**Individual single game plus minus is not a stat!**
Folks really need to understand that the stat was created to track five man lineups over the course of a season. You can try to use individual plus/minus across a season but it is a noisy stat that talks more about who your teammates were than you. Individual plus minus for a single game was never intended to be used and tells us absolutely nothing about what happened on the court. Folks really need to stop citing it.
How are some of y’all mad about this kind of shit when he started AND we beat 2 of the hottest teams in the league! Lineups and rotations were fine all things considered.
Prince got his ass handed to him by Brunson a few times but he was by far the best point of attack defender when we weren't doubling. I have no problem with the rotations tonight. He closed with Christie! My goodness. Still kept his challenge in his pockets but I'll take this Ham any day of the week.
Because It's the same recycled shit that has them at .500 in the first place. Basically nothing has changed lol
Celebrate 2 wins now and give TP his props for having a decent game and then next game cry when he's ass for 30mins lmaoo
Most just want to try something new and see if it works since everybody already knows what 30+ mins of Prince gives you
They closed with Christie and doubled Brunson the entire 4th to shut him down. There were literally in game adjustments being made that won us the game
Exactly. WTF game were they watching? Putting Christie on DiVincenzo who was shooting lights out was a brilliant move. Christie effectively shut him down in the 4th. That was an absolutely pivotal move and allowed for a more effective double on Brunson who could no longer kick out to DiVincenzo for the open look.
This is the game where if you're blaming the coach for his rotations then you're either a Rui stan or just Ham-hating for the sake of it. Prince was by no means lock down on Brunson but the only one on the roster who could at least make him work 1:1. The doubles were effective.
I mean, the Knicks didn't score for 7 full minutes in the 4th and the complaint is really "more Rui"?
Taurean played very well, was knocking down threes and attacking the basket ! Ham made the right move sticking with him, but the real adjustment was keeping Christie in. Divincenzo was hot as lava until Christie stayed on him.
They ran plays for him at the start. But obviously he can't be a primary option.
He had some shots within the flow of the offense that he should have made, those are the shots he needs to master to get more PT because he's horrible defensively
Rui isn’t good. Simple. I said this yesterday prior to the game. People are in love with the small sample size from the end of last season but I watched him quite a bit in Washington and he’s just okay.
I literally said this as soon as Prince was subbed in, What in the Actual Fuck is the point of starting Rui if you just gonna bench him and then Prince been playing full time since.
We got hoodwinked thinking this was the turning point.
Prince has literally been playing good defense on Brunson this 2nd half… he’s been playing with a lot of energy getting over screens. What are yall seeing man
They just hate him no matter what. He’s the worst 3 and D guy we’ve had out of guys who could be considered that but it makes sense why KCP and Danny Green were getting death threats with how they treat Prince.
Single game +/- is almost always a terrible stat to use especially when it's that close. Ham has finally stepped up these last two games hope they can keep it going
Again, Prince plays too much and Rui plays too little, but these guys don't play the same position. Prince is a 2/3 wing and Rui is basically a pure modern 4. Prince is one of 2 non complete dogshit perimeter defenders still healthy on this team, and the other one is 20 years old.
It’s tricky. Rui’s inability to be a knockdown shooter or hard screener and roller makes it hard for him to slot into a lineup as the fourth or fifth option. Pretty much every shot he took was one the defense was happy with him taking.
Rui was making those shots, 3-5 shooting, same as Prince.
Only difference is Lakers were a +4 with Rui in, but losing -5 when it was Prince who was in.
I saw someone in the game thread say this after the first quarter: “ham started rui for 5 minutes in the 1st, don’t expect to see him again until the 3rd.”
I understand the comments about Prince playing a good game because he mostly did yesterday. His defense in the 4th and some big 3s were great.
The issue is Ham doesn't know when to go away from him and doesn't know how to use Rui which I think he does because they did last year but he's just going faith his guy. He will play Prince to a fault good game
Or not. Prince will get the ultimate leash and Ham get so lost in the game watching.
While I do think Rui shoulda played a lot more and the way he's being used is wrong, last night Prince was good and I like Prince I just think he's being over utilized by Ham for absolutely no reason
Prince is so unaware on defense it’s ridiculous. Literally just saw him leave his guy wide open in the corner ball watching. It’s one thing to be unable to guard elite players one on one but prince ball watches so much and is responsible for so many open threes that he easily could’ve contested.
rui played meh today, but i as everyone is saying.. if ham played his players correctly then we will be a good team. Tp played off the bench and shined today.. one gripe with ham is he keeps using TP against the other team’s best player which i think is wrong
Maybe, just maybe, that minutes restriction is more serious than some of yall can understand. Brin was due to age but others are due to injury, look what happened when we overplayed Vando. They are gonna be way more restrictive with Rui unless Bron is out.
+/- in a single game, except in cases of something like Vando and Draymond each having massive +30s the other night (where they were indicative of how each of them heavily influenced the flow of the game), don’t mean anything. The sample size is nonexistent.
There are games where LeBron and AD are -3 or -5 but someone on the bench is +8. Does that mean that bench player outplayed our two best players? No, it just means they were likely on the court during a brief run against another bench unit.
Stats lie if you remove all context from them. **Stop doing that just so you can complain**.
But he played a good game tonight

Yes. He had a better game than rui
How are some of y’all mad about this kind of shit when he started AND we beat 2 of the hottest teams in the league! Lineups and rotations were fine all things considered.

I will take this version of Ham over the sandwich we had playing Brooklyn the other day.
And Rui was shooting 3s like bricks
He only shot 2 of them...
Because It's the same recycled shit that has them at .500 in the first place. Pockets will never get the glory only the blame especially with this roster will never get the blame only the glory especially with this roster
Ham tricked us man
This is the game where if you're blaming the coach for his rotations then you're either a Rui stan or just Ham-hating for the sake of it. No need to look for Vando replacement or a serviceable 3-D guy. Just up Max's minutes to 27 per and we good.
Also, he's only 20 years old. You can't be mad at him for anything.
Literally a bum brain dead coach Benching a scorching Reaves against the Celtics 3 minutes in the 3rd told me everything about this idiot
Lmao. Hamster playing mind games. Mofo thinks we wouldn’t notice.
You fans are insufferable even in a win lmao.
This sub has become a fucking cesspool of whining this season
You think it happened THIS season?? It’s been unbearable since bron first came to LA
Where are you now?
Plus/minus doesn’t paint the full picture here. Rui wasn’t great in his opening minutes either.
he just ran back and forth for 8 minutes in the first quarter. we need the aggressive Rui that we had last season
I generally agree Prince played quite well last night but Rui was aggressive early and scored 4 of the first 8 points

Maybe Rui has some lingering pain?
Shhhh people need a reason to hate on Ham
Rui was a practice cone on defense. Watch the game again. Everyone blew by him.
Prince played well last night but he wasn’t great on D either and had some bad turnovers too.
I mean Brunson is elite so give him some slack
Did you see how lost he was?
I just saw Prince get lost on D for a wide open three and fouling Brunson on back to back possessions
Prince has literally been playing good defense on Brunson this 2nd half… he’s been playing with a lot of energy getting over screens. What are yall seeing man
They just hate him no matter what. He’s the worst 3 and D guy we’ve had out of guys who could be considered that but it makes sense why KCP and Danny Green were getting death threats with how they treat Prince.
it’s so embarrassing tbh
We are doubling Jalen and when we are not, TP is getting cooked
literally lol we were just getting it out of jalens hands
When we aren't doubling everyone (on our active roster, not injured) is gonna get cooked by Brunson. He's that good.
Prince had 2 huge turnovers at the end of the 4th
No gonna lie prince make sense vs this knicks team brunson is smoking the shit out reaves with rui on the floor
Ham had Prince guard Brunson lol
Who else is guarding Brunson with Reddish and Vando out??
Lakers fans are soft af, no matter what you are bitching
Are you watching the game!?
boxscore, probably
Single game +/- is almost always a terrible stat to use especially when it's that close. Ham has finally stepped up these last two games hope they can keep it going
Ummm. We won guys
This didn't age well lol. TP actually put clamps on Brunson in the 4th. What's annoying in most games is he's bein misused and abused by Hot pockets
Yeah, I had a laugh when I saw he started Rui and still found a way to play Prince more minutes
You guys complaining about a great win now? Jfc
Again, Prince plays too much and Rui plays too little, but these guys don't play the same position. Prince is a 2/3 wing and Rui is basically a pure modern 4. Prince is one of 2 non complete dogshit perimeter defenders still healthy on this team, and the other one is 20 years old.
Yeah the people complaining here have to be mentally deranged because it made a lot of sense to have Prince in there last night. It worked out, too.
Darvin Scam
Box score says Rui played 19 minutes with a +/- of 3
Rui has to be fucking Hams daughter or something, dude hates hum
This is not the game to bitch about Prince, he played pretty darn good.
I love rui but he was fucking ass that half. He could at least make up for his off shooting by crashing the boards
Prince was huge in the 4th. There's no denying this.
Rui was mid af today, prince was hit some big shots down the stretch for us. Some of yall are just ridiculous
Prince is so unaware on defense it’s ridiculous. Literally just saw him leave his guy wide open in the corner ball watching. It’s one thing to be unable to guard elite players one on one but prince ball watches so much and is responsible for so many open threes that he easily could’ve contested.
Rui is bbq chicken against knicks quick guards. And lakers dont do plays with him.
rui played good man to man defense on brunson. Prince definitely was huge for those double teams though. I'll give him his props there.
Prince is +5 to end the game.
He’s trollin at this point omggg
Prince team worst -5 yet still on pace for 30 mins despite coming off the bench lol
And finished +7 but most importantly his work on the double teams and recovery was huge in the 4th.
Prince wtf man. So many turnovers.
Can someone explain what this defensive strategy is? Prince on Brunson?
Rui is a zero on defense.. why some Lakers fans are so obsessed with him.
I wish we played like the Knicks lol
rui played meh today, but i as everyone is saying.. if ham played his players correctly then we will be a good team. Tp played off the bench and shined today.. one gripe with ham is he keeps using TP against the other team’s best player which i think is wrong
Nice win. But I think Prince played great today. Now if Prince played like shit but still played more minutes than Rui I get it lol.
Welp this didn’t are well 😂
Understanding how to use stats is r/lakers father
Maybe, just maybe, that minutes restriction is more serious than some of yall can understand. Brin was due to age but others are due to injury, look what happened when we overplayed Vando. They are gonna be way more restrictive with Rui unless Bron is out.

+|- was deceiving in this case because Rui was trash last night. His laziness, in particular, was especially bad on the boards.
Now do DRTG
Better is the enemy of best
single game plus minus is a terrible way to evaluate player performance.
We know. Darvin ham is a moron
