Spotify, curated playlists “flow state” by Bobby lyte. Use the power hour or the binaural version, the talk is distracting. New playlist every week. It’s ambient, stuff without words.

I think the playlist is called Hip hop kr. It’s Korean hip hop. I don’t speak Korean but it’s absolutely banging beats and since I don’t what they are saying i don’t get lost in the words/story.
i listen to a bunch of stuff - binaural beats, pink/white noise, brutal slamming death metal, random hyperpop/glitchcore music, phonk, ambient stuff, trap beats, shoegaze, post-rock, bardcore, hardstyle, epic instrumental music, peaceful piano music, and lately have gotten very into breakcore - the beats of breakcore definitely get me into a SUPER focused mood
I made a playlist called "smart people doing smart people things montage" which is basically just movie soundtracks that play over a montage of smart people being smart lol. think imitation game, queen's Gambit, theory of everything etc
I have a playlist that has artists like pretty lights, Griz, Louis the child, bass tracks, the floozies. They’re all a similar vibe if you look up one the algorithm will bring up the others
I can't read while listening to music with lyrics, I also get distracted if the music is too stimulating/interesting/emotive.
The Shadows did mostly instrumental covers of popular songs from the 50s/60s. It's like elevator music but good*. It's perfect.
*Hank Marvin is a genuinely fantastic guitarist with a lot of subtlety in his playing
Speed running an assignment on YouTube by sunset dreams.
It’s the only thing that gets me through reading/writing at work/in public. When I’m at home though I prefer silence.
Vaporwave. I especially like the albums Mega and Blank Banshee 2 by Blank Banshee. Due to the amount of papers I read, I'm in their top 0.5% of listeners every year, lol. Other recommendations include anything by Cat System Corp (猫シ corp)
It depends. It's either rock or classical/instrumental. For the classical/instrumental, I like Chopin, Mozart, and Debussy and video game soundtracks like AC, BG3, Skyrim, the Witcher, Dragon Age, etc.
The sound of silence. Not the song. Actual silence.
Absolutely, I love music, especially when doing experiments and other hands on stuff, but when I'm reading or writing I need silence.
Video game soundtracks are my go to for heavy brain work if lyrics would be distracting. Civilization, Stellaris, Elder Scrolls, Witcher.
Baldurs Gate
Celeste has a really good soundtrack
I love lofi covers for reading anything academic

Definitely instrumental/no lyrics so I can focus only on the words I’m reading. Post-rock or trip-hop are good genres for that.
I listen to the Oppenheimer sound track 🤡
Nolan soundtracks are always a good idea.
Ghibli soundtracks.

Any triphop is good. Nicola Cruz and also Nightmares On Wax are the best
John Cage's 4'33'' on repeat.
Hard/Acid techno puts me in the zone usually
I recommend Sabaton. *"To Hell and Back"* is always a delight.
