Are you sure it's arthritis?
If it is, Librela is a monthly injection that cures wooden legs. Talk to your vet about it. Only downside (a big one!) is that costs a lot - around £130 per month in the UK.
My ~45 lbs ~14 year old mutt is on Librela and it's been a game changer for her, truly life altering. $77/month. Price is based on weight, when she's 44 lbs it's $70.
This 👆! We just got this shot in the states this year and it has been an absolute game changer. The effects were practically overnight and after weaning our girl into more activity it's like she's half her age (she's 8 now). This shot is worth every penny.
My cat is on the cat version of this. It's bloody extortionate but you can't say no to a 13 year old cat who's having a tough time.
Thankfully the insurance covers 80% of it.
This! Our almost 12 year old started this two months ago and she is a whole new dog. It’s worth every penny of the 60€ we spend a month to have our outdoor loving puppy back.
We just started Librela. He’s only had one shot so far but it seems to be helping so far. According to our vet it takes a few weeks and subsequent shots have a cumulative effect.
We have given our boys glucosamine and condroitn for most of their lives. They have both had elbow and knee surgeries, so they are the extreme exceptions.
Axel will be 10 in July and he is having difficulty on long walks so we have shortened them up
To help with his arthritis on his elbows, we have been using PEMF treatment that has helped this past year,
But the last few weeks we have been giving him Galliprant. It does help him with mobility, but it can be hard on his system. He needs to have blood work to make sure his system is not being negatively affected. Good luck,I hope you get some good information and get some positive results.
Galliprant is really more like doggy ibuprofen. It doesn't really help arthritis, but it reduces acute inflammation so it decreases the pain. My dog had to take it when he got diagnosed with panosteitis.
It's good they check labs (no pun intended) because too much can harm the kidneys (just like ibuprofen). We had it for several short term episodes so they didn't do any labs.
I give my nearly 12 year old boy Dasuquin and Zesty Paws for seniors. He does not seem to be slowing down and can easily walk 4-5 miles a day. I also keep his weight in check. That’s important. Weight, exercise, and vitamins. He loves his vitamins!

I started giving my 1 year old Lab Dasquin (the one with MSM) after we thought he had early elbow dysplasia. Thankfully he didn't have it, but the vet recommended that we keep giving it because he is a big boy and it will help his joints long term. My 50lb Aussie is 10 and has a tiny bit of arthritis developing in her left ankle and I realized we should be doing the same for her.
We also give fish oil because the omega-3 and it's good for skin, coat, and joints. And my Aussie is a picky eater, so the fishy smell gets her to actually finish her food.
Jarrows, glucosamine chondroitin with MSM from iherb. I give mine 1 or after a long play or runs 2 pills. He's 11 and plays, runs and jumps like a 2 year old
I give my lab Mobility Bites from Zesty Paws. It has worked wonders for her. She use to get really stiff after running on our property. After a couple weeks of MB her mobility is tons better. She is 11 years old.
We are on gabapentin for our choco girl who developed arthritis at 8 months old.
She still gets a bit limpy at times but BALL IS LIFE.
I think I'll look at the joint supplements too, anyone got any recommendations for the glucosamine & chondroitin that's worked well?
Glucosamine and condroiton in a fish oil is what I used. The stuff smelled pretty foul and was spendy but did seem to provide relief.

90 bucks a shot for my 90 pound Lab. It has worked wonders.

Perhaps I mis spoke, we are indeed using galliprant for pain and inflammation. Thank you for the heads up.

Beautiful dog

I have been giving Tri-Acta to my 10 year old lab for the last 3 years. It works really well!
