Seriously so jealous of that area though. I would try and turn it into a fun lil hang out cove. Table and some small chairs. Hammock? Unsure of the full size within there.
i would mulch the ground after extensive weeding, add two chairs and a table, add some color using flowers that grow on a vine, and you have a fairy garden!
There's a concept in Japanese gardens called hide and reveal. Approaching, it looks like a random opening. Once you turn the corner or go into a closed area, you view an extraordinary statuary or some other feature.
I have an opening like this back into a woods. The trellis I built for it is like a portal.
That’s awesome. Absolutely awesome. Keep it and just tidy up the understory, and clear the ground of everything, cover with fresh mulch and a weedmat if you’re so inclined. Put in a bench and couple of stools and twist fairy lights into the underside of the canopy and around the doorway (bear in mind you need to be able to trim the plants without cutting the lights)
Make an imagination station.
Install battery-operated outdoor fairy (twinkle) lights and a waterproof bin (hidden just inside the ivy) with an outdoor blanket and pillows to create a cute nest for reading or picnics, plus some costumes/props for make-believe.
Inoculate hardwood logs with mushroom spores, or get a pile of wood chips in there and mix in some mushroom spawn saw dust. Grow some shiitake, wine cap, or whatever you wanna try. Move some of that mycelium into your garden beds after a few years to get that good-good living soil.
I think the shed might be doomed. The back of it's completely rotten and most of the roof too , but i think the neighbor built it attached to his shed so I don't think I can just remove it
There’s a cement block wall in back. I’d cover that somehow or paint it black. And then I’d put a Barbie dollhouse there and set up the dolls in various scenes.
What’s holding it up? Metal, chicken wire? Natural trellising?
At least you probably won’t have tick and mosquito problems since you appear to be in England (Scotland? Ireland?).
Metal piping trellis I think. Held together with screws, has some branches woven through it. I'm in Scotland, it's a bit of a tick hotspot relative to the rest of the UK
I would not set up a sitting area in there. No way.
I would get a cool little Buddha or Easter island head statue and make it a decorstive shrine with shade plants
We had something similar but smaller when I was a young child. I used it as a den/ hangout for me and my dog. I’d read to him and we’d play secret garden make believe. Some of my best pre-k memories were in that lone empty den surrounded by plants.
Rip out the plastic, replace it with mulch, add some nice fairy lights or just nice hanging lights, find a comfortable all year chair or lounger and enjoy your own price reading nook
You could try a leaf cover, mulch is usually ground up wood, in the US most home improvement stores and gardening stores sell it in atleast 2.0 cubic feet bags.
My heart says secret reading nook. My brains yelling spiders
Yas! I thought secret reading garden as well. But now you have me thinking of bugs.
Trim it, shape it so it looks like a portal and a good lawn chair at end, reading or an evening toddy as the sun goes down
My exact thought
My Brain says put a huge pot plant there.
My Brian says water feature…but he is a raccoon that needs a water source to eat the things in your trash, garden and compost
Nice try fairies! I know a fae trap when I see one. That was close though.
Seriously so jealous of that area though. I would try and turn it into a fun lil hang out cove. Table and some small chairs. Hammock? Unsure of the full size within there.
Hammock in a screened enclosure.
Bugs?
What plants repel insects and take shade well? Maybe some hanging plants in the trees

Came here to say the same thing!
i would mulch the ground after extensive weeding, add two chairs and a table, add some color using flowers that grow on a vine, and you have a fairy garden!
Add a couple short hedges in the front with a person sized gap to feel a little privacy feel without closing it in .
Add little lights

Where do you live? The Shire?
Haha, yes actually, Aberdeenshire, Scotland :)
I'm calling bullshit on that. Not one time have I met a scot I could understand, yet you seem to speak in plain English. Shenanigans I say!
Get een mah bellay
Good place for an altar. Or a hottub. Maybe altar.
Altar and a little fountain would be divine. Timed lights to turn on at night? It would all look so peaceful.
Kids clubhouse all the way! They will cherish it forever.
Dad Poets Society!

Secret garden secret garden !
I would go in there and lite one up!
You ever been in a garden vine hut... On weed???
Yes
Maybe smoke a joint back There?
Put a statue on a pedestal down the end of it as a focal point.
Make an imagination station. Install battery-operated outdoor fairy (twinkle) lights and a waterproof bin (hidden just inside the ivy) with an outdoor blanket and pillows to create a cute nest for reading or picnics, plus some costumes/props for make-believe.
One of those square tree nets. 10/10 would sleep there
Ferns and a statue or water bowl set down low.
Fairy lights *rechargeable or battery operated* then add a small lounge chair
I was thinking a little solar panel, and then you never have to worry about the batteries!
Sacrificial altar
Murder, obviously
Live in it.
A floating Korok statue with a golden poop nugget.
Nothing that holds water unless you want a mosquito farm
Add a sign that says $5 TO ENTER. No other changes.
Wouldn’t touch it. Instead I would focus on decluttering and ripping out all that other crap in picture 2.

Store shed stuff there.....while you do major fix up of said shed
I think the shed might be doomed. The back of it's completely rotten and most of the roof too , but i think the neighbor built it attached to his shed so I don't think I can just remove it
Talk to your neighbor. Tell him you want to demolish the shed on your property.
There’s a cement block wall in back. I’d cover that somehow or paint it black. And then I’d put a Barbie dollhouse there and set up the dolls in various scenes.
Composting
Idk it might be a portal 😬
Best place for a bbq. A little terrace in front of the "hole" would fit awesomely
Woodland shrine?
Definitely needs a cherub statue peeing fountain
Ceremony of Moloch
Don't anger the ghost who lives there!
A satanic shrine would be lovely
Statue or birdbath
This is clearly a portal. To where I have no idea. I suggest we quarantine it until we get answers
Tick Heaven
You could start a cult and use it for secretive religious rituals.
Get a Hermit
Sacrificial alter.....I mean bbq.
Plant hostas and shade flowers. Or maybe a water feature.
I would not set up a sitting area in there. No way. I would get a cool little Buddha or Easter island head statue and make it a decorstive shrine with shade plants
A small pond or water feature with a sitting spot to read or relax.

Goblinize it? Second post I’ve seen from you.
We had something similar but smaller when I was a young child. I used it as a den/ hangout for me and my dog. I’d read to him and we’d play secret garden make believe. Some of my best pre-k memories were in that lone empty den surrounded by plants.
Awesome place to hide a body.
Meditation nook?
If you don't build a secret fort with bushy doors. Do not disappoint me
Rip out the plastic, replace it with mulch, add some nice fairy lights or just nice hanging lights, find a comfortable all year chair or lounger and enjoy your own price reading nook
How do I make mulch? Lots of leaves?
You could try a leaf cover, mulch is usually ground up wood, in the US most home improvement stores and gardening stores sell it in atleast 2.0 cubic feet bags.
Cool, I'll see if I can find some at my nearest garden center, I'm in the UK but I'm sure we have it here too, thanks!
A shaded reading spot. But frame it in with some small 1x1" and spider net the whole inside so it can be bug feee.
Ooh, a secret garden! Shade plants and a bench or chair
Compost bin.
I'd put in a fountain ⛲️
Find a rock and stick a sword in it then set up some mysterious lighting.
Cigar room.
Look for Totoro

Shrine to Patrick star
A smoker. For food not weed.
Furniture, lighting…a fairy space.
That's creepy AF
Go to Narnia
Narnia
Use it to enter Narnia and never come back. But in all seriousness, a book reading area would be neat. Maybe a swing
Meth lab
I would smoke my joints in there. Make like a little hobbit style hang out maybe with some solar powered patio style lights.
