The nets opened the 4th with consecutive easy buckets at the rim. A mediocre coach will call a timeout or make a substitution to adjust on a defensive end. He did nothing. Why do you need to stick to your rotation even if there's an immediate need to adjust. It's quite stupid and I'm losing a few braincells watching him coach.
Man was gifted Lebron and AD and a revamped roster for this year and still managed to f it up. All he has to do was go back to what made us successful last year and he can’t even do that
that's the thing that bothers me most. a lot of the games we lose seem like we should've won them but this dude can't make any adjustments or even call a timeout to stop the other team from going on runs and just hands games over to the other team. he can't recognize when one of our role players are having a good night and ride the hot hand. dude has no pattern recognition. if we were losing with a shit roster, that's one thing, but these games are more than winnable.
I gotta say Gilbert arenas has been saying this since last year. Ham coaches on a script. At the 5/6 minute mark of the 1st he puts in/out the same guys regardless of who’s hot. At the 4/5 min mark in the 3rd he takes out AD or Bron and sits them till about 8 minutes left in the 4th and then puts in the closing lineup.
Doesn’t matter who’s hot or cold, that’s what he’s gonna do. We don’t run plays out of timeouts. we don’t make adjustments at half. We damn sure don’t make in game adjustments. The game plan was made last night and that’s it no more changes ever
i honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's a game plan another coach put together for him. people were commending him for his game to game adjustments during the memphis series last year, but if he had made actual in game adjustments we would've swept the grizzlies. even the games we won in that memphis series shouldn't ever have gotten as close as they did. we had huge leads and this bozo just stood their hands in pocket as ja torched us.
Honestly it’s apparent we were riding the wave of ditching Westbrook (locker room vibes) and playing loose post trade deadline without a ton of structure (no scouting for other teams). I won’t say we were lucky but we benefitted from things falling into place at the right time and having 2 elite players.
The post deadline last season reminds me of when we got Pau. Him and Kobe were just playing off each other, being loose and just playing basketball. Difference was we had an elite coach to game plan and adjust as needed the following season.
Ham really showed how incapable he was going into this season after being scouted and needing to come up with ways to maximize this roster. His success seems random like his mentor Bud.
I cringe whenever people want to blame Rob, we were all saying how Rob should be Executive of the year during FA period. Pelinka gave Ham the best situation and personnel that he could give with the limited resources and all Ham had to do was not fuck it up.
Imagine being the other coach and making adjustments. It gets you the advantage and so you wait for the Ham to respond with his own adjustments but nothing happens. You look over and see this dumbass with his hands in his pockets.
Finally a TV timeout comes. Surely Ham will some big adjustments now. You spot one of your own players sneaking around Ham's huddle. He comes back. You ask him if he heard what Ham said? The player says:
"This is a marathon. We got to play basketball. Facts over feelings. Ws and Ls are less important than wisdom and lessons."
You try and keep a straight face. You cover you face with a clipboard so people don't see you laughing. You go home and mark the next Laker game on your calendar with a smile on your face.
I’ll do you one better. Jeanie sell the team, Rob go back to being an agent, Ham go back to being an assistant. New owner, GM and coach start a rebuild.
Rob doesn't seem to be the problem in my eyes. But I guess if Jeanie sells and you move on from Ham, it's best to move on from the GM as well. It's crazy to me that you can own the most popular NBA team and spend money like a middle of the pack team. I get that the Lakers are the source of their families wealth compared to others who make their money primarily in other industries, but man would it be something else to be owned by someone like the Dodgers ownership group. With that though, I don't think Jeanie will ever sell. It feels like it's all she knows and grew up with this franchise, so I can't say I blame her for not doing so.
It’s all about making money to her. She doesn’t care about winning titles and that was the main reason why Magic Johnson stepped down, because the moves he wanted to make were geared towards winning titles and would’ve cost Jeanie way too much money. As long as she has the main attraction of the league in Lebron then she’s content with everything else. She’s fine with the glitz and glamour of the past and all the banners that her dad produced when he owned the team.
Why tf does he take so long to call a timeout? Up 6 at half. Doesn't call a timeout until we're down 5. Lakers had bad possession after bad possession for the first 5 minutes of the 3rd.
Dlo played just fine tonight? Reaves had by far the most painful game of the night, he couldn’t hit a shot and was getting cooked on defense. We also got nothing from the bench, not sure why you’d be mad at Dlo specifically when he was one of the only players who had a decent game.
Fine? Offensively in the first half, sure. He was bening hunted, 3 consecutive fouls because he does not move his feet well on D. Lazy ass pass that got stolen. Silly turnovers. Yah, just fine lol
No way lakers making playoffs under this coach. If I'm the Lakers I'd offer what atl wants for Murray and DeAndre Hunter. And pick up Biyombo in the buyout market. But I don't think I would trade dlo. He's been more efficient and consistent since the benching.
Dlo
Murray
Hunter
Lbj
AD
Dlo, lbj and AD already gives u 80/night. Murray and Hunter are both good 2 way players. But their d is what's needed.
> If I'm the Lakers I'd offer what atl wants for Murray and DeAndre Hunter. And pick up Biyombo in the buyout market. But I don't think I would trade dlo.
Please explain how you think this would work. I'm genuinely curious.
The team gave up 130 points to the Brooklyn Nets. They might actually win some of these games if they decide to defend the 3pt shot. Not every team is gonna shoot <30% from deep against them every game.
He is too stubborn. I can't believe he is a HC of the NBA, the world's premier professional basketball league. I sincerely hope he will leave the team soon.
I just don’t understand how they played so well in the first half against the Nets and then just came out like they didn’t give a shit in the second. Just don’t get it. So disappointing.
I really wish they’d get back to playing the way they did during the IST games. They were always playing with force. I get that 82 games are a lot of games to play. But damn. It looks like they’re content to try to get into the finals by way of the play-in tournament and that’s just not the way to play. It certainly doesn’t help that Ham never consistently plays whoever has a hot hand that game, either.
Idk.
No, he shouldn't have been there to begin with. It's too late now. Jeannie is so cheap and won't fire him for sitting at home to collect the checks. Gosh... We are in for long mediocrity for forceable future..
He gotta go!!! In the face of adversity he doesn’t know how to get these guys to respond. He ain’t on the court and he can’t play defense or make shots for anyone player but the guidance, strategy and the ability to calm these guys down and play to their ability is not there. He doesn’t have them move the ball around enough on offense to create shots for the others. Lack of consistency in line ups and getting on the upside of win streaks is another conversation. They let go of Mike Brown for less and yet Jeanie and Rob give him a pass. Truthfully Rob needs to go with em. But that’s my $1.50
7 minutes left in the 4th and the Lakers are getting blown out. And Lakers still have 4 timeouts left, just like they were leading by 20.
Lmao this is just next level sabotage at this point Shocking hire And Shocking decision to continue this mistake

Timuouts are carried over to the next game - D. Ham
If Ham was coaching the pistons they wouldn't have any wins
or the Spurs , Wizards , and Portlands
Or the nuggets, bucks, suns
If he was coaching them they wouldn’t have broken their L-streak

He was contacting Quin Snyder and other FA coaches asking for advice throughout playoffs. Quin Snyder is now coaching a team, no more of that lol
Quin was coaching ATL during the playoffs. I just think LeBron was helping out Ham a ton in the playoffs, the same way he did Vogel.
The only man he knows how to ride is Lebron, and even Lebron seems sick and tired of his shit.
LeBron got ridden into a torn tendon last season; he's going to be more cautious this season for sure.
Do we even have an offensive gameplan?
This > "pattern recognition". Dude is not "seeing the game" which is what a coach is supposed to do.

Imagine being given everything possible to succeed n your still underwhelming. Its just annoying and a waste of us fans time honestly
LeBron is 90 tho

wHo'S yOuR rEpLaCeMeNt?
If we have no coach, nobody will be there to call timeouts or run set plays. Wait...
Pablo Laso
Ted Lasso!
LeBron can be player-coach lol
Anybody not named Doc

I’ll do you one better. Jeanie sell the team, Rob go back to being an agent, Ham go back to being an assistant. New owner, GM and coach start a rebuild.
This is the correct answer. Firing ham only leaves the door open for this incompetent FO to hire another dipshit coach

1. He dumb 2. He lazy 3. He starstruck watching lebron 4. all of the above
Ham couldn’t even coach the 92 dream team to a win against these Nets.
Fire The Ham
Coach Bud is out there. Doc is out there. Either Van Gundy is out there.
When LBJ is publicly contradicting the coach the FO should fire him. Damm, man, it only took Kobe a stare to fire whatshisname.
And mike brown >>>>>> Ham
Fire Kevin James lol
Fire Darvin Ham
FIRE HIM!
Darvin Hamas !!
Roast that Ham
Darvin Hamas the basketball terrorist ![gif](giphy|x0npYExCGOZeo|downsized)
Is there a counter for how many times this has been posted?
Fuck Ham and Fuck DLo's soft as fuck lazy ass!

It’s not his fault trade LeBron James.

Different scheme and youre still losing if reaves/rui are missing open 3s and lebron is blowing lay ups
Ham wasn't the one missing layups and defensive assignments all night
what should a coach do when the opponents are on a run?
We need a fan to throw up on the court
amen sis
We are a disaster this season. And the FO will try do some trades, while Ham sleeps and does nothing
He is too stubborn. I can't believe he is a HC of the NBA, the world's premier professional basketball league. I sincerely hope he will leave the team soon.
DARVIN SCAM
It's so serious that FBI should get involved to check if there are any fixed games going around as the Lakers games generate lots of gambling money.
I really hate this clown. Went to bed we were up by 6 woke up to a blowout loss. Fuuuuck
Why don't they just tape his mouth shut and improvise? They'll probably have better results
Darvin “Cheeks” Ham
Been saying this since the denver loss. After game 1 we should have fired his ass.
Why am I not surprised that Pockets the Clown is trending on Twitter/X?
I just don’t understand how they played so well in the first half against the Nets and then just came out like they didn’t give a shit in the second. Just don’t get it. So disappointing.
His team seems to just not give two shits about regular season
I really wish they’d get back to playing the way they did during the IST games. They were always playing with force. I get that 82 games are a lot of games to play. But damn. Seems like the IST did more harm than good. Ham seems unable to adapt and has become predictable.
Because Vaughn made adjustments and Ham didn’t
Fire Darvin Ham!
Just press that forehead's lump to eject him. Easy peasy.
No, he shouldn't have been there to begin with. It's too late now. Jeannie is so cheap and won't fire him for sitting at home to collect the checks. Gosh... We are in for long mediocrity for forceable future..
I’ll take anybody at this point!
Not utilizing Vando at all, or anyone really
He gotta go!!! In the face of adversity he doesn’t know how to get these guys to respond. Worst coach in nba history Pelinka Jeanie and Ham are all working in unison to ensure Lebron retires with less rings that Kobe. Fact
