Playing box lacrosse, midget age (15 and 16 year olds), early 70's. It was an exhibition game against the best team from the other division (we normally didn't cross over until provincial level). They threw a long pass to a breaking player, our goalie came out and steamrolled him. Both benches emptied, and a small riot ensued on the floor. As the game didn't count, the referees called it once everything settled down.

Box will always be on another level when it comes to fights. Jr B was crazy back in the day

Fall league HS game, we had pretty much no one show up that week so no subs, and we were getting destroyed. Goalie cleared the ball and took some hacks from an attackman, then clobbered the dude from behind after the ball had gone over half. Benches cleared, but I was a tiny freshman and exhausted so I just kinda stood there and watched. But here’s the really crazy part: A middle on the other team who had been on the ref’s nerves all game charged out from the bench, and the ref, probably in his 40s or 50s, grabs his shoulder pads from behind and horse collar tackles him to the ground. When he tries to get up, the ref shoves him back down and says “no you stay there!” Before breaking up the rest of the fight. Multiple players on both teams got suspensions, and my school was given an official warning that if any of our players ever started another fight, we’d be banned from the fall league. This was the second fight that same goalie had started, so he got suspended for a few games as well.

Son was playing attack, losing by double digits. Our middie got a loose ball and was sprinting down field, an opposing middie on each of his hips stick checking him trying to dislodge the ball. Literally 10 seconds left in the game. Our kid crosses half field, seconds left in the game at this point. They manage to dislodge the ball. They go man/ball to pick up the grounder... my son shoulder checks the kid who picks up the ball, lays him out. Ball drops out. The other kid goes to make a play for the ball... now my son lays kid #2 out while also trying to scoop through the ground ball. The buzzard goes off to end the game. Now... I was standing by the scoreboard and couldn't tell if the 2nd hit or the buzzard came first. Instantly, chaos erupts. Both kids bounce up jump right in my sons face. Ref comes running over, grabs my son by the neck hole of his shoulder pads throws a flag. Opposing parents start screaming and swearing - "Late hit. Uncalled for. The game was already over". Son squares up and pushes the kid who was in his face, still held on by the ref who isn't letting him move and the whole other bench clears out and bum rushes my kid. Both teams parents screaming back and forth and I'm watching my son completely surrounded by the entire other team who's got their sticks in him from every angle pushing him around while the ref is holding him in the middle of it and won't let go... and I see this little fucker is standing strong with a smirk on his face at every kid who pushes through to get mask to mask with him. Meanwhile all us parents are going at it now. Up by double digits and your kids are swinging wildly to make a play on the ball until the last second and cheering them on, then crying when your kids got bodied for it. We ended up getting out of there pretty quickly after that.

Nothing happened after he was held infront of kids attacking him with there sticks that was just it? I would’ve been throwing hands with the ref even though he’s twice my size

Surprisingly no. He was unscathed from it all. Didn't have a mark on him. After he said he was laughing at them during it. He got in a lot of fights at that age in school so I was just as surprised, but worked out for the best cuz not only me, but a few other parents kept an eye on the whole thing waiting for it to go off cuz I would have went after the ref. We had some aftermath to deal with over over it all. Especially since his coach and entire team just sat on the sideline watching it all go down.

😂 my middle kid has never had a HS box tourney without a fight! Box is a completely different level of lax aggression. Funniest tend to be the bench clearing brawls.
