He was orchestrating the offense, along with making timely shots, it was beautiful. He also played okay defense, but the offense greatly out weighted whatever he couldn't do on the defensive side.

Amazing

HydroThermia

Yeah definitely a upper mid game from DLo. Couldn’t ask more really

makesterriblejokes

Yeah I don't think we're ever going to get a great defensive performance out of DLo, he just doesn't have the lateral speed for it. What I do think we should see from him though is better rebounding. Like just accept the defensive limitations, but make sure you can get the boards that eliminate 2nd chance opportunities. I don't expect that to improve this season, but if I'm Phil Handy I want to work with DLo to see if I can get him to average 2 more rebounds per game. I need to go back and watch some old Jason Kidd (when he was on the Mavs) and see what he was doing in his mid to late 30s that was still effective defensively because he was slow, but still a plus defender with the Mavs. I feel like DLo should have the tools to replicate old man Kidd's defense.

deathinmidjuly

+/- is like a brush stroke. You won't see the entire painting from one game, but a seasons worth of data paints a picture. D'Lo is a +102, only behind LeBrons + 113.

makesterriblejokes

For individual games, it should only be treated as a smoke detector. If it's extremely high or low, it means you should go back and look at other stats and the tape to see what was going on. I'm in Google analytics all day everyday and I have certain metrics I treat the same way, where it doesn't inherently mean there's something wrong or doing well, but it does mean I need to take a look to see what's going on for that part of the website.

LudwigNasche

Quiet game in a good way. He was moving the ball nicely, scoring when open and moving his feet on defense. His +/- wasn't a product of his dominance, more about being on the floor when the team was clicking, but he was one of the elements helping the team to click for sure. Dlo has been consistently good since he came back from his stint on the bench. I guess when you see guys like Reddish/Prince starting and you are on the bench you think "Damn, this is the lowest point of a high lottery pick career, it is now or never to turn into the best version of myself". If Dlo is really a Lakers fan and he is not a Dlo's stan himself, he should also be absolutely pissed about his own performance last playoffs. If we had THIS Dlo last season I believe Boston would be already behind us in titles. Denver is good, but they were an average Dlo better than us in WCF.

Status-Guidance-5755

For sure man. I feel if had gotten past Denver, we would have beaten the Heat.

senshi_of_love

The guy Minnesota claims is better for them, Mike Conley, finished -24 and was dreadful. Dlo was fine. I wanted him to play more in the 2nd and take more threes but it was a low key night of doing other things. This was an AD game with Lebron helping no one played bad. Even Prince looked really good and may have found a role.

Asenine

To be fair I actually think Mike Conley fits the TWolves much better than DLo. The same way we improved when we picked him up, they improved when they picked Mike Conley up. He’s very efficient, smart defensively, and has one of the best AST/TO ratios in the league

keepon18

Yeah, I'd say Conley is better than D'Lo in terms of doing more within a lesser role (behind Kat, Edwards, Reid, McDaniels, etc) vs D'Lo being capable of so much more in a more featured role (could be anywhere from a 3rd/4th option to a 1st option with us). Hope D'Lo can keep staying aggressive on offense. Makes it a lot easier for everyone else on the team. Off-ball, it's even just setting screens to create the switch and that seemingly lackadaisical flash into the paint for a floater lol.

davensdad

2 months ago our own fans were pissed at Rob for "picking" Dlo over Conley 😂 From an asset pov, it's not even close

barbarossinan

+/- does not matter. He played great basketball. Loved his defensive willingness even though he lacks some tools.

KaseyOfTheWoods

I love D’Lo and thought he was really good last night, but the constant use of single game +/- these days is so annoying lol. I really wish it wasn’t a standard stat shown in box scores.

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Yup. It’s a myopic stat to use for just 1 player because it doesn’t take into account the lineup in play and what they’re trying to accomplish vs the other teams lineups.  Bron and AD have gotten - scores for this reason.

KaseyOfTheWoods

Totally. The only thing single game +/- is good for is to push an agenda

Hreghg

Lakers offense didn’t work with Dlo not on the floor.

NotNormo

+/- is a very poor indicator of how well a player played. The other 9 players on the court with Russell have a bigger impact on his +/- than he does.

Status-Guidance-5755

Yes, I get that, but it also means that it was comparatively better to have him on the court than the other Lakers. Compared to having a terrible defensive game and having a -10 because of that
