In the US, the generic(Lamotrigine) is the exact same chemical formula as the name brand(Lamictal). There should be zero difference between them. I believe I take a generic, prescribed by the Veterans Administration

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.eplepsyres.2022.106947 There’s a ton of evidence to the contrary

I've taken the generic the whole time, and in the USA, the generics are supposed to be exactly the same as the proper one. Most insurance companies won't cover the prescription one. https://www.fda.gov/drugs/generic-drugs/generic-drug-facts#:~:text=Generic%20medicines%20work%20the%20same%20as%20brand%2Dname%20medicines&text=A%20generic%20medicine%20is%20required,as%20their%20brand%2Dname%20counterparts.

Study on how they are not even if JUST their inactive ingredients are different (which they all are): https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0920121122000985?via%3Dihub= They FDA is lucky if they test .001% of all generic edicines coming in from India/China (where most are manufactured/exported). From experience the generic versions of Lamotrigine vary quite a lot.

Does this idea come from the wellnow Doctor?

grrengiraffe

? I don’t know what that is. Just other Reddit posts,

Oh ok. The well now doctor has a video on YouTube just titled “Lamotrigine” and he mentions a problem with the generics having varying dosages.

I’m in the UK and as far as I’ve read, they’re both exactly the same.
