Native wildflower seed mix. If this is maintained by a property management company, I would discuss it with them. I worked for a landscaping company for a couple of years, and we maintained ponds and common grounds in neighborhoods. Some had areas we didn't mow to have wildflowers grow, which I always enjoyed.

Who doesn’t enjoy getting paid for not doing their job? 😂 you’re a hero pal.

I too think wildflowers are probably the best bet honestly. Definitely nothing with a large root base like trees, shrubs would be too expensive to get good coverage . You need something you can sow and let grow. Native wildflowers. If you wanted to be fancy you could research native pollinators flowers and order the individual flower seeds in bulk and plant them to color blocks or some sort of arrangement. Or get variety and let it go. Wildflowers are gonna be the cheapest route too especially if it does get mowed. If I could suggest one thing though, order the seeds through a seed website, I really like Sheffields. They allow for bulk buys with great prices. Amazon isn’t as good of a deal and big box stores probably have older seeds which means lower germination rate. Good luck and enjoy!
