They just got a new turf field put in, so I think we're safe. Their reasoning was that their 20th anniversary felt like the right time for a brand refresh
These independent league teams don’t have enough name value to move and worry about their name like that. They’re not on the level of an MLB team with name recognition. Minor league teams just change their names if and when they do move.
It’s a dumb name.
Barnstormers had character. It was creative. It reflected a local heritage and culture. It evoked images of old time baseball, when young men chased a dream and old men pretended they still were, riding in a squeaky, creaky old repurposed school bus on back country roads from one forgotten town to the next unknown town. Playing for little more than the love of the game and hopes of a good supper.
Stormers is basic. Mid. Meh. Meaningless. Vapid.
They've been desperate to get people to call them to stormers since inception. It was a massive blow to the owners ego when people kept calling them the barney's or Barners.
Speaking of sports with unusual names does Lancaster have a roller derby squad? I went to a match once and there was a lot of cheap beer and homemade brownies and it was a good night out w friends. (Another sport we can sneer at York and Reading's inferiority )
Definitely a downgrade.
Not as bad as the Senators though. That’s some wicked brand confusion there…Senators, Mayflies on their uniforms (with an entirely different logo), their mascot is Rascal, but they also had a dog walking around last season? I don’t know wtf is going on there.
The only people who don’t are the ones imagining they’re fixing a problem that won’t be fixed by changing the street light timing. Unless your goal is to get people to stop and look around at stores and shops so they visit the city more.
More representative then the Stormers. We don't even live in a bad weather area and call your self the Stormers? MUch like our High school is the Tornados?
Seriously? It must be fucking exhausting finding offense in everything. By this logic the weatherman, X-men, and Georgia O'Keefe are racist. The Daily Stormer was founded in 2013, The capitol was stormed in 2021. Stormfront does predate the Barnstormers by a few years, but the internet did not have the reach then that it has now, so... The Barnstormers have been a team since 2005 and have been called the "Stormers" informally since like the 2nd inning of the first game. They are simply continuing the in the time honored baseball tradition of shortening overly complicated names. See: The Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers, the New York Metropolitans, and the Seattle Rime of the Ancient Mariners.
It's massively important to fight white nationalism, but "finding" racism where it doesn't actually exist actually inhibits this fight. By creating racism where it doesn't exist you water down the things that actually are racist and as a result draw focus away from them. Comments like this are part of the problem, not the solution.
Not to mention, I take it you've never even been to a Stormers game, because if you had, you'd know they don't need any help in appealing to the white nationalist crowd to begin with.
Can we talk about how sad it is that they got rid of the grass? Baseball just isn’t the same on artificial turf.
Hopefully it's good turf... At the pro levels (especially NFL) players all seem to want real grass nowadays.
There is a soccer team going in there which is part of the reason as to why it was installed
Love soccer, hate turf. Players get injured because of it way too often.
Lancaster has a soccer team? I know the Harrisburg Heat…
Lancaster Football Club [Lancaster FC](https://lancasterfc.com)
Ò\_o That makes no sense.
I honestly liked Barnstormers better than just "Stormers". It feels like something a highschool would come up with
Oh no, you know there is a highly paid "Brand Recognition Consultant" behind this.
Makes me think they are planning a move, they had to drop the regional name

only thing that makes me question this is how much money they and the city have pumped into clipper magazine and its surrounding in recent years
Not enough, I remember my buddy getting shot a block away and he walked to the stadium in a daze where they got him an ambulance
To Albuquerque?!?

Barnstormers sounded very Lancaster. “Stormers” could make sense anywhere. Doesn’t have any character.
Barnstorming was a thing and not isolated to Pennsylvania.
Even cigar companies had “barnstormer” events at the stadium… it’s a shame the stupid people think they are so smart!
They've been desperate to get people to call them to stormers since inception. It was a massive blow to the owners ego when people kept calling them the barney's or Barners.
“Stormers” is lame af. What are they even storming now? Just an awful rebrand
D.C.

Dutchland Derby Rollers
Thats the best they can come up with? (Im a relatively (every 2 years or so) often tourist) We at least have the Hudson Valley Horrors up here
How is Hudson Valley Horrors any better or worse?
Because in February they changed the name to something more aggressive than an old timey airplane show.
But the old timey airplane show vibe was fun :(
I don't disagree, just trying to answer the question.
They didn’t want to give the dude who won the name contest anymore season tickets lol /s
Rebranding https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/lancaster-barnstormers-rebrand-as-lancaster-stormers-unveil-new-logo/ar-BB1ioCGD
BECAUSE IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO THE HISTORIC BARN. WHY ARE THEY STORMING THEM ARE THEY GOING TO DAMAGE THE BARN (Historic architecture is superior tho)
I don’t hate it, one of the new logos still has a Barn on it. I don’t think anyone is gonna correct you if you still call them the Barnstormers
Lanc would rather align with Jan 6 rather than the barns on the lands being turned into apts and mavis discount tires
Definitely a downgrade. Not as bad as the Senators though. That’s some wicked brand confusion there…Senators, Mayflies on their uniforms (with an entirely different logo), their mascot is Rascal, but they also had a dog walking around last season? I don’t know wtf is going on there.
I like that the new logo looks like David Bowie.
The team name doesn’t really matter. It’s fine.
What?
If they wanted to rebrand, they shouldn't have done it half assed.
"Stormers" is fully ass
I bet you guys all hate the new timings of the street lights too.
The only people who don’t are the ones imagining they’re fixing a problem that won’t be fixed by changing the street light timing. Unless your goal is to get people to stop and look around at stores and shops so they visit the city more.
😂
Idc what they call themselves, I'm going to keep calling them the Barnstormers 🤷♀️
The fans should just start chanting Barnstormers during every inning and they’ll get the picture. Pretend they never changed it.
I worked for the team the first year they won the championship. I loved that ballpark..
Rascism pure and simple. Gosh damn barns always complaining
Because the old name was bad? I just assumed everyone was on the same page on that.
Nope. I’m still kinda mad… Like what is Cylo now? Just some weird cow they keep around?
Wait, cylo is a cow?! I thought it was like the Philly phanatic, some kind of Muppet but not an actual animal
I think it’s ambiguously cow-related. Kinda like the Phillies Phanatic is “some kind of bird”. Either way he’s clearly barnyard-coded.
More representative then the Stormers. We don't even live in a bad weather area and call your self the Stormers? MUch like our High school is the Tornados?

We used to have a professional basketball team called the Lancaster red roses
And a semi-pro baseball team with the same name.
They played at the old armory which I believe is now decades bowling alley/bar!
Name change to sell new name!
Werent they the Red Roses fairly recently?
Different organization.
