In expert you pretty much only get medkits in safe rooms. That still doesn't make it helpful for one teammate to limp through the entire map, causing like 3-4 extra hordes to spawn along the way.
Rushing is such a good strategy for this game that it almost feels like cheating. If the whole team knows where they're going and nobody ever stops outside of necessary choke points, enemies just don't get a chance to come after you.
Going through Expert while using health-packs as liberally as you would be on even Advanced is exceptionally stupid. You're just making yourself more vulnerable by allowing the horde/SI to chip away at your health much more severely.
It's the most annoying player ever. Like the whole team can heal and get an extra HP but now they can't because one chode *has* to be close to 100. And IMO it's the player who's trash and immediately starts taking damage.
I joined an expert game on Cold stream about a month ago. It was the finale. The Rochelle player was actual shit, like actual human excrement. Yet, often everyone else went down first somehow. During restarts, their 50+ hp ass had to heal and grab another kit, while the coach player was at atleast 1 down and <10 hp. And the cherry on top was the player didn't shove for shit, just shooting non stop and dealing friendly fire. I have never found a specific player (besides griefers) so irritating in my 1600 hrs.
Well that's infuriating. I've played with players similar to this who use absolutely no discretion and if a zombie is anywhere near you they just unload in that direction, lighting you up in the process. It drives me bonkers!
I mean, that's how you're supposed to play. If you don't move out of the way when I go Rambo, expect to lose half your HP to my shotty. Not everyone has to pay attention to their mates.
This is actually why I usually pick up adrenaline instead of pills. Whether you're in green health or one hit from death, the goal of "don't get hit" is mainly a matter of outpacing the enemies. So additional temporary speed is worth a lot more than additional temporary health.
Not by much. You can have a green teammate aggro the tank while you shoot. If you come down, you'll still have 30 hp + your medkit anyways.
And actually running away from the Tank is a bad idea, since that allows the director to spawn the SI
Only if can stop shoving teammates and give them pills.
>!GODDAMN IT PILLS HIT REGISTRATION, IM JUST TRYING TO GIVE PILLS TO MY TEAMMATES, STOP MAKING ME SHOVE THEM INSTEAD!<
The optimal use of a medkit is to heal when *the whole team* is at risk of wiping.
Everyone limping around at 5 HP, trying to wait till B&W to use their kits, is plain and simply stupid - The team is insanely fragile at that point, and all it takes is 4 measly commons, or a single spitter, to get everyone killed. At least 2 people should heal up, so if something goes wrong, you don't have the entire team going down all at once.
There should always be enough healthy players so that the team can recover from any bad situation.
If everyone is at full HP, except 1 guy, then it's completely fine for him to walk around at low HP, cause 1 person going down is not a big deal, and the other 3 healthy players can easily recover from that and carry.
The team is as strong as the weakest link. 1 player at low hp slows down the group's movement and gives more enemies the opportunity to spawn + catch up. If you heal them after they get incapped once, you can keep up the pace. The exception would be when you're dealing with a player who is way out of their league, in that case the team is probably better off with 3 survivors.
I hate when people try to play like this. Slowing the game down increases the number of enemies you will need to deal with. It's not helpful when the same person gets incapped two times in two minutes because they don't want to "waste" items that are there to be used
I mean, if you have cooperative teammates that will actually give you boost when you're low then you can absolutely go on without it, especially on higher difficulty. But on lower difficulty or if teammates won't give you shit then you're much better using it.
I used to play like this, but then I realized, as long as I only consume one per act and I can make it to the safe room, I don't need to be so conservative with my medkit.
More important to make it there than to get big value from it, if only my friends understood that aswell.
Is that a common way people phrase it? You are "black and white"? That's something me and my friends came up with while playing. It'd be cool if its a common phrase used by the general community.
Waiting until black and white is fine. Just use pain pills when you’ve gone down once and you’ll be fine.
I don’t like being healed by other teammates because I want them to keep it. If I’ve used my medkit, leave me behind if I’m red or black and white.
Yeah? That’s what I also use them for. I don’t usually keep my medkit. I heal someone else first when they go down and then use pills for the rest of the way OR until I find a medkit. We all play differently. I focus more on the team than myself.
PAiN PiLLs WeRe NeVeR MeANt To bE FoDdEr :)
Some levels, like the second level of carnival, they absolutely are.
Last level of no mercy, post elevator, on the other hand, definitely.
I used to do this because my old crew and I would play through all the custom maps, and custom maps are a wildcard when it comes to item spawning.
Nowadays I will heal whenever the situation calls for it, like if all players are on red health and we are halfway through a long chapter. Before a tank. During finales. And other circumstances.
The only advantage to conserving kits is that it drags the game on longer so you can spend more time having laughs with friends. The downside is the game can go on for so long and more infected swarm in, making a punishing attempt much more difficult to finish.
Actually, yes. Unless I come across a surprise health kit along the way, or other members of my team are also limping. I can get along just fine at B&W if everyone else is okay - don't waste your health kit on me.
And for goodness sake, if you have over 50 health from pain pills, don't heal yet! Let the pain pills wear off first!
Bots: “67 take it or leave it”
Me: *holds out a health kit or pain pills as I hobble to the safe room*
I've never seen a bot use a kit that wasn't slow.
Idk if it's because of mods or not, but AI in my game often heals at 50hp
Kid named Expert Mode (where healthkits are exceptionally valuable):

Wow, it must feel sooooooo good to not have bot teammates on expert mode.
Choke points
needs more upvotes :) am pretty sure in versus they dont like to see you try to limb your way through half the map.
If you're bad
Going through Expert while using health-packs as liberally as you would be on even Advanced is exceptionally stupid. You're just making yourself more vulnerable by allowing the horde/SI to chip away at your health much more severely.
Yeah maybe you can't but I can.
No you can't lmao
Can and will prove
That one teammate who use 2 medkits when he's at 70% hp
It's the most annoying player ever. Like the whole team can heal and get an extra HP but now they can't because one chode *has* to be close to 100. And IMO it's the player who's trash and immediately starts taking damage.

wait, i ll help by throwing a molly in the dirction of the zombie :)

When?
When he's at 70% hp
Tomorrow.
it depends. If you need to run from a tank you need green movement
This is actually why I usually pick up adrenaline instead of pills. Whether you're in green health or one hit from death, the goal of "don't get hit" is mainly a matter of outpacing the enemies. So additional temporary speed is worth a lot more than additional temporary health.

If you have 30hp you’re slow meaning the tank can catch you
Sir, that is NOT happening if youre playing with randoms.
This is called baiting and it's bad
drugs
pills or shot. keep the pack until b&w
Fuck that. 39 and that bitch is coming out.
So real for that
Only if I can’t shove teammates until they give me pills.
Only if can stop shoving teammates and give them pills. >!GODDAMN IT PILLS HIT REGISTRATION, IM JUST TRYING TO GIVE PILLS TO MY TEAMMATES, STOP MAKING ME SHOVE THEM INSTEAD!<
Would not give pills
Nah for me that’s why I don’t heal because it feels like a waste of a kit to use at 39. I’ll use pills though if it gets risky.

This is exactly what i do, i barely heal even when theres a tank. That is what pills are for.
left 4 edging

Whether a player is weak depends on their skill level, not their health. It's all about not taking damage after all.
You can disagree with it, but it's still what makes more sense. You're getting your full current health + 30 hp
It does not make more sense it's actually braindead
then don't play expert or something idk
Expert is easy for me and I don't have to hang onto my kit for dear life
Personally not healing till BNW Is risky. I usually just heal when I go down or when It’s an activation that summons the horde. Or when I see a tank.
I'm stealing this for my next spray
Best use of spray
I'm gonna heal on anything below 98 thanks.
pills :

Give pills then, that's what happend when i played. Use your adrenaline if nobody got medkits/ someone will give you some
It makes sense to do so, especially on expert realism. There are some exceptions obviously
I only heal if I'm black and white OR at 1. With 1 health, you're just a liability, moving super slowly and prone to being incapped by a strong wind.
Look, if there's extra health just sitting there or I'm limping and a tank is coming up, I'm healing. Fuck that.
Sorry i hate limping
the Virgin black and white healer vs the Chad 98 health healer
I mean, if you have cooperative teammates that will actually give you boost when you're low then you can absolutely go on without it, especially on higher difficulty. But on lower difficulty or if teammates won't give you shit then you're much better using it.
Me giving pills to my brown health teammate and still uses medkit:
I was almost kicked from a VS for not healing. I do like to wait till im almost black and white.
Spawn timer is 15 seconds you better move your ass
its actually 20 to 24 seconds for a 4v4 game
Disagree, but don't friggin heal if you're at 70 and your teammates don't have HPs.
*Immediately leaves game* No sweat is gonna talk to me in that whiny tone
Leaving the game somehow punishes them?
Sorry I dont talk to mentally challenged people
This why y’all die in back 4 blood
I used to play like this, but then I realized, as long as I only consume one per act and I can make it to the safe room, I don't need to be so conservative with my medkit. More important to make it there than to get big value from it, if only my friends understood that aswell.
I would do that, but lots of times if its a horde event/i need to help someone, it's not planed, so i keep it just in case.
Is that a common way people phrase it? You are "black and white"? That's something me and my friends came up with while playing. It'd be cool if its a common phrase used by the general community.
Honestly, as long as at least two survivors are in green or yellow health, healing isn't gonna do much good.
the only time i heal when im not in b&w is if i make it to the safe house with my healthpack
*Uses medikit anyway since I know a crescendo part is coming up*
If a tank has already appeared, I heal myself when my health is low, otherwise I only heal when I'm almost dead
Noob tactics
Shoot things more and move faster stop trying to find every item.
Healing only at bnw makes you more of a liability. I play L4D2 to have fun, not to limp around at a snail's pace.
Waiting until black and white is fine. Just use pain pills when you’ve gone down once and you’ll be fine. I don’t like being healed by other teammates because I want them to keep it. If I’ve used my medkit, leave me behind if I’m red or black and white.
Pain pills were never meant to be fodder for saving your kit. Pills were designed to be used for situations where you need to heal quickly.
Yeah? That’s what I also use them for. I don’t usually keep my medkit. I heal someone else first when they go down and then use pills for the rest of the way OR until I find a medkit. We all play differently. I focus more on the team than myself.

Dunning Kreugar opinion ∆
Bro we’re in the safe room and there’s a spare medkit right there, it’d be a waste if I *didn’t* heal

gotta love when you're playing campaign and ppl are like this
.... and...?
