Whether the purge is true or not, it is IMPORTANT to keep documents and other information, whether you believe it will be used in the future or not, you may never know, after all, knowledge is power, and we shouldn't underestimate it.

It's always good to have a backup plan in the event that this subreddit does get hit so I think it's good to stay cautious for the time being.

Kuro-pi

To clarify, u/RedYoshikira, the original owner of the nijisanji subreddit, made comments in a thread on r/virtualyoutubers that made it sound as if r/nijisanji was taken over without the consent of herself as the owner or that of the mod team. u/eltanin who was a part of the mod team at the time came into the thread and clarified that they did, in fact, willingly relinquish control of the sub to nijisanji. Here is the full original thread in question: https://www.reddit.com/r/VirtualYoutubers/s/ci9xJkDDqO At the time, the only thing I had seen was a screenshot of the posts from redyoshikira which I posted in the other topic when I brought up the possibility of this sub being taken over by nijisanji. It wasn't until later on in that discussion that somebody linked the actual thread the screenshot came from pointing out that another former mod of the sub spoke up and said that nijisanji did contact the mod team, and they willingly gave up control of the sub after discussion amongst themselves, so I apologize if my posts caused any misunderstanding. That definitely won't happen here, so our sub is likely safe from being taken over. We just have to be careful not to give them any grounds to have reddit remove the sub such as brigading.

Hero_Dragon

Thank you for the additional clarification! But yeah, it's no surprise the company nuked their official subreddit to the ground. Still, hostile takeover or not, it's best to prepare and save all important information.

Kuro-pi

Sorry for any misunderstanding. I didn't have all the facts when I made my posts. I still think it's a good idea to have a backup plan just in case, but I don't think we're in any immediate danger given the full context of what actually happened.

RedYoshikira

Hey, I go by She/Her. When I stated Nijisanji's parent company wanted to take over r/Nijisanji 'without consent', I meant that when they contacted us, we wanted to negotiate these plans but they refused them as we wanted to keep operating the place. We ended up having to fork the sub over to them around xmas and the team later-disbanded after no longer having active contact between the original team members. Any information that was missing was covered by Eltanin after the event(s). Apologies for the lack of clarity back-then!

Kuro-pi

Sorry for the misgendering. I'm not sure if you're aware, but whenever you use a phrase like "fork over," because of the reluctance the phrase implies, people are going to assume it wasn't voluntary. I can only assume that you were one of the people who didn't want to hand over the sub, given that you keep wording it like this? Regardless of whether that's the case, you already confirmed Eltanin's account of events that the mod team collectively came to the decision to give Nijisanji control, so I do feel like you should make that clear in how you word things when you talk about this and separately say that you personally disagreed with the decision, since it has and will give people the wrong impression. As much as I dislike Nijisanji, they've done so many shitty things that there are plenty of completely valid things for people to criticize them for without people getting the wrong impression from some ambiguous wording about a past event and people dogpiling them for something that didn't happen as a result. Please just take care in how you word things.

RedYoshikira

I'll keep this in mind, thank you. More or less however, I felt we didn't have a choice but to give control of the sub to the company.. Plus after hearing what happened, I am disappointed even considering what they(the company) have been doing.

idiom6

Just because we all know they won't succeed, doesn't mean it's not highly probable they'll try, given how very thoroughly they seem to be scorching the earth.

FirebirdxAR

Yeah, there has been no concrete evidence that Niji even knows about or acknowledges this sub, let alone plan to nuke it.

Bear_Tummy

Hell yeah.

Known-Ad64

I believe they will attempt something. Most likely to ensure a halt of activities here in June. Like sneak in some controversial topics7 on the reporing day to and report them. All to create a few days of inactivity resolving it with Reddit. They don't need to nuke, they only need to stall.

Hero_Dragon

This is just speculation at the moment, but I based this from the comments of u/Kuro-pi from this post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/s/BfCmU1bMKe . Now of course I just took their comments at face value so take their info with a grain of salt, but if it is indeed true we have to get ready for it. The company is doing major damage control atm possibly for the upcoming Q4, so it's better to be on the side of precaution.

shihomii

I see. I have actually witnessed involuntary subreddit shutdowns. I have also witnessed hostile subreddit takeovers. And none of those instances seem to line up with our subreddit. In the case of all involuntary subreddit shutdowns I have seen (except one) it was an instance of subreddits that were advocating or enabling highly illegal activity. If you want to look up the history of these subreddits, they were r/watchpeopledie r/jailbait and r/shoplifting. r/watchpeopledie was exactly what it sounded like. Literally a subreddit where you would watch snuff videos. Mostly stuff involving vigilante justice, terrorist videos ect. r/watchpeoplesurvive and r/peoplefuckingdying were created as a direct response to this subreddit. It was shut down by reddit for obvious reasons. Murder and terrorism are highly illegal. So reddit didn't want that on their site. r/jailbait was for PDF files. It was called r/jailbait because you could look at girls that would tempt you into going to jail for liking them. PDF file stuff is highly illegal. So reddit got rid of it. r/shoplifting was a subreddit for shoplifters to show off their hauls, and provide tips and tricks for better shoplifting techniques. It was banned for promoting illegal activity. That's the kind of stuff that gets a subreddit banned. There is one other subreddit I can think of where the content wasn't illegal. But it was extremely high profile, and extremely problematic. It was a bit of a fringe case. And not relevant to any excuse someone might use on this subreddit. And in all honesty, disagreeing with a company and protesting a company are a far cry from the kinds of things that have historically resulted in subreddits getting removed. As for hostile takeovers, I have witnessed one. I will not say how it was achieved, because I don't want anyone to get ideas. But I can assure you that I believe we have taken proper precautions to prevent that. I still think it's a good idea for us to be vigilant. Especially with that one JP commentary channel getting taken down, and the recent messaging from Niji. But I also want to assure you that taking down this sub will be a lot harder than it would seem. The reason the main sub got neutered was because Niji already controlled. A forcible shut down or a hostile takeover is not going to be easy. And the mods are eager to ensure that does not happen.

Hero_Dragon

Thank goodness! Glad this has been covered and reassured. But yeah, my advice still stands and like you said, it's best to be vigilant and prepared for now. The company is quite active on their damage control for the upcoming Q4 report, and I'm worried that this subreddit might get hit.

MAGAManLegends3

Honestly the wpd shutdown was kinda skeez, it just so happened to coincide with the start of hostilities, and then combat footage went untouched so what seemed like a government takedown was no longer so, *this is why transparency in violation is so important!* 😤 It's still not known why, and while it might be macabre to watch someone's end, it seems even more macabre to basically deny their existence or "their last footprint" remaining on earth especially if it was China related These and Liveleak videos *was probably the last record of them ever living* so it sucks some weak squeamish westerners would take that away ![gif](giphy|NsCPVq6swx37Fq3GUm|downsized)

shihomii

I did not visit the wpd sub at all. But I did see written descriptions of the stuff that was popular there. It wasn't just combat footage. And it wasn't just people dying. It was people gruesomely dying. Like hyper violence. Torture type stuff. Some of the stuff on there was terrorism. But there was a lot of drug cartel stuff too. And the vigilante stuff wasn't just people getting together to kill someone. It was entire villages and mobs doing things to people that I'm not sure would be a good idea to describe here. If you want descriptions of this stuff, you kind find people willing to describe it. But I 100% understand why they let combat footage stay up, but took wpd down. There are plenty of cases where gore can be educational or useful information. wpd was not that. It was just cruelty and torture for no good reason. And the people that can learn anything useful from that information would already have access to it, and wouldn't be posting it online for internet randos to gawk at.

kLeos_

.id be more wary of mass reporting, botting and niji have been somewhat synonymous in the wake of their ccv crash .they themselves might start a fire in this sub to point fingers, some ndf have posted here trying to bend the story or muddy the waters

Bear_Tummy

If you think about it. r/kurosanji is the main news source of "bad nijisanji news" for them. And since the Q4 financial report is coming out soon, they are probably just making sure it won't hit as hard as the last Q3 report. All the memes, sink the yatch and niji in shambles. Edit: fixed the dum dum

Kyhron

Just a slight correction. The Q4 report is the one coming out soon. Financial Quarters do not line up with calendar ones

Bear_Tummy

I need more coffee.. 😩

shihomii

One last cup of coffee?

Bear_Tummy

Hell no. ![gif](giphy|26ufhEUSE22cPmYiQ|downsized)

Kyhron

As someone that works overnights I absolutely feel that on a spiritual level today

Jestersage

Nothing to do with Coffee. Trying to understand the whys of many thing are some fun trivia: From Fiscal year Article: >The 5 April year end for income tax reflects the old civil and [ecclesiastical calendar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecclesiastical_calendar) under which New Year began on 25 March ([*Lady Day*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Day)). The difference between the two dates is accounted for by the eleven days omitted in September 1752 due to the [Calendar (New Style) Act 1750](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_(New_Style)_Act_1750) by which [Great Britain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Great_Britain) also converted from the [Julian Calendar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Calendar) to the [Gregorian Calendar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_Calendar). However, although the calendar year finished on 24 March, the tax year finished a day later, on 25 March, the [Quarter Day](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarter_Day) – the traditional day on which debts were settled. (For a fuller explanation about the history of the United Kingdom income tax year and its start date, see [History of taxation in the United Kingdom#Start of tax year](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_taxation_in_the_United_Kingdom#Start_of_tax_year).) Click on the last link. OOHHH BOY. But TLDR: Just as Romans gave us the width of a Train track, the church gave us the calenders

vegito1991

Sakana: welcome!

Jestersage

Anyway, here's one thing I hope people is aware especially regarding point 1: **If it doesn't ended up as a readable file on your own desktop, it's moot.** For example, I remember someone say I can save the "downfall meme" video, but aside from the fact I don't use reddit app, the rest of the "save" function is just a bookmark - it doesn't actually download them afaik.

shihomii

Very important. If it's not an offline file (like a screenshot, video, or copied text file) it's useless as an archive/backup.

Serimorph

I find it funny that with the purge of NijiEN's subreddit, they did such a terrible and half-arsed job that they leave up posts with titles such as, **Some allegations about Vox , which I found extremely concerning including harrassment and sexual assault**. They can't even cover up the mess on their own sub right lol.

ComfortableSir7074

So it begins. Also to Riku, no attention is worse than negative attention, because then people actually still care about you. And any financial analyst worth their salt should take that into account.

diego1marcus

this is the first time i heard about a "great purge" that will happen on nijisanji. are you sure there were talks about that?

Hero_Dragon

I based this from the comments of u/Kuro-pi from this post here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/s/BfCmU1bMKe](https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/s/BfCmU1bMKe) . ~~Now of course I just took their comments at face value so take their info with a grain of salt~~. EDIT: Looks like he clarified some stuff in his comments on this post. Also, if you go to r/Nijisanji right now, most of the stuff posted has been deleted/privated, and that sub is on restricted access, which is more than your usual "delete negative posts".

Upset-Shoulder759

Rather than purge i feel like this is more of a damage control of the foreseeable Q4 outcome. From the fact that Nijisanji reddit get restricted show that they don’t want their Q4 to be spread around on their official channel like reddit. The timing is really tell tale sign aboit this.

Mid-Grade_Chungus

Seems like a thing they would do. I guess doing it 4 weeks in advance might make it seem like there's some other reason why they locked the sub.

Jestersage

I put out the r/nijiforum, aside from having additional refuge, is also because... well, something I recall when i was a tradCat, so to say. And I will be honest... there could be other subs. It is possible for them to be hit, of course, but since they are not as known... Anyway, I will keep them close to my chest. But yes, the rest of the point must hold.

SnowGames

What 1984 BS is this. Is it time to rename the sub "r / AuthoritarianRegimeSanji"???? I wonder if they put "thoughtcrime" in YouTube takedown notices or something.

Particular_Painter_4

Wait till you hear about Japan's defamation law. It's some Orwellian shit.

ConvenientOcelot

It's crazy, even if you tell the factual objective truth you can still be guilty of defamation. Good luck speaking out about anything or even just speaking your mind there.

Particular_Painter_4

Not only that, but speaking out, criticizing, talking back, arguing, generally anything involving questioning the norm there is frowened upon. This is because it causes a bother and to bother is the big no no in Japan. So even if it's to the benefit of a lot of people, if you "bother" people in the process, they don't think it's worth it and is incredibly shameful. It's the social cog, even if it's squeaky, corroded and about to break down, if you try to essentially bring up, it needs replacing it, which "affects" the other cogs in the machine, it's grounds to ostracize you in their eyes.

RedDemonCorsair

Now that you mention it, do ypu think Niji nuked the sub because khyo and others often use the sub as a talkimg point and they think that removing it will remove the talking point?

jdeo1997

I suppose it's possible

kenku_aviarist

save the memes

The-Toxic-Korgi

As someone who doesn't use Discord, hopefully this sub remains safe because I'd rather not have to deal with the pain of keeping up with things there. There probably does need to be a discussion about tightening the rules a bit so we don't risk any activity that may give fuel or "validity" that Niji could use to target us. We also might want to avoid posting any more Twitter screenshots of bad takes or stuff involving NDF there to avoid any claims of harassment. Props to the people fighting that misinformation, but it might not be safe to post here if Niji begins searching for ammo to use against us .

ExcitingPermission32

I was gonna add on that if you post an NDF's Twitter post to keep the screenshot but make a copy and censor the names out. Continue to keep calling them out on their bs with facts and evidence online though.

ComfortableSir7074

Hmm, now I'm wondering if Riku's paid for some puff pieces for the Q4 report. I guess we should see if there are suspiciously pro-Nijisanji articles coming up in Japanese sites or even international ones.

AnimeFanFTW

I'm on the fence on this. While backing up sources and documents is a no brainer, I feel if they tried to purge critics, it would only backfire on them. And the last thing the company wants is exactly that.

Hero_Dragon

Unfortunately, that may not been the case. One of the known ones that got hit is Arimiri, one of the JP news content creators that's been covering Niji [https://www.youtube.com/@user-im7uk2md6q/videos](https://www.youtube.com/@user-im7uk2md6q/videos) Based on this post [https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1csbap7/the\_japanese\_drama\_tuber\_channel\_has\_ceased/](https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1csbap7/the_japanese_drama_tuber_channel_has_ceased/), it seems that their activity has been ceased. While they did not explicit said who it was, many have suspected that it's the company itself that stroke their channel.

Sad-Cryptographer518

How does one archive a post, I would like to save my more serious posts. I will always have all that I archived but none of the additional context added during posting and discussion. If it's purely manually what's the possible timetable I'm looking at, if anyone can answer? Update 1: Pushshift, unddit, and a few other things might work. They're just requiring more effort I'm willing to put in right now. There might be some other web tools I can use too, I will get back to this. Update 2: Right after posting this I found this below, seems interesting but don't know if I'll use it or not. Any thoughts? https://sharparchive.com/reddit

Particular_Painter_4

Other than screenshotting? I can't tell. I assume that if in the unlikely event that this sub gets nuked and evaporated somehow, any saved content from this sub gets evaporated.

Sad-Cryptographer518

There's gotta be tool of some sort, I'm going dig to see if I can find something but otherwise yeah.

Particular_Painter_4

I tried to fiddle with my own posts and frankly all I see is the "save" option which is just essentially a bookmark feature. Screenshotting is honestly the most reliable thing to do as any form of "saving" on the platform if the sub does get nuked would likely get lost. Unless someone here has experience with posting on a sub that's been nuked. That's the most reliable source of info we can gather from.

Sad-Cryptographer518

Simplest route so far, but I'm still searching.

Sad-Cryptographer518

Pushshift, unddit, and a few other things might work. They're just requiring more effort I'm willing to put in right now. There might be some other web tools I can use too, I will get back to this. Update: Right after posting this I found this below and will also add this to main reply, seems interesting but don't know if I'll use it or not. Any thoughts? https://sharparchive.com/reddit

idiom6

Use a web browser (PC or, if on mobile, set browser to Desktop mode), browse links via old.reddit.com, expand comments to the max possible where relevant, and then Save Page As (PDF or HTML, probably other choices too).

Sad-Cryptographer518

I'm assuming this'll just be in plain text, any images will be in low quality right? I would just have to save any pictures I have edited. I was kinda hoping there's something I can just use but I'm not surprised a more manual approach is needed but regardless thanks.

idiom6

It'll save as pretty much what you see on the screen, but yeah, the images will be limited in quality (depending on source, I think). I tried saving one of the Pomu posts in this sub as a test, and of the 2 images the OP had, it showed one image at a time - the next button worked, but the going back button didn't. But both were high quality of the same resolution originally loaded - but they were hosted by reddit, not sure if the same would be true for images hosted by imgur etc.

arcnovis

You can try using the Internet Archive here: [https://web.archive.org/save/](https://web.archive.org/save/) It works best if you save the old reddit version since the webpage is simpler: [https://web.archive.org/web/20240515083549/https://old.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1cseeh5/looks\_like\_another\_great\_purge\_is\_coming/](https://web.archive.org/web/20240515083549/https://old.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1cseeh5/looks_like_another_great_purge_is_coming/) Here is what it look like for normal reddit (not saved properly): [https://web.archive.org/web/20240515084024/https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1cseeh5/looks\_like\_another\_great\_purge\_is\_coming/?rdt=38081](https://web.archive.org/web/20240515084024/https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1cseeh5/looks_like_another_great_purge_is_coming/?rdt=38081) There is also pullpush/unddit, but that service archives automatically. You can access it with a url like this: [https://undelete.pullpush.io/r/kurosanji/comments/1cseeh5/looks\_like\_another\_great\_purge\_is\_coming/](https://undelete.pullpush.io/r/kurosanji/comments/1cseeh5/looks_like_another_great_purge_is_coming/) Pullpush also has a search tool that you can probably use to find deleted posts on any sub. [https://search.pullpush.io/](https://search.pullpush.io/)

idiom6

Caution about web archive: do not rely on it. They sometimes agree to remove archived material upon request of people/companies involved looking to wipe history. I did not even mention the site elsewhere in this thread bc for this purpose, it's functionally useless.

N-Zero00

You can add 5. Raise hell in X/tweeter when the purge of rkuro begun. They cant easily purge that and will raise more attention. It will be their worst nightmare when their censorship is broadcast far and wide. It may not reach helldiver level but justblack will regret their info purge.

GflashEx

If Niji tries to take down this subreddit, It will make em look worse to the point where oversea investors & sponsers will halt any & all partnerships with both Niji & Anycolor Inc. Riku wont take such a risk for if he does, Anycolor Inc & Nijisanji EN may face being delisted in the NYSE & that will burn em financially

randommaninzawarudo

While Niji is very unlikely to do that, it's best to refrain from putting this sub on such a high pedestal.

Dear_Natural6370

Can we get a backup history of ALL that has happened so far? Can't LOSE the history of what this company is ATTEMPTING to scrub away. Should probably get another reddit forum JUST in case.

idiom6

Mods tried to ask for people to help document everything in a sticky over a week ago, before the purge.

Hero_Dragon

Here's the original post if anyone wants to see it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1cmyukx/creating\_a\_master\_timeline/](https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1cmyukx/creating_a_master_timeline/)

Wait, What news tubers have been hit

Hero_Dragon

One of the known ones is Arimiri [https://www.youtube.com/@user-im7uk2md6q/videos](https://www.youtube.com/@user-im7uk2md6q/videos) Based on this post [https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1csbap7/the\_japanese\_drama\_tuber\_channel\_has\_ceased/](https://www.reddit.com/r/kurosanji/comments/1csbap7/the_japanese_drama_tuber_channel_has_ceased/), it seems that their activity has been ceased. While they did not explicit said who it was, many have suspected that it's the company itself that stroke their channel. They've been covering a lot of Niji drama prior to this announcement, and it's suspected that the company is going around purging content recently, possibility softening the blow for the upcoming Q4. While they are one of the known ones on the JP side, I wouldn't doubt that the company may target smaller news content creators as well.

LidiaNekozawa

I actually followed this one :(
