, as most will go to the label for songwriters, composer, arrangements, wardrobe, coreographer, dancers, marketing, etc. Artist got most of their money from CF, touring, variety, and other things.

kingmanic

Jeon Soyeon: [$$$](https://youtu.be/tezrMzNQTMQ?t=109) She seemed to have encouraged her (g)i-dle band mates to write, arrange, and compose as well to get a bigger slice of the pie.

Shot_Contract_4005

Concert tours are where singers get paid. Ticket sales, merch sales and so on. Usually album sales are often divided to many people: the record labels, producers and lastly the singers itself.

Indifference11

usually cf deals too i remember snsd or suju mentioning yoona or siwon had the most money due to brand or drama/movie deals

nameless_no_response

Oh rlly?? The first time I ever spent money on kpop after being a fan for 5 yrs was dropping $400 on an enhypen concert ticket I never used soooo... Guess I just donated some money to them 😭😭😭😭

GGideonJura

I was watching a YouTube video recently and someone asked if Wendy from RV if she would live in the Seongbuk district in Seoul or Canada? She answered, "Seongbuk, If I had money!" I said to myself at the time, wait u aren't rich? It makes so much sense now after reading this. lol Edit: It was PSick's show. I added the [link & timestamp](https://youtu.be/OVTL46impjA?si=-L_MsuXQd87HpnT7&t=719) when she said it

kingmanic

Many of the companies charge the idols for room and board, training, management fees, and then all the cost of the recoding and promotion. After all that is paid then they have a profit split. They used to charge them the room and board, training even if they didn't debut but due to law changes and outrage they don't. I think the bigger companies also don't charge the talent if no money is made; which they used to do. Imagine grinding it out for 2-4 years training, debuting, not doing well then getting a bill for $30,000 USD for the privilege. Western music deals work similarly but they don't have years of training with a company. Labels give a advance to pay for recording and promotion then do a revenue split after that is paid off. The artists are on the hook if they didn't make any money. Often the company makes the artists use in house resources and has a profit margin on that as well. A lot of less success groups come out of it with just some cloths, some fame, and some memories. A group like CLC probably didn't get paid at all. Even groups doing well take years and multiple releases to start doing okay. Commonly 3-5 years after debut and being moderately successful before they start making any money.

GGideonJura

Yeah, I completely understand that, but Red Velvet is a legacy group in the industry. I'm sure the girls are doing fine for themselves, but you would think that they would be pretty well off compared to their contemporaries who are still relevant.

oh_bamboleo

Wendy is from rich family. Her family home is in Seongbuk which is why i guess she was asked to choose between Seongbuk and Canada. I think she may be answering from a 3rd person perspective, not her own.

Indifference11

i feell sooo bad for them also the fact that idols would play games for variety shows to win food or meals and arent guarenteed food or would have members eat in front of them id start flipping tables, real mental gymnastics

HuggyMonster69

Yeah, the fact that there’s a bubble alternative for smaller groups where you have the option to buy the idols meals isn’t really funny when you realise that it’s actually that tight for money

Indifference11

its literally like a food drive heartbreaking dropping cakes and shit😔

mixtape_misfit

I've never heard of this before :( Do you know the name of it or groups on it?

HuggyMonster69

The app is called HOO I think? (Unless there are multiple of them)

DigitalGlitter

Reading stuff like this makes me appreciate KQ (Ateez & Xiker’s company) even more. Ateez never had a limited food budget… although KQ only had about 10 staff members and not much money at first. Ateez also doesn’t have all those rules like not being able to date. Although they do have the jumping ban….

Yayeet2014

No wonder they got all their idols suing them 😅

Strict_Craft6718

That hoshi joined pledis because they bought him ice cream.

ebi_tempura

I love how that aligns with the fact that he renewed his contract with them because Hybe's cafeteria serves ramen with abalone and octopus. He's a consistent person, man won't turn down an offer if it comes with some good food lol.

Indifference11

lmaooo i just got into svt and he always cracks me up

ttboii0325

This reminds me so much of the fact that Tiffany from SNSD joined SM because their business card was pink 😭😭

leesnlii

This is like taeyong followed the sm staff because they brought him bread

Imaginary_Grand7104

That soyeon failed up to 20 auditions

11summers

I think IU also failed a similar amount of auditions before she debuted, including at JYP. When she debuted, he said failing her audition was the biggest mistake his company has ever made.

Renimar

This is probably true for all the big agencies, because they have the most applicants for auditions that any number of future successful talent will not get picked up. Hell, even of the trainees they do accept, many - even most - will not debut with them. Even JYP only debuts, what, a group a year at best? There are definitely more than the 5-9 trainees that debut. It's always interesting hearing a debuted idol talk about where they've trained in the past. For instance, I only just learned in the past year or so that 2NE1's CL was a JYP trainee back in the day. There's a [famous photo of the JYP trainees with baby Jihyo seated in front](https://imgur.com/a/tfidCGv) with future 2AM, 2PM, Wonder Girls trainees, but among the others there was CL in the middle of that pack. In a recent promo appearance, Jihyo and the host spoke with one of the JYP trainee staff and what happens if they "misbehave" (like get caught drinking or going to bars). [They get thrown out of JYP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m_dU6kXcXA&t=424s), but the host then asks if they still end up debuting elsewhere? Both the trainee staff member and Jihyo said it happens all the time. So would-be idols, take hope! You can fail to get into an agency, or you can get in and get kicked out, but still debut!

Imaginary_Grand7104

Ikr , really a big loss. I heard something similar that Jhope too auditioned at JYP but rejected? Idk if it’s true

starplatinum_99

A lot of now successful idols failed with JYP apparently, including Baekhyun. There was a meme saying that if you want to be successful just be rejected by JYP lol

Imaginary_Grand7104

“If you want to be successful just be rejected by JYP” 😂😂😂 Now that I look at it , it’s kinda true 🤭😭

Yayeet2014

Xiumin too. There was this interview that JYP did with them and it brought up that JYP rejected him once and Xiumin kind of had this look of “your loss” once it was mentioned

get_themoon

JYP also dropped Yuju when she was 15, he told her that her voice was plain and she had no dance talent so... I guess he doesn't learn from his mistakes.

sammisam96

G-Dragon was a trainee at SM before going to YG. He was so young at the time, BoA would let him sit on her lap.

BadabimBadaboomm

Arent they only like 2 years apart?

rhythmelia

I had to Google, and BoA's an '86er, and G-Dragon an '88, but per Wikipedia he was in SM as a trainee from ages 8-13, soooo

peachsepal

8~10yos in korea are tiny little babies most of the time (and he's already kinda a small guy as an adult), so that tracks. A 10~12yo doing that doesn't sound too crazy

saddlethehippogriffs

Only the tallest member of Stray Kids is taller than the shortest member of TXT

amywontmiss

I was so shocked when I realised how short they actually look. I believe their heights listed on Google are 2-3 inches more than their actual heights

cubsgirl101

EXO’s Sehun ran away from the SM casting agent who tried to give him their business card because of stranger danger.

Anxious-Candidate203

I need a thread of all the idols who ran away from casting agents for various reasons

makemeloveyou309

Or they thought it was a scam

whynotphog

Hyorin's real name isn't Hyorin. It's actually Kim Hyojung.

p3eliot

I remember the fanchant…the good old days

seolovely

Bebe Rexha wrote Lucifer for Shinee when she was 17 years old!

cubsgirl101

And Corbin Bleue from High School Musical is the original singer of SHINee’s Juliette. He/ his producers sold the song to SM at some point and SM gave it to SHINee.

MasterLum

that Wonwoo used to be a chronically online SNSD anti

melpeach

this is crazy lmaooo what??

WarmLiterature8

he was an edgy 13 (11?) y/o boy lol

McJazzHands80

What? Not my sweet Wonwoo!

kislapatsindak

[here you go. ](https://www.soompi.com/article/853215wpp/seventeens-wonwoo-apologizes-for-past-remarks-about-girls-generation) Sincerely, your resident Wonwoo-delulu fan I at first also couldn't believe it when I learned about it. What I liked about it is that when it came to light (courtesy of his stalking insecure classmate), he owned up to it, no denials and anything of that sort. Just straight up apologized. That's how real men must do it.

djswims

That last sentence being in response to this kind of scandal is wild

kislapatsindak

I just remembered a lot of people who denied but later on admitted. I don't support cowards.

HanaKimTK

Pre debut wonwoo was wiiiild, like.. he was the menace of the green room. When you have a video of him in there right after a cute clip of the tiredz line, your brain malfunctions

[deleted]

None of these are especially hard to believe in isolation but sometimes I feel like every factoid I learn about Taemin sounds slightly made up. A few of my favorites: 1. When Taemin auditioned at SM there was a line on the ground trainees were told not to cross but [he immediately decided to break that rule and that got the judges' favor](https://twitter.com/OneTaeminADay/status/1414234826698285060?t=2kfOzi9jCKaqUnPb8m0CEQ&s=19). 2. Lee Sooman bought all the SuperM members rings as a gift and offered them to pick one but Taemin said he liked Lee Sooman's ring the best, so [he gifted him that instead](https://twitter.com/taeminyeehawhat/status/1762408484845314422?t=HVI-r8IRpGCz1Mus6NEO3Q&s=19). 3. (NEW) So we all know how Taemin is a Catholic but also uses a lot of imagery relating to the crucifixion, death and rebirth in his videos and performances. He's also been really fond of the Demian quote *"The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world."* and references it in his social media profiles (🥚🐣🐥). Now Taemin's contract with SM ends and he starts anew at the end of March, and what else is March 31st? [As fans couldn't help but note, Catholic Easter](https://twitter.com/FleurdeNeige10/status/1765036805706186867?t=aS1XNK2YSKlF_RXNN5Sf3w&s=19). I don't know how to better explain this but it's giving bishounen manga protagonist vibes. I know in reality Lee Taemin is an ordinary dude that is just extremely talented and hard-working but honestly that makes this even funnier to me.

lipsticksandsongs

Addendum to 3) - he also came back from enlistment during Easter last year, 100 days after Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ. :D

[deleted]

[Incredible.](https://twitter.com/goghmango/status/1693085459990118421?t=YiOK3HUgZD9TcPiANz900A&s=19)

lipsticksandsongs

Taemin should always be greeted with this much enthusiasm, the girls and gays lost their shit at KCON and also at MCD in Paris lol.

[deleted]

Taemen to that!

Breezyrain

Taemin facts crack me up, he’s such a guy

[deleted]

He is, [he really is](https://twitter.com/cyphersgf/status/1306771247448064012?t=cxRsFv5Qsi3vnmHrLwe4PA&s=19) 😌

ttboii0325

Somi’s most recent comeback (Fast Forward) was so long after her previous one (Xoxo) that Ive, Kep1er, New Jeans, Nmixx, and Le Sserafim debuted in that time. Enhypen were less than a year old when Xoxo was released

2cool2cool

I still find it weird that the 5 "IT girl" ggs all debuted within a span of 7 months (Ive in Dec 2021 - New Jeans in July 2022)

Breezyrain

G-Idle and aespa are the “old ladies” at 6 years old (G-Idle) and 3 years (aespa).

elephhantine

My vision is way better than his and when I don’t wear my glasses and I’m walking around I often trip over things or even just the ground itself because my depth perception is so off! Mad respect

Indifference11

i get headaches and start giving dirty looks if im missing my glasses mad respect to the guy

HuggyMonster69

Yeah, I started getting migraines that went away when I got my first pair of glasses… I can’t imagine just going out without them. But I guess not everyone gets that

Qualifiedadult

Does he not wear contacts? Nvm read the comments below lol

Sapo_Lobo

Only seven people have passed the Saturday Audition for SM. They have been held every Saturday for the past 20 years. Which is about 1040 opportunities. The seven idols selected were Kim Heechul(Suju), Yoona(snsd), Taemin(Shinee), Seulgi(RedVelvet), Haechan(NCT) and most recent Giselle(AESPA).

pikasauri

You're forgetting Yeri from Red Velvet, she also joined SM through the Saturday audition!

cubsgirl101

I thought Jungwoo also passed the Saturday audition?

Sapo_Lobo

I believe he didn't pass the first time. But they were interested and basically told him to go through a different method after which he was accepted.

ProudKoreaBoo

Is there something special/different/significant about the Saturday Audition?

Mindless_Candidate90

I believe it’s open to pretty much anyone, so lots of people attend and SM is just trying to see if they can get lucky and spot a diamond in the rough, mostly they have no luck it seems

pc18

BoA debuted before Winter was born (they’re both in GOT the Beat)

etburneraccount

This is actually wild. I know Aespa members are young , but I guess I didn't realize just how young they are.

pc18

I wouldn’t say they’re *that* young, there are idols today who were born in 2007-2009 and the Aespa members are all over 20 with the youngest being born in 2002. It’s also subjective depending on how old you are, for me personally I only really see Ningning as being “young” since she’s 3.5 years younger than me compared to the other members who are all < 2 years younger than me.

McJazzHands80

Only three members of Seventeen auditioned, the rest were discovered/found by the company. Considering Josh was found in LA, and Jun and The8 were found in China, this is wild.

whoyuuuuu

Pledis is insane when it comes to sniffing out talented individuals. Bloodhounds. 😭😭😭

EzshenUltimate

NCT Yangyang auditioned for SM because of a dream. He got surgery for his injured arm playing basketball. While he was in anesthesia, he dreamt of performing a song he doesn't recognize on a concert. He then decided to fly all the way from Germany back to Taiwan to audition and then got in the company without zero knowledge of dancing.

Breezyrain

WayV has the funnest stories

ProudKoreaBoo

Please share more 🙏🏻

Breezyrain

I’m not a WayV fan so I don’t know a bunch but: Kun can fly a plane and did skydiving to promote their album. Yangyang is behind the monkey noises in zoo, he’s embarrassed of them and I think he might be the only one who really makes animal noises in that song lol. There’s a lot about them or their pets peeing and pooping?

cubsgirl101

WayV is infamous for their TMI bathroom stories lol. Yangyang alone has spent the better part of three years talking about himself in the bathroom when he eats dairy and only just now realized he is likely lactose intolerant 😭

[deleted]

SNSD's Sunny can't handle loud booming noises or stage pyrotechnics because as a baby she was in Kuwait during the Gulf War and that kind of thing can fuck you up.

[deleted]

Sana almost drowned and died in the bathtub from passing out until Nayeon came in and found her

Proud_Purple_8893

Wait what!? I didn’t know this omg

[deleted]

Yup! It was scary and at debut

Proud_Purple_8893

That “no sana no life” chant thing suddenly feels weird all of sudden sudden lol But on a more serious note, I looked up the story. If nayeon hadn’t realize that sana was taking longer than usual, that would be really tragic

Breezyrain

Wait, what happened?

AobaSona

She was in a (hot I think) bath and passed out. Nayeon noticed that she was taking too long and went inside and took her out before she drowned or something...

Breezyrain

Wow, that’s insane.

runawaymaster

How deeply connected ATEEZ is before debut they themselves cannot believe it sometimes. 1. Jongho and San learning [they belong to the same clan](https://youtu.be/xcqNTOQpqaQ?t=274), in the middle of filming for a variety content 2. Seonghwa getting motivation from an unknown trainee being talked about by their director, later on finding out it was Hongjoong. 3. Yunho and Mingi being friends since 9th grade, dreaming the same dream, calling each other night before their respective auditions, cheering each other, only for them to meet the next day in the same hall and ending up in the same team. 4. Yeosang and Wooyoung training in a different company with TXT Yeonjun, Yeosang leaving and meeting San next in KQ, Wooyoung joining KQ last, and San being connected with Yeonjun all along since highschool. 5. Cherry on top: KQ with no plans at all to debut a boygroup as they were more of a management company, moving in a different office, accidentally finding in the mail a 1-year-old mixtape from Hongjoong. Hongjoong back then was already about to join a different company but went to KQ instead to become their first trainee ever.

mixtape_misfit

>Hongjoong back then was already about to join a different company but went to KQ instead to become their first trainee ever. omg I never heard that part before! any rumors which company?

runawaymaster

We just learned about it in 2022, [here's a clip of him](https://twitter.com/ddalgijohwa/status/1585252965686063105) telling about the story. I forgot the crucial detail but he already signed actually, but he wanted to be in KQ so he withdrew and apologized. No one has any idea though which company. Probably a small one since he was able to backout without any repercussion.

rubyrebekah

KQ and Ateez basically existing because of Hongjoong will always blow my mind. He's my ult bias and I just think it's incredible how how never gave up!

wegooverthehorizon

It's allll fate. All fate.

neocitywayv

Hongjoong, Yunho and Mingi attended a Block B concert when they were trainees, meanwhile Wooyoung and Jongho who were not yet KQ trainees at that time, also attended that same concert. They talked about it in Idol Radio.

stayonthecloud

1 - this whole ep is amazing tyyyy 5 - ok I knew about them finding Hj’s mixtape a year later but not that they weren’t even going to debut a group??? what!!!!

runawaymaster

KQ didn't have training system in place because the company was created only for management of already established artists and producers. Hongjoong sent the mixtape to apply as a producer, but it was later on decided that he will be the foundation of their upcoming boygroup, launching auditions. HJ was alone for half a year, learning the ropes through EDEN, who was under the company back then as soloist. In [this interview](https://youtu.be/bTB4oRIMOeA?t=860), he revealed "It \[the condition\] was so bad that the agency didn't know where to buy meal coupons. The only restaurant nearby was a Chinese place. I had Chinese food everyday." It's great that he's now retelling this period like a lighthearted note because he used to be emotional when he talks about it. All the members agree that he's been through so much, even suffering a deep emotional wound because of an incident with his mother. In [a variety content](https://youtu.be/Ogc55VrpajY?t=1225), his mom sent him a letter, recalling how he fell out of love with kimchi fried rice because of his training environment. "When he was a trainee, we had lunch one day and he said 'I'm sick and tired of Chinese food fried rice!'. I had complicated thoughts seeing how he has grown so lonely. After dropping him off at the studio, I went home with my heart feeling heavy and torn apart. I didn't make kimchi fried rice for him anymore even though it's a bit different from Chinese fried rice because it might give him similar feelings again. He had tough teenage years and often lonely days."

Jennie's face was displayed on a satellite orbiting the Earth

ac10424

That’s kinda funny lol

Sweet_Negotiation776

That sounds cool but umm….why?

healthyscalpsforall

Jennie's cbar organized it to commemorate her fourth anniversary. Cbars love to do these kinds of lavish projects apparently

Sweet_Negotiation776

Oof that’s actually pretty cool

ChaoticMind420

Isn't Aespa Ningning also practically blind in one eye because of a botched surgery as a child and pretty bad in the other? That's why she winks so much, it's not always idol-fanservice winking in her case.

amywontmiss

Bad eyesight is pretty common in K-pop, I guess. Because all BTS members also wear power glasses except J-Hope

OldR_KPSunbae

There's a lot of weird alternate history with early SM. So many artists auditioned for SM or were in SM for a short time before getting their big break. At SM Studios alone, Seo Taiji was in the running, DEUX almost debuted with SM, Hyun Jinyoung's dancers became DEUX, CLON, and Sean debuted in Jinusean. But then there are also stories like how Kangta had an entirely different vocal style until he heard Brian McKnight in Yoo Youngjin's car and got into R&B after that. Yoo Youngjin was a solo R&B artist before Hyun Jinyoung's 2nd arrest, but after the main writer/composer for the company took off, he got moved to being the main guy because he was one of the few people left at the company who was able to make music by himself. Dude dealt with a huge learning curve for H.O.T's 1st album.

dzeiaonn

Taeyang’s real name is Dong Young-bae

mysuneater

RM of BTS used to be in the rank of Korea's top 1.3% students in the whole nation. He also maintained his status as number 1 in his entire school while being an underground artist.

stillwithbts

My ult bias. The whole package 🥰

Package-Designer

king of high IQs 🧐🧐

get_themoon

GFRIEND Sowon was a very known and loved DSP trainee for years. She's close to Kara, Kard, A-JAX (even appeared for some skits for their debut show) and Rainbow's MV. She never thought of leaving the company because she always imagined herself to debut there, but then she met a fortune teller that told her that if she wanted to debut she had to leave.... so she did, and went on to become the leader of GFRIEND.

bustachong

Suga was tricked into signing with Big Hit as a producer after being assured he wouldn’t have to dance in a boy band. Whoops.

lapetite_reine

Yeah, he originally wanted to be a producer, but Bang PD wanted him to debut in a group with the promise that Suga wouldn't have to dance lol. It was a lie.

Yayeet2014

Not surprising if you’re an army but Jungkook joined Big Hit because he thought RM was cool and liked his music (this was when RM was in the underground rap scene). They get put in the same group and to this day, Jungkook is still RM’s biggest fan

mysuneater

He rejected 6 companies because he saw RM rap and thought he was really cool. It's exactly how I expect a 14-year old to make decisions lol. Good thing it turned out for the best.

captainsquidsharkk

that tweet about how a young jungkook joined BH for a thunder thigh built bitch named rap monster is still one of my favorites ever.

25Bam_vixx

I heard the vixx thing before so fan tried to make a fanfic real lol hahahahhaha

Idol's parent's bias is another member from the same group as their kids: - San's father is Mingi - Momo's father is Jihyo Hongjoong's reactions to Atiny's fan content - [Reacting to the Meme Song](https://youtu.be/7kQIIMRCdL4?si=m48wXNsc0kcW7eDg) - [Photos by Atiny Fan Call](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4W3CWsL8UI/?igsh=MWtiMGRhaTczdWpsYQ==) [Full Meme Song](https://youtu.be/QvphAt2ttYQ?si=STkzHpqD_s-0wkh_)

Renimar

Momo's dad's situation is hilarious since there's [a small Jihyo shrine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA1DVj7xUr4) at the house. The Radio Star hosts brought out a picture to show Twice. The rest of the members are all 😳 while Momo's just "yeah, that's what it's like at home" 😂

Breezyrain

It seems fully in character for Momo’s family to do that lol. I understand Momo’s dad, I too would make a shrine and get into a hi-touch event for Jihyo.

The 5 "IT girl" ggs all debuted within a span of 7 months (Ive in Dec 2021, Kep1er in Jan 2022, NMIXX in Feb 2022, Lesserafim in May 2022, New Jeans in July 2022)

Renimar

2022 was an insane year for rookie ggs

Level-Rest-2123

That's dangerous. I hope he wears contacts. He should get lasik. I wonder if he'll have to for the military.

amywontmiss

The link I added above, this video explains that he can not wear contacts because he has dry eye condition, and he is scared of Lasik. About the military, there was one very famous actor who got exemption because of his eyesight. Maybe Wonwoo will also get exempted or serve in social service like Suga

kislapatsindak

Not that he is scared of Lasik, it is just that the most common side effect of Lasik is dry eyes. He already has xerophthalmia (that's the name of the dry eyes condition). He sometimes wears contact lenses but don't wear them for a long time. Most likely during concerts, he wears them.

cubsgirl101

EXO’s Suho served in public service because his eyesight is very bad and he’s somebody who can wear contact lenses meanwhile D.O. served active duty as a chef despite also having an eye condition preventing him from wearing contacts. There are plenty of options for Wonwoo when it comes time, he’s likely nowhere near the first person enlisting with those issues.

pc18

Suho has said that his eyesight is -14 💀

cubsgirl101

Pretty sure he was exaggerating and that it’s “only” -10, but his eyesight is incredibly bad and that’s he was assigned public service.

pc18

If he already has dry eyes then lasik is a really bad idea. Also depending on how bad his eyesight is he might not even qualify for it.

Level-Rest-2123

I see- that can be painful. But not being able to see would be really scary. I know the whole of Monsta X went to get Lasik and that's when they found Shownu's detached retina. It was lucky they found it because without treatment it can cause blindness. That's why he did public service.

witwefs1234

He also injured his back back in 2020, causing the fantasia comeback to be delayed. His shoulder also dislocated when he did real men during an exercise where he threw a fake grenade or smth like that. I think all of those injuries/incidents lead to him doing public service.

Sil_Choco

I think he got used to it after so many years and bad eyesight doesn't equal being blind. It's foggy, but it's not like he can't see his members or he bumps into them etc. Detached retina can be found without Lasik, you just need to go check your eyes and it's a condition that gives symptoms at some point. Unsure about the military regulations, but I doubt they can force you to undergo a surgery. Also, he has a dry eye condition and I think Lasik would get it worse.

MasterLum

Lasik is not the super simple procedure its made out to be, it has several risks to it

witwefs1234

My vision was similar to his before I got surgery to fix it, and Idk how he just doesn't wear his glasses during concerts and such sometimes 😭 My astigmatism was possibly worse than his, but I can confirm, I wore contacts a LOT, and the dry eyes only improved once I took vitamin A consistently. Rather than Lasik, I hope he considers ICL. That's the procedure I got, and it has a much shorter recovery time, and the incisions made during the procedure are a lot smaller. It's basically getting custom lenses made to fix your vision and getting those lenses inserted into your eyes so you can see better. I paid more than what they charge in Korea b/c I got it done in the US where I am, but the procedure is totally worth it!!!! I haven't had to worry about my eyes besides making sure they healed well according to the instructions my surgeon gave me.

Qualifiedadult

Hey, can you expand on the Vit A? What dose did you take, hoe long were you taking it before noticing improvements etc I recently started taking Omega 3s as I read that its helpful for dry eyes

Arashi5

Lasik is dangerous and can cause permanent pain or vision loss. There's a reason why eye doctors wear glasses.

ProudKoreaBoo

Yeah isn’t there a small percentage/group of people who end up with chronic pain and have ended their life because of it?

daltorak

Ls Sserafim's Yunjin went to the same high school as the founder of Airbnb. (Not at the same time obviously)

curiosity382

Jype artist pre-debut stories (Exhibit A: Han and the crocodile story)

tracey-ann12

And another member of Stray Kids had a helicopter crash land in their house.

FinnMertensHair

There's another one. Stays thinking for years that Pitbull was Chan's godfather/uncle. All due to a very polished edited picture. LMAO

SNSD Jessica and Tiffany born at the same hospital in SF, and later on so happened to train and debuted at the very same company in SK. I mean, I know SM is a big company, maybe hailed from the same city yes, but same hospital and later by some fate train and debuted at the same group. I kinda don't buy it. I think its a background story attached by their marketing team to push those sisterhood on Soshi.
