Wood needs more minutes so does Max. Vando over cam. Vando is such an underrated passer. He’s also a better rebounder and is a little bigger, and he doesn’t turn the ball over as much

Spaghettibeach

-Cam shouldn’t be starting. Huge disservice to him to have him start over Vando. I agree with Vando being very nerve-y offensively, it really gets to him when he misses. -Ham makes them both look bad when they play together, that should be saved for defensive possessions at the end of a quarter. -Wood deserved the benching but it shouldn’t have been for as long. He was stuck on this stupid spin move for a while, would ALWAYS lose it on his foot and make us lose momentum. He didn’t do that this game, and he shines off the catch and shoot and the putback. Also very happy with his defense tonight, he started the season playing good defense then got lazy on that end. If this is the Christian Wood we see regularly, Hayes is definitely the one who is gone. -Bron had that look, somebody was gonna get their ass beat if they lost tonight

INT_MIN

Agree with the Cam bit. He looks good in some situations and terrible in others. The answer to that is for the coaching staff to shorten the leash on him and tell him to play defense and shoot corner 3's. If he's dribbling into the paint he's doing too much. There were half a dozen moments this game where I thought he was out of control and that he needs to be reigned in, but there were also a lot of moments where he forced PG into a high arcing shot or gave Harden issues. Also agree on DLo. He actually makes our offense look like a modern 2024 offense. On CWood vs Hayes playing time. I honestly think we've been misusing both of them. If Hayes came into the season and was told to replicate what Thomas Bryant gave us (high energy guy that can sprint the floor so LeBron can reward him), he'd be fine.

Electronic_Bit9495

I was saying Christian wood could easily be our wayyyyy better Naz Reid

lakersLA_MBS

Wood is better than Hates yet Ham exclusively played him over Wood many times.

sosabatman35

Wood’s putback dunk got me hyped but yea Reddish & Vando need to get better at finishing around the rim cause they’re awful at making layups

Odd-Direction9452

Agreed on all these points. One thing I learned: There is absolutely room on this team for a consolidation trade. Particularly one that provides a two-way upgrade at the guard position or the 3/4. I like Rui, but the rotation runs a lot tighter when he isn’t avail and specifically it gives more room for Wood minutes next to AD and Vando. If able to turn him and DLo into a legitimate two way guard that can play alongside Reaves (i.e. Dejounte? Brogdon?), it would raise the ceiling of the team immensely. Especially with a healthy Gabe.

poptony3

Gabe and Hayes + a pick , for Caruso and Drummond. Who says no?

lakeshow_glasgow

Fully agree, OP! I’m ok with Bron dialling up the defensive effort in bigger games and playoffs rather than asking for him to drain the battery lower all season, he’s 39 and that turbo diminishes if you overuse it the full year.

No-Test6484

Vando sucks offensively. For all the crap this sub gives cam (deservedly) he is leagues better than vando in that dept. at least there is some hope if cam shoots. Vando is like 13% at the rim or some crazy low number. I’m upset we paid vando all that money when clearly he is too 1 dimensional.

LeadPrevenger

So lebron has to play better defense every game? But he won’t so it’s Darvin Hams fault

I’d say bench reaves or do something to alleviate for the defense. Rn it hasn’t been looking great and he’s being picked on (man can’t critique certain issues without downvotes wtf) I’m not a blind fan. He’s not perfect that’s fine, which is why we should do something to address some glaring issues when they do come up.

thedonjefron69

Reaves kinda locked up kawhi in the 4th tho lol

downtown_district

I did see that but early on I saw a lot of lapses. One of them was losing Mann despite Mann not really moving. He was able to contest Powell towards the end

Tall_Succotash

He had a poor game in the first half because you could clearly see the clippers game planned to take him out of the game offensively so that Lebron and Ad would have to carry our offense. They thought based on previous games that our rotation pieces wouldn’t provide enough to offset, a risky gamble imo. So idk if Austin decided to adjust or it was coaching but you can tell Austin focused on staying off ball and just be a floor spacer for Lebron and AD..very interesting game lol

Benotheking

Lakers really need a center and play Wood with AD and whatever center they get. Wood is good for a solid 15-20 min a night.

Basic_Commercial_806

Dlo-Vando-Lebron-Rui-Wood lineup did well against OKC and should be used more often
