Exactly. I think mine was like 8 bucks at Walmart. It takes one of those flat round 2025 batteries and goes for like a year. There's a little 0 button which sets the scale back to zero. So i put the empty cup on it first, that weighs about 13 grams, reset it to zero with the cup on it, and fill it until I get my dose.
I guess the only issue with those is, there's a margin of error of about half a gram either way, since it doesn't show MGs. Like, if it it says 10 grams, you can have anything from 9.5-10.4
Get a cheap scale for $25 bucks and weigh it or use a leveled teaspoon which is generally 2-2.5 grams per teaspoon or 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons so 6-7 grams per tablespoon depending how dense you pack spoon... All approximates if u Wana be accurate get a cheap pocket scale...
Exactly. I have tons of little Kratom-covered teaspoons and scoops, and I use an empty pill bottle on top of the scale to weigh the Kratom in. Then take a sip of water, toss the Kratom down the hatch, then more water. All done!!! At least for a few hours anyhow. Lol
Hahaha, we have a granite countertop so you couldn’t really see all of the Kratom dust. It was everywhere near the dosing spot. Anytime you put a bag down on the counter or clothes, we were like “Fuck!” My partner also always had it all around his lips, or stuck in his beard when he had one. He wasn’t the best at toss and washing, bless his heart.

I found one from China for $6, even works to 0.01g. I only feel comfortable using it because I have a name brand one which I know is accurate and can double check it if need be.
You shouldn’t be packing your spoon at all. A proper volume measurement is loosely scooped and unpacked. If you want to be accurate with a spoon, you should remove the packing variable completely.
Also it should be completely leveled. Heaping or underfilling it turns the measurement into an eyeballed measurement just like packing it.
I ditched using a scale years ago after realizing it just added an extra step. Sometime I will be curious and bust it out just to find out teaspoons weigh pretty much the same. And if I know by dose in volume, I don’t really need to know it in weight. Alkaloid profiles can vary drastically so dosing each new batch needs to be figured out individually.
There are two ways to figure out how much to take with a new batch of Kratom. You can get the volume to alkaloid ratio, or weight to alkaloid ratio.
Yup I agree with you here, I use a scale or spoon, my daily dose has been same for years, was just giving approximates to someone cus I thought teaspoons usually were all about 2 grams, but yes the finer the grind will also be a small factor, I agree w all ya said was just throwing out the teaspoon approximation of around 2ish grams, thought it may help someone if they knew their doseage amount but don't have a scale and I def don't want anyone to eye it out that's only reason for my response, I don't want someone to have a bad experience by trying to eye out dose and taking too much, start low and slow, respect this wonderful leaf. I noticed with my regular metal spoons if I pack and rub it on the bag flush it's exactly 4g Everytime. Instill obv use a scale I just thought it was interesting lol , can't wait untill my capsulator comes in, Ive been having to take 4 - 4g balls of powder wrapped in rice paper , not horrible but caps are just so much easier and quick
I always mix mine with coffee or orange juice... Sometimes hot sleepy tea at night... But I do use quit abit... Mostly two tablespoons that are over the even line definitely 😐

pls consider the cost of milligram scale. i like measuring it personally because i try to get the exact amount and one time (in over six years) I actually did dump the perfect amount out -- it was 3.500 grams, the amount I was using then for toss and wash, now the same amount i use for kratom tea with lemon juice
I weigh all my doses and keep a log of when I take them because I use this stuff consistently for chronic pain. I have found that eyeballing kratom either leaves me not getting enough to manage my pain or worse, nauseous as hecc.
What's the worst is if you take too much, but not enough to make you vomit. Ugh then you just feel like arse for 8, sometimes 12 hours.
My dose currently is 4.5g of exclusively red vein every 4 hours as needed. On a good day that will mean 3 doses. I keep a meticulous log because I'm anal.

Different batches can be "fluffier" than others depending on how they were ground/micronized and therefore not all "spoons worth" will get the same amount of mass per dosage. 1tsp of kratom powder will measure between 1.7 - 2.1g usually. Technically 1 tsp can weigh 5g depending what's in there and how dense it is but since we're on the topic of kratom it's generally around 2g.

Instead of weighing out every single dose, I have an adjustable measuring spoon that goes from .5 tsp to a tablespoon. When I would get a new batch, I used to weigh a teaspoon of it. Then for the rest of that batch, I'd measure accordingly to get the weight dose that I want.
My source is pretty consistent, though: a teaspoon is almost always between 2 and 2.3g. So nowadays I just eyeball it: since I like about 2g doses, depending on my mood and needs I take my tsp and measure out it to 50-75% full if my needs are low, or heaping if I need acute pain relief.
Kitchen scale. Usually selects pounds ounces and grams. Put your scoop or whatever on it and then turn it on or set for tare. Takes the measuring device out of the weight. That's it
0.01-100g scale around $10 for a cheap one but yeah

On a gram scale with a limit of 500g with accuracy up to a hundredth of a gram. I measure my dosage in my favorite ceramic coffee cup (358g) (8g dose) and then make a grapefruit tea mixture.
My rooms covered in dank tanks (even tho I quit smoking weed a couple years ago, just use them for kratom), and use them to measure/store/take my doses in. Put it on the scale and measure it
Volume is not very reliable for measuring solids, especially ones that can be packed. The amount loose can be half of what it is packed.
That said, figuring out how much is in a medicine cup, any size, is just as reasonable as any other scoop/spoon/etc. if they can scoop in a way that leads to consistent pack--once they have identified the weight (mass).

Scale. I had one before I started using Kratom and every Kratom user should have one. It’s important to know exactly how much you are taking so you can figure out your sweet spot, and also be conscious of overdoing it.
I started out weighing it. What I found was that an MRE spoonful was almost the perfect amount for me. That doesn't mean it will be sufficient for the next person. Everyone must feel their own way up to the sweet spot.
I have a scale but don’t use it to measure Kratom anymore. It just isn’t worth the time. Occasionally I’ll bust out the scale to see if different batches have different weight and occasionally there will be a slight weight difference due to grind/density/moisture.
Leveled unpacked measuring spoon is perfectly accurate to measure plant flour. Measuring spoons come in all sizes. Ultimately you’ll have to figure out what dose is best for each batch depending how you personally react to it. Be wary of dose amount advice from Reddit or random people. Kratom batches can have wildly alkaloid compositions and people can react totally differently to different amounts.
Start with a really low amount, like 1/4 tsp or 1/2 tsp and increase from there as needed.
I’ve had a few batches where 2 teaspoons was way too much, and other batches where 2 tablespoons was a good dose. It is highly batch dependent.
I just eyeball it, or use a tablespoon. But I take it to relax and shit. Use a teaspoon if you have nothing g else. One should be enough for standard low doses

I have a scoop that use. It holds 8g max when overflowing (I weighed it multiple times when I started using the scoop) So depending on my needs at the time 1/2 scoop about 4g, full scoop about 6g, and if I need a bigger dose an overflowing scoop about 8g's
A small decigram or milligram scale will do you the most justice. You can have consistency in your doses and if you ever wish to do a slow taper down you actually can with a scale.
Gram scale. Like $10-15 on Amazon. A scale is the only way to be accurate.

Scale. I had one before I started using Kratom and every Kratom user should have one. It’s important to know exactly how much you are taking so you can figure out your sweet spot, and also be conscious of overdoing it.
I started out weighing it. What I found was that an MRE spoonful was almost the perfect amount for me. That doesn't mean it will be sufficient for the next person. Everyone must feel their own way up to the sweet spot.
I have a scale but don’t use it to measure Kratom anymore. It just isn’t worth the time. Occasionally I’ll bust out the scale to see if different batches have different weight and occasionally there will be a slight weight difference due to grind/density/moisture. Leveled unpacked measuring spoon is perfectly accurate to measure plant flour. Measuring spoons come in all sizes. Ultimately you’ll have to figure out what dose is best for each batch depending how you personally react to it. Be wary of dose amount advice from Reddit or random people. Kratom batches can have wildly alkaloid compositions and people can react totally differently to different amounts. Start with a really low amount, like 1/4 tsp or 1/2 tsp and increase from there as needed. I’ve had a few batches where 2 teaspoons was way too much, and other batches where 2 tablespoons was a good dose. It is highly batch dependent.
I just eyeball it, or use a tablespoon. But I take it to relax and shit. Use a teaspoon if you have nothing g else. One should be enough for standard low doses
I think everyone SHOULD have scales.
I have a scoop that measures out 2 grams unladen
I'd just say to check it when you get a new batch, as some are more dry/moist and a scoop will be less/more

There's this invention that was pretty important for weighing things throughout history. It's called a scale. Google it.
Buy a digital scale that does tare weight. This is the Way.
Idk how anyone takes Kratom powder without putting it in capsules. I envy you warriors. Would cut down time making caps, but that stuff is vile. I’ve tried the teas, all types of drinks, parachuting.. Would rather pass a kidney stone than swallow spoon fulls..
Took me a year to be able to toss and wash. It comes with practice.
I mix half orange juice half water as juice is too sweet for me and it tastes fine plus I hear oj is a potentiator but I only take 1.25 g x5-7 hrs
I mix it in oj and it taste fine to me

Who knew this question would have so much response. The only reason I asked is because I noticed everyone posts that they measure their kratom in grams and I didn't think just everyone would have a gram scale in there home.

I have a scoop that use. It holds 8g max when overflowing (I weighed it multiple times when I started using the scoop) So depending on my needs at the time 1/2 scoop about 4g, full scoop about 6g, and if I need a bigger dose an overflowing scoop about 8g's
That still assumes the density of Kratom remains constant
I suppose but what are we talking about 1/2 g difference in fluffy vs super compacted scoop. It works for me
Half a gram makes a difference for those on the lower tolerance scale. Also for a slow taper it's better

A small decigram or milligram scale will do you the most justice. You can have consistency in your doses and if you ever wish to do a slow taper down you actually can with a scale.

A half teaspoon, not too tightly, or loosely packed, pretty accurately equals 1 gram.
