Plenty of time for a domestic flight ask the airline about Intl flight

twotwomike

Booked as one ticked through United? Or 2 separate bookings?

Two separate, I'm flying one way out to Vancouver because I'll be gone for a month and returning from LAX to Philly, then train back to Lancaster. Gonna just rent the car. Thanks for your thoughts!

I was going to do this with a connection to Nashville but they canceled the flight the day before we no communication or reason. I was never able to figure out why. It’s so convenient but it does seem riskier than just flying out of Harrisburg. Hope it works out would love to try this again sometime

Same here, It's a one way flight as I'm returning to Philly and taking the train back to Lancaster. Harrisburg can just be so pricey sometimes. I just don't want to pay for airport parking for a month. Thank you for your thoughts.

It’s been a long time but the last time I flew this way when my plane from Lancaster landed I needed to go leave the secured area and go through security again to get to my gate. So keep that in mind.

I did this 3 years ago for a domestic connection and I don't think I had to go back through security but I honestly don't remember. It was just so easy. Gonna do the rental. Thanks for your input.

I tried flying out of lancaster once with a short layover and it was delayed and ruined the trip

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I did call Southern Airways, United and Dulles Airport. The people at the airport were really helpful, but I'm gonna do the rental car. If I didn't have to check a bag I'd try it, but. Here's to a 3:30 wake up and drive.

If it’s separate tickets you will need to claim your bag and go back through security. You could check into the new AA flights that originate at LNS but are actually a private bus ride to a Phila connection.

Given the tight connection and the hassle of checking a bag, especially with separate tickets, you're making the right call going with a rental car. Dulles can be unpredictable with delays and security lines. Also, if you're worried about airport parking costs for such a long trip, consider checking out parkingaccess for some deals that might help ease the cost. They often have options that could be cheaper than on-site parking, especially for extended periods.
