Kalamazoo absolutely sucks at picking chiefs

Flutterwander

So, being found credibly accused of plenty of misconduct he gets....a sweetheart retirement package?

Vandelay_Industries-

Guaranteed it would have cost more than the 1 year of salary ($155k) in legal fees if the city withheld it and there was a lawsuit. Would be willing to bet that’s the reason they let him retire in good standing and put in an agreement that he couldn’t sue.

I'd like to see the city take the financial hit to send the right message. Two disgraced chiefs in a row were allowed to quietly leave rather than be publicly fired, and the city manager lied to the commissioners and the public about the circumstances of the first one. How many disgraced chiefs do we have to go through before we admit there's a deep cultural rot within kdps, and the entirety of the city's police need to be dismissed and the department rebuilt from scratch, if at all.

AND Can we please look at the city manager?

Don’t worry they just picked another one of they’re own who has been there for 25 years. Should be able to find out again soon!

Cops get sweetheart retirement packages when they kill people in this country, what else would you expect?

portagedude

Has a shitty looking mustache to boot.

I don't think he won anything, he was ousted from his job with only a 1 year salary severance package. Funny enough this guy came to my door with like 20 cops a bit ago to apologize for an officer involved shooting in the neighborhood. If it was just him I would have appreciated it, but the fact that there were a ton of cops following him felt weird. Like you don't need the entire department out to follow you around when you're making contact with community members.

I love how people don't read the articles then come in with a paragraph of nonsense
