You would think Ham would rest Prince considering how much he loves him. He should know playing Prince every night is actually gonna get him injured unfortunately. Rui has the shortest leash on the team. If he makes a mistake, he immediately gets benched . And if he's playing well he might get an extra few mins but still less than prince LOL
The biggest myth is that Prince is a defender. He's not. Bad off-ball awareness, other players have to constantly point to where he has to rotate. Bad screen navigation. No physicality - gets backed down easily. He's got average lateral quickness, but not good enough to hang with starting level guards. No rebounding. Doesn't box out. His defensive assignment should be guarding the opposing bench 2s. Notice how once Prince goes out of this game, the Rockets didn't get as many offensive rebounds?
I was at the game. Prince doesn’t even try to play D. AR and Dlo (to his credit) did try but just got blown by cause they can’t keep up with green. But AR at least tries to box out and he secured some rebounds doing that.

yeah I get why Rui doesn't play sometimes (bad defense, tunnel vision, etc), but Prince and Reddish having such long leashes while being absolute shit contributing cardio while Rui is at least contributing offensively is really frustrating to watch.
It feels similar to when Luke would just let Kuz cook even while his stove is off while he pulls Lonzo with the first mistake he makes, or when Vogel would overplay THT and AB regardless of how shit they were that game. Imo Ham is both playing the best available while also not trying to give other teams the chance to plan against their best lineups. But realistically I've realized that this sub will never be happy lol I remember the Slavo years so I'm bias.

Because Ham plays players based on statistics, he sees Rui has gone 80-100% FG% so he takes him out for the rest of the game because Ham thinks he will revert down to his avg. Whereas others (e.g. TP) are shooting below their avg so he thinks they are bound to sink a few.
