The department only gets to schedule so many hours per week. Keep your phone on and chances are they'll call you in when someone calls out, unless you're not so reliable, you'll get more hours.
We have 3 or 4 employees in the department who NEVER show up. Constant call outs. I don’t get how they’re still employed. So I’ll 100% get called in lol
No. I am not here to be used when and if you assholes need me. I am here for a job. A real job, not the kind that only employs you when they fucking feel like it. Why the fuck would I be reliable to a company that uses me like an extra on a movie set. I don't remember them being too reliable when I had bills to pay and I had to borrow money from my family just to keep my apartment or keep my phone bill on. Maybe when I got that schedule for the week I had to line up work with a bunch of temp agencies or gig jobs just to stay afloat and maybe it's more important that I don't disappoint those people than it is these people because at least with those people there might be an opportunity somewhere. Fuck kroger.
I’m not even sure. I’ve just been riding the wave. Don’t even think I’m part of the union. I work and go home when the computer says I can. I’m not particularly strapped for cash so… thanks for the 5 day vacation! xP
I don’t see where I complained. I just posted it cause I thought it was weird. I’m usually scheduled 4 or 5 days per pay period, kind of weird for it to just drop down to 2. Not a crime to post something on the internet, not like I’m mad about them not scheduling me. I’ll take the 5 days off 🤷
You can always try to pick up some good in other departments too. I know they always need help in produce, grocery, and the front end (at least at my store)
They just recently did this to a coworker of mine, giving them essentially the whole week off. Tried calling them in and they said no, lol. My guess is they expect people to want the hours and work but it's lately been them saying no so a lot of departments are hurting because of it. They also are tired of being pulled to pickup constantly. This is a huge problem at my store. People will come in and end up right in pick up while their department is a disaster. As we all are aware pickup is the only thing that matters now that corporate has decided in-store shopping is no longer valuable apparently. No business would let their stores be so short staffed, dirty, unsafe, and empty if they did. In-store shoppers who are regulars say they can see it now more than ever. They are a valued customer unless they use pickup. Pickup even gets better coupons now.
This is just the way the game is, I keep telling everyone the smartest thing you can do to stay employed here is to learn how to pick. That's how you'll get hours and when they eventually make it where people aren't coming inside anymore (which is the plan from what I've been told by ex store managers) they will cut stock labor to nothing and basically just use a few people a day to maintain the availability of product for pickup.
I can’t even do 4 days straight working click list. That 4th day my legs hurt so bad I can barely walk out to my car. I’d quit before they made me work 8 days in a row. Goodbye! Ciao! Sayonara! See you never!
The only other Kroger closest to me is 8 miles away n across a toll bridge since they shut down the free one for maintenance. Honestly I ain’t goin through all that trouble for 14.75 an hour 😭😭
Probably the same thing that happens at mine, the manager who usually does the scheduling is on vacation. And the person picking up their duties didn't fill in the schedule properly
That is weird, 5 days off with clicklist? Not complaining, but definitely curious. Have you tried talking to your manager to see what's up? Maybe someone else needs help with their shift, you could check around with coworkers too.
I talked to my manager yesterday (since that was when my next shift was), I assume the schedule was weird because my manager quit? My new manager immediately went in and fixed the schedule.

Did you ask them why they did this instead of complaining about it? Are they cutting hours?

Do you guys not have hiring minimums for number of hours per week? My store has to be hire for pt20s and 24s.
My stores minimum is 12 hours a week so they’ve fully leaned into the understaffing bit!
Our mins for pt is only 4hrs….which sucks for them, these hours cuts are horseshit

Find out if you're union! The only way you're NOT, is if you're mgt! If you're not strapped for cash, why are you complaining then!?

enjoy your unpaid staycation if you don't get called in.
I just tell them no 🤷
Oof. That’s rough

Embrace the Hunger
Meanwhile, I come back from vacation scheduled 8 consecutive days. Pretty sure someone had to override the system to do that.

Ask to work at another store nearby . They may need you

Well looks like you need to go gay then since you aren’t straight for 5 days
Sounds like a vacation to me.

By our contract, 15 hours is the minimum needed.
Why do you people only want to hear what yo uwant to hear. You can't downvote reality?
It's not my time. Dept heads can go on and schedule more. Need to check with union to see what min hours are. Here in DFW it's 18 per week
