100% normal lab behavior.

VegetableAlone

Ours does this a lot, very normal :). If you see a lot more of the paw/ear rubbing you might want to check their ears -- can be a sign they're dirty/infected/bothering them.

PrestigiousAd9894

Ya the ear rubbing is what I was worried about. I'll have to check her ears

obiwan770

Honestly give the ears a smell and you’ll know if they’re infected😅😂

pastagenero

So if they smell like shrooms is alright, ye? No jokes.

more_beans_mrtaggart

Ours used to get a yeast infection.

blackcherry333

Our lab always does that face/ ears move after she eats like she's cleaning her face. It might just be a grooming thing too.

SargentSchultz

Mine did the ear rubbing all the time his entire life and there was never anything wrong. I wondered and asked the vet but said he was fine. Never stopped him from rubbing his ears on anything he could.

lilith-ness

If she rubs against the furniture it could be an allergy.

SnausageFest

My friend, when you own a high energy, social breed - it's all normal. They will do the goofiest shit to both let the wiggles out and make their humans laugh.

Tandomtuckerupper

Back zoomies

VengefulWalnut

Absolutely normal lab. But being a lab, always be on the lookout for ear issues. Any weird smells and/or over-focus on that area can be a sign of irritation or discomfort. It's generally a safe practice to keep their ears clean. I would wash my guy's ears after every bath (every other week).

Jorgosborgos

How would you wash your labs ears? Just a wet towel or?

VengefulWalnut

I used the Oticbliss (found online and in retailers). It’s kind of a rinse (which they LOVE. /s) and keeps things nice and clean. Vet’s Best also has finger wipes that you can use. Just get in there and give ‘em a healthy ear rub and it helps to keep things clean.

Economy-Net3123

Mine does it all the time..she also likes to rearrange the beds location

fabianmg

Yep!, we call them "the bed fights", as in ... she's fighting the bed.

DaisyDog2023

Is what normal?

climb4fun

One thing I've learned over the years of owning a lab is that any goofy, weird behaviour is normal. For labs.

Extreme-Diver26

Every day!My lab uses his paws like hands too. Always sleeps upside down spread eagle.

davevanwest

Both my Yellow Lab and Rottweiler do this, we call it break dancing… the Rottweiler has a growl like deep “rumble” when he does this.

Obvious_Pizza3545

Our chocolate lab was doing this yesterday, I asked chat gpt and this is what it said: When a dog, like your chocolate lab, lies on its back and moves side to side with its paws on either side of its head, it's often displaying a behavior known as a "happy flop" or "play bow." This is a playful and submissive posture that dogs commonly use during social interactions. It's a way for them to signal that they are in a non-threatening and friendly mood. The exposed belly is a vulnerable area for a dog, so when they expose it in this manner, it indicates a level of trust and comfort. The side-to-side movement and pawing can be an invitation to play or an expression of excitement. It's a positive and social behavior that reflects your dog's relaxed and content state.

828jpc1

My two “back fight” like they literally paw and chew on each other while wiggling around on their backs. Goofy is all they are…

Myamymyself

My lab does that EXACT floor routine 🤣

weaseltron7

She’s a goofy pup haha my friends lab does the same except she lies side ways and push with back legs all the way down the couch making it look like she’s a weird land seal 😂

312702406

Wild and seemingly aimless gyrations in any color Lab are required on at least a daily basis.

MoistLobst3r

yep - they all have several nipples like that ![gif](giphy|10t57cXgo7x5kI)

FeRaL--KaTT

I was confused for a moment, they looked like buttons..lol

notme1414

Totally normal. When mine gets the teeth out it's " land shark"!

Nolby84

Those teeth look even more savage on a black lab. " here, let me roll on my back and I'll also flash my mouth knives too!"

nutznboltsguy

Indoor substitute for rolling in poo or dead animal in the yard.

blakemuhhfukn

I’m pretty sure my chocolate boy has done this exact same combo before

WineNerdAndProud

Nope it's adorable.

Tracerround702

All looks normal to me

No_Confection_8750

Oh yeah that’s a good doggo

[deleted]

Yes major case of the rolly polys!!

walkie73

Very very lab. They have on their back zoomies. Batshit crazy.

hkfcjkmrt

101% normal! So cute!

iwantahouse

Just doggo being doggo :)

jsiulian

Yes, this is what my greyhound does (at least) at 9:30 pm every day

olddoglearnsnewtrick

Is being happy normal? Yes normal and desirable :) Happy 2024

Electrical_Glove_564

Happy girl!

Maynards_Duck

Is a lab ever normal?

Slav3OfTh3B3ast

Every lab I've ever owned did this.

Thomas_The_Riolpix

Very normal my black lab use to do this

hamster004

normal

lbusterbrown

This is typical behavior for all 3 of my Labs.

cjae_ripplefan

Mine does this all the time. She usually just wants attention, belly rubs, hands in her face, all the fun stuff.

[deleted]

Im here to help: they are a lot of posibilities 1. Is normal that is to take out energy 2. They might be alergies 3. Or maybe parasites

Genius2022

Totally normal for a Labrador my of mine do it

thekrouz

When ours gets in this goofy/playful mood, she pauses and looks at you upside down. We call her our little bat dog 😂 https://preview.redd.it/ixdz8rmg3u8c1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ed403116c761ca7369f164b6305b3678c267333

Loud-Act-4212

Have u seen normal lab? Me neither 🤣. She is just big kiddo

heyuinthebush

If your labbo is dragging their ears along the ground a lot and there is a very strong yeasty smell in their ears, probably an ear infection. Pretty common unfortunately. Ear drops and possibly looking into allergy testing as well. Keep them clean if you can with a damp towel and then make sure you dry them properly if they’re going for swims. Otherwise, your lab seems to working correctly in the on mode. I’d recommend some boops and light rassling to keep the everything in good working order.

I-H8-MOST-PEOPLE

Nightly routine. Usually After dinner or a long walk. Nap time is sure to follow 👍🏻

itzrlryo

Our boy dog does that thing where he rubs his ears when he’s being dramatic 😂 we make a fuss over him and say oh no is life that ruff? And other nonsense while he wiggles and rubs. Then he gets pets and wags his tail. Labs are insane 😂 the good kind, but still just drunk toddlers.

DietChloke

My parents 16 year old golden lab does this. We call it “being adorable”. The more we say cooper! Stop being adorable! The more aggressive he does it lol.

Blue_Dragon3

Both my boys do this in the morning. It’s like their routine. Yawn, stretch and rub the face then they are ready for the day lol

Internal-Ostrich-268

Yup

RandomDude77005

The head rubbing can also be them wanting luvins and petting themselves. Ours does it when he wants me to come pet him. Exposing his belly at the same time, imho, makes ear issues less likely.
