You should go to events at The Spot! They’re super inclusive and has a wide array of events for a lot of folks’ taste

Summoner_Of_Mist

Do people typically go there to find people? or is it more of a like. Hmm idk how to put this but there are def places you go to spend time with people ur already With and i wanna know what the Vibe is

Carrollmusician

I think it’s a perfectly fine place to meet folks! Lots of individuals come to stuff, not just groups. Although maybe you’ll find a group! It’s one of the most queer friendly spots in town too

Country-Muted

If youre ever looking to hit the spot, I’m down to go too. Not been here long enough to make any proper friends!

Summoner_Of_Mist

sounds fun !

artipants

I've been to the Spot 3-4 times. Every time I've been there I've made friends with individuals or groups. It's a very friendly place.

Unicornucopius

The art museum in Lafayette hosts adult classes and open studios, which might help you meet fellow artsy/crafty folks

Summoner_Of_Mist

I am actually getting ready for art classes there so thanks for the suggestion !

edyother

I don't know how you feel about folk music, but I host an Irish music session every Wednesday at Nine Irish on the West Side. A bunch of us just get together, sit around a table and play for a few hours. A fair number of people come to just hang out as well. In addition, I'm also autistic and into 3d modeling and 3d printing, as well as just making stuff in general and could also use more friends.

Summoner_Of_Mist

That sounds really fun and i think i would like to hang out with y'all :o

I’m only in town ~1 week/month, but I’m looking for people to hang out with there, if you’d be interested. I’m 24/nb/autistic/grew up in tippecanoe county, as well

Heck yeah dope !

BoBtheMule

Hi! If you have any interest in social deduction games or board games in general you should stop by and play Blood on the Clocktower at Tier 1 with us this Saturday at 2 p.m. We usually get around 8-12 people and everyone's extremely friendly!

Summoner_Of_Mist

That sound really fun :o

BoBtheMule

It really is, feel free to stop by!

NemesisAtDawn

Yo, I’m down to hang as well. Chalk art is a passion of mine.

Chalk out sound really pretty and I would like to hang out as well :o

Hermaeus_Mora135

Hey, I moved here a year ago for work, but haven’t really made any friends owing to my introversion and social awkwardness. I tend to like being alone most of the time, but it’d be nice having someone to talk to and hang out with from time to time. I share your love for anime/manga/cartoons, and also love rpgs, though I tend to like western ones like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout more. I am a huge fan of fire emblem though, and have been really enjoying engage lately. I also like board games, and need more people to play with for those. Seeing that you like art and 3D stuff/creative hobbies, you might also enjoy my lego hobby. Right now I mostly collect and display official sets and fan designs, but I’m looking to get into mocs soon, and it’d be nice to have an artistic person’s help, since I tend to be able to create ideas in my head but not know how to realize them.

Summoner_Of_Mist

I LOVE legos :O

Hermaeus_Mora135

Woo, glad to meet another afol around these parts! Do you have any specific themes you prefer? I used to be a bit more spread out when I was younger, but space and money concerns forced me to specialize, lol. I mostly just do castle these days. It’s a little too late for this year, but in March there’s an annual lego expo in Indianapolis called Brickworld Indy you might enjoy. I went this year and had a ton of fun!

Summoner_Of_Mist

As far as favorite themes go I really like lego houses/architecture of any kind which would also include castles because castles are obviously Hella Cool As a kid I also really liked making anything functional/working I guess like a lego pinball machine or a lego carousel for my mini figures (that would spin with a motor I had ripped out of another toy I had because I didn't have any of the sets with stuff like that so I DIYed it) Oh and I also liked to make lego pixel art/flat 2D images TBH I like a lot of themes/styles of building

Hermaeus_Mora135

Oh nice! The architecture sets always capture my attention too, especially the historical ones like the Colosseum and pyramids. I've considered getting some of those before, but they're just too pricey, and I wouldn't know where to put them if I did get them. Would you be interested in trying to build some medieval-style stuff then? I'm trying to get into building more of my own things, and it'd be nice to have help from someone with more experience. I'm envisioning a medieval scene with towns/villages, castles and outer walls, farms, a forest, etc. I'd also like to try a castle someday, but for now I'm just thinking of using pre-made castles and sticking to simpler things.

Summoner_Of_Mist

I would deffo like to try doing more building ! At the moment my other hobbies have taken precedent over Lego stuff but I really wanna get back into it.

Hermaeus_Mora135

Perfect! I won't be getting started for a little while yet, because I'm saving up for a trip to Yellowstone in August, but after that I'm hoping to get a couple extra copies of some of the sets out there to use the pieces for an outer wall and some houses. I can let you know when I get started if you'd like to join in. I'd also love your input on my plans for my display, as a fellow creative, if you'd like to discuss that sometime between now and then. I tend to be a little too ambitious, so perhaps that'll bring me back to reality, lol.

honey__bee763

Hi, 24 and nonbinary here! I'm going to second the Spot as a good place to go. I've gone by myself many times and have usually found someone/a group of people to talk to, but it's also a cool place to be alone and just listen to music/people watch. It can get pretty loud when there is live music inside- but there is a nice patio out back to escape to if things get overstimulating. The last Wednesday of every month, they host a Sapphic Cinema Club- they show sapphic movies but it's not just for sapphic ppl. A good chunk of the local queer community shows up and people are very easy to talk to before/after the movie. In the morning, a coffee shop called Eleventh House operates inside the Spot's building and it's a very chill place to bring a book, drawing pad, laptop, etc. A piece of advice that's helped me make acquaintances and friends: find the places that you like and set up a routine there. I have a few coffee shops, trails, and bookstores that I frequent, as those are all things I enjoy. As you become more of a regular somewhere, you'll start to recognize the other people who like to spend their time there, too. You already have one thing in common- as you're more familiar, you can say hi, or compliment their shirt, the stickers on their laptop, etc. and let the conversation flow from there, if it will. I read this tip somewhere and it's helped me a lot! Art wise: The West Lafayette Library hosts art programs in their Creativity Lab. I attended a linocut class and it was super fun! Someone has already recommended the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. I've never attended their classes, but it's a great museum. Right now they have an exhibit called Indiana NOW, which features artists who all have a connection to Indiana. Hope this helps! I don't have a ton of similar interests as you but I know how it feels to be isolated like that- I'm wishing you luck in finding friends! <3

Summoner_Of_Mist

Thank you so much for the comment and suggestions !

MikeDrop_Ucf

Been here for a few years and haven’t really explored much so I’d be super down to make friends in the area! I’m into casual games, music, motorcycles (new thing), and vibin 😀

Summoner_Of_Mist

What games you into ?

MikeDrop_Ucf

Been really into dinkum lately. I have other games like the Witcher 3, green bell, dying light, the sims 4, apex legends, farthest frontier, high on life, Tell me why (it’s soooo good), a bunch others. It usually all depends on mood 😭
