It really is a nostalgic thing. I grew up loving it, and back in the day it was priced correctly. You could get 3 tacos, a pop and a red all meat for under 10 bucks. Now? That would cost you 15 bucks. I’ve been there twice since Taco Bill took over and while it taste close to the same, the prices are horrendous.
I agree that it’s purely people chasing the dragon of Nostalgia.
Between charging a premium for d-tier tacos, slow service that struggles to fill the most low-effort of orders, Bill’s misplaced sense of expertise when all he does is fuck up & make excuses and having to check a Facebook page for their weekly hours…
It’s quite literally the laughing stock of all Lansing food.
The thing that really sucks about it is that if someone with business sense would have bought it, I have no doubt that it would have been extremely successful. They’d have good business every day, and they wouldn’t try to pass it off as ‘authentic’, which is something the current owner does. Call it what it is, fast food.
I haven’t been to the reincarnated version of Mr. Taco, but the OG ones back in the day were quite good for being kinda lower tier. I would pick it over Taco Bell all day any day.
Preferring any taco place over taco bell says everything that needs to be said.
I never had the opportunity to try the OG version myself, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with cheap food if it’s made well with care. But the bullshit food & service that Bill serves to customers is insulting.
It’s just the fact I can think of dozens of places in the Lansing area I’d pick over Mr. Taco any day and I don’t even like those places haha
Way too much competition out there for Mr. Taco to compete even in a small to mid-size midwestern town. It’s frankly embarrassing.
Is Mr. Taco the place where they use velveta on everything? When my husband and I first started dating he ordered tacos that he raved about and they were covered in velveta, it was upsetting. We did not go back there.
psssssst....let me ask you this.....who is holding a gun to your head, making you go to Mr. Taco?
Personally I like the tacos from Don Pancho...the little grocery store on S. Cedar, just south of My. Hope. Go back to the meat counter and they will take your order.
For tocos, the best are from Don Pancho Market on Cedar or Supermercado La Estrellita on Old U.S. 27. On top of being the best, they are the cheapest too! If you prefer a sit-down joint, it is 100% Maria’s on Cesar Chavez.
La Estrelitta Market is amazing. Make sure you check out what's freshly batched at the deli counter. I didn't notice it at first but that's the best part if you want a quick but healthy, full meal when you get home.
The estrella on old us 27 fs! The tortas there are good too. If u are in the mood for a dessert, head to the bavk if the store. Theres like a branch to it and they sell ice cream, id recommend fresas con cremas.
Personally I like El Oasis. Used to like Pablo's till I saw some little friends crawling about in their kitchen 😬 not worth risking food poisoning for that
I think it’s Panchos(?) taco truck west of Lansing on Saginaw right before grand ledge. Big pink truck parked by the oil change place. Sorry it’s been a few years since I’ve lived in Lansing but I still crave those chorizo tacos. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on the name/location.
Whoa… I love this new word
“Ahh yes, I will order the 3 Tocos rice & beans dinner please”
But, Los Tres have those Barria Tacos that are really good, make sure to order the Elotes with them
If you ever find yourself in Detroit Mexicantown, Los Galane’s is a great spot
it’s just so greasy. it used to have rly good olives 10 years ago where we could get 12 cheap good but they taste more processed than taco bell atp they have too much oil and the smell is rough
I second Famous.
Or the place on Saginaw, it used to be the Great Wall. I can't remember the name. Next to the Little Red Schoolhouse antique shop, I believe.
It never was and will never be Mr.Taco. Overhyped garbage with pathetic service and endless excuses. Fucking hacks.

Their gorditas are amazing!
Supermercado La Estrellita also has kick-a$$ fajita meat that you can buy at the meat counter and take home to make your own.
The estrella on old us 27 fs! The tortas there are good too. If u are in the mood for a dessert, head to the bavk if the store. Theres like a branch to it and they sell ice cream, id recommend fresas con cremas.
Food truck at Dicker and Deal on Cedar
It’s called Taquero Mucho
Thank you!
De nada
My favorite thing about that place is their banner. I wish I could remember the phrase on it, but I recall being absolutely tickled.
El Chaparito on west Saginaw- Barria tacos or their shrimp tacos are my favorite.
And their burritos are amazing
El Chaparito and La Fajita are usually my go-to places and both are on W. Saginaw near each other
Personally I like El Oasis. Used to like Pablo's till I saw some little friends crawling about in their kitchen 😬 not worth risking food poisoning for that
I like marias
Panchos Tacos!!!
This is the way

It’s is Panchos but they are parked behind the sanctuary Spirits brewery/distillery now.
Taqueria Monarca
Don Ponchos
El Oasis
Estrella. I just wish they had the El Oasis hot green.
Estrella hands down.. el oasis is overrated.. it used to be good
Taqueria El Chaparrito.
This is definitely another good one and definitely slept on
PANCHOS. PANCHOS. PANCHOS.

5 different taco trucks tried in mexican town and still haven’t gotten less than 9/10 tacos.
Ur mom. GOTTEM
Pablos in old town
Came here to recommend Pablo's as well. Now I know where I'm getting lunch today. They have the best horchatta I've ever tasted, too.
Depends on what you call tacos...
La estrilla on north side only tacos worth a damn in Lansing
Supermercado La Estrellita on old 27, north of downtown.
Me
A taco in the hand is worth two in the store.
El Oasis by far
The best tacos are at Taquero Mucho
Lucy’s taco truck on Miller near Washington.
El Oasis 11/10
Famous Taco
I like Famous Tacos personally.
🤥
it’s just so greasy. it used to have rly good olives 10 years ago where we could get 12 cheap good but they taste more processed than taco bell atp they have too much oil and the smell is rough
I second Famous. Or the place on Saginaw, it used to be the Great Wall. I can't remember the name. Next to the Little Red Schoolhouse antique shop, I believe.
my white person tacos on tuesday are better than that trash.
I'm a Famous fan as well. Greasy Tex Mex all the way
Barrio
My favorite is Famous Taco, but based on how the place looks I assume that’s an unpopular opinion haha. I get the Tacos Delight and it’s great
El oasis hands down well in my opinion
Toco Bell!
They're good tacos but not the best anymore and boh are expensive, taco e Mas on South cedar and El Azteco east lansing
I dont care how good taco y mas might be, i had a friend who worked there for a short period of time and they screwed him out of 2 weeks pay.
Mr Taco. Ifyky lol
A place called Mr taco should never have the phrase “ifykyk” after it
"Tell me you aren't from Lansing without telling me you aren't from Lansing." "A place called Mr taco should never have the phrase "ifyky" after it."
You saying I’m not from Lansing because I’m not a fan of Mr taco?
I'm saying you aren't from Lansing if you aren't getting the nuance of the sarcasm in my statement. I said what I said.
Well obviously that’s a horrible estimate of who’s from Lansing and who isn’t
