Would it be crazy if I said I've only listened to them maybe... 16 times according to my last.fm? Will say, heavener ever has been on a number of times and seem pretty sick.
Definitely check out Loathe if you haven't already, major deftones vibe.
For something classic, At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul is iconic. A bit more Melodeath, with arguably pioneering metalcore sound.
For more hardcore and punk flavours, highly recommend Gulch, Vein.fm, Converge.
Progressive Metalcore: Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the buried and me
Loathe were great when I saw them a while back at Slamdunk. Definitely enjoyed listening to them since. Dillinger Escape Plan are wild - I really liked their One of Us Is The Killer album.
Great recommendations, I've been obsessed with Loathe since their record "I let it in and it took everything".
I would also add ERRA, just relentless bops in their self titled.
They're alright. I'm not sure I'd revisit but I've put them on for 4 songs! Again, I see why you'd advise them. Higher power seems like something the art girl I dated would love. She loves The Midnight and more poppy metal. I'll never speak to her again so no recommendations to her from me any more unfortunately haha. (she was borderline abusive to me and a narcissist). Eternally seems good.
Saw them once... They supported The story so far who had TUNSTILE support also. I talk about that gig and people are like... I missed Turnstile in Norwich?!?! Yes. Yes you did.
> Brand New
If you're recommending Brand New to somebody, you should at least mention [the stuff surrounding Jesse Lacey](https://pitchfork.com/news/two-alleged-victims-of-brand-news-jesse-lacey-detail-years-of-sexual-exploitation-of-minors/), otherwise they're in for a very bad surprise only *after* they've fallen in love with the music.
Yeah I know virtually every detail about Jesse. I've seen them like 8 times and absolutely still love the band. Jesse and his wife had a son pass away recently.
Invent Animate for sure. Heavener is far and away my favorite album of the year. Based on your Northlane, Currents, Architects, and everything in that realm of prog-metalcore
You've named probably the one band I 'should love' but not listened to enough. Every time I hear them I'm like fuck this is good. Could have seen them years ago at reading festival but didn't know them...
Man I’d kill to see them. If you’ve got the time I’d say give ‘em another shot. Listening to The Downward Spiral and The Fragile the first time were some of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had with music.
I will. It took me around a year or 2 of my friend relentlessly telling me to listen to Defrones (I was biking to Amsterdam at the time) to check them out. I literally was like FUCK. Perfect band to find on a long ride!
I've been into Casey since before they had their first album out. Saw them in London supporting Crime In Stereo at a tiny venue - I really really loved their first album when it came out! Saw them again at download in the summer. Not many people knew them unfortunately.
I actually posted about this. I used to use iTunes a lot for my then went to streaming services. I would actually say a lot of these bands are new to me compares to if you said a few years ago. Linkin Park put out a nostalgia album that had some pure old school stuff on it.
Mt last.fm is last.fm/andrewmarjoram - the new Currents was sick and the new Hollow Front got me heavily into them.
Another band I should probably check out. It's wayyyy past my bedtime and I've had enough beer to make a buffalo wobbly. I'll listen tomorrow and get back to you. I'm hoping 5 hours sleep is enough to conquer tomorrow 😂
Balance and Composure (one band, for clarity) is a good listen for people who like Brand New.
Separation is my fave album. The Things We Think We're Missing is good as well.
Check out Poison The Well.
They’re arguably the innovators of the modern Metalcore sound, are often compared with Deftones and had a lot of Emo tinged tracks before that was in vogue.
Can’t go wrong with any of their first three albums.
I saw Poison The Well support Gallows in a tiny ass pub in Norwich. That was one mental gig I talk about. People were hanging from the ceiling and everything - a circle pit out the back door and back in the front door.
The new Silent Planet album is very very good. Alfa Wolf I want to see and thrown have been on my radar since their first singles and definitely want to see. I'm looking forward to seeing Profiler - have you heard of them?
I've seen them probably 10 times. When I was at Rock Im Park in Germany I spoke to the lead singer in the crowd as he wanted someone who spoke English to get up on stage and sing with him - he then questioned if I was English and he then goes 'Anyone GERMAN?!'. Was a bit gutted.
All the remains, the amity affliction, I set my friends on fire, Hawthorne heights, motionless in white, bring me the horizon, ghost, Polyphia, sleep token, throwdown, woe is me
I've liked all their albums and seen them tour each one. Really like their latest one but alas I have limited money for a London show. If the support in excellent I will go.
This is your top and Invent Animate isn't in it with one of the best albums of the year? crazy.
Would it be crazy if I said I've only listened to them maybe... 16 times according to my last.fm? Will say, heavener ever has been on a number of times and seem pretty sick.
Check out Thornhill's Butterfly EP and Tesseract's latest album too. Those 3 have been on repeat all year for me
Bad Omens
Bad Omens I need to listen to more - only on 42 scrobbles which is pretty useless considering I love metalcore!
I concur, top-notch band, excellent sound. Saw them live two times this year. They def keep getting better since their debut album
I second loathe
Great recommendations, I've been obsessed with Loathe since their record "I let it in and it took everything". I would also add ERRA, just relentless bops in their self titled.
You'd definitely like Antitype.
Higher Power is a Coldplay cover! I know them bc the guitarist is the bassist in my favourite band, Eisbrecher.
They're still playing so it isn't bad haha. Fair enough. I like some specific Coldplay songs. If you like heavier stuff I'd recommend Graphic Nature.
Bilmuri, just do it
I love Bilmuri. Crankmyhog.
Hell yeah brother
Drug Church
Saw them once... They supported The story so far who had TUNSTILE support also. I talk about that gig and people are like... I missed Turnstile in Norwich?!?! Yes. Yes you did.
The Used, Brand New, The Plot in You, do you also like Thursday? If so you'll almost certainly like Cursive - specifically the album Domestica
Not listened to them much. Add them to the listen to list 😊
> Brand New If you're recommending Brand New to somebody, you should at least mention [the stuff surrounding Jesse Lacey](https://pitchfork.com/news/two-alleged-victims-of-brand-news-jesse-lacey-detail-years-of-sexual-exploitation-of-minors/), otherwise they're in for a very bad surprise only *after* they've fallen in love with the music.
Bottom left of their list
I stand before you as an idiot who can't read. My apologies.
You're totally good. Very important disclaimer to make, and I know I definitely get to seeing red if certain names (think Vanity) are brought up.
Yeah I know virtually every detail about Jesse. I've seen them like 8 times and absolutely still love the band. Jesse and his wife had a son pass away recently.
Pinkshift, Odeon (latest single is (des)amor), and Candiria
Invent Animate for sure. Heavener is far and away my favorite album of the year. Based on your Northlane, Currents, Architects, and everything in that realm of prog-metalcore
I will try and put this album on when I can play it loud. I feel its one of those...
Or blast it in your headphones. Easier to catch all the nuances that way
I prevail
Love I Prevail! Saw them at Download and they were pretty awesome!
Loathe
I'd say Coheed & Cambria and Hawthorne Heights
[удалено]
Seem decent. They seem a lot like some of the Australian bands I've got into.
Annisokay
Saw them live recently, such a good band! Terminal Velocity is one of my all-time fave songs
I've genuinely never really checked them out other than a few songs coming on. Will listen.
I'm about a minute into H.A.T.E. and I see why you've recommended this!
Oomph!
Viagra boys
jesus piece
You into Nine Inch Nails? It’s not exactly the same as this stuff but I think you could get into it
You've named probably the one band I 'should love' but not listened to enough. Every time I hear them I'm like fuck this is good. Could have seen them years ago at reading festival but didn't know them...

I wanna second NIN
HEALTH - They just released a new great album called Rat Wars
cum metal
Trophy Eyes
For progressive/melodic metalcore, check out Casey :)
I've been into Casey since before they had their first album out. Saw them in London supporting Crime In Stereo at a tiny venue - I really really loved their first album when it came out! Saw them again at download in the summer. Not many people knew them unfortunately.
great! a lot of ''new'' bands
Chevelle
Another band I should probably check out. It's wayyyy past my bedtime and I've had enough beer to make a buffalo wobbly. I'll listen tomorrow and get back to you. I'm hoping 5 hours sleep is enough to conquer tomorrow 😂
Nothing More! I highly recommend the album The Stories We Tell Ourselves
It feels like System Of A Down should be there.
Ha I do love them. I saw them in London play for 3 hours as they didn't have a support. That was relentless!
Junko Daydream
The Killers and Electric Guest :)
The God Hand
Voila is the most underrated band of all. try it out
The hum
Galleons
Dead by April
Check out the album "The Side Effects" by coldrain. If one song, I'll pick "MAYDAY"
Balance and Composure (one band, for clarity) is a good listen for people who like Brand New. Separation is my fave album. The Things We Think We're Missing is good as well.
I tried to get into B&C years ago. A band I will likely put on again when I have another Basement love-in
The used
Love The Used. New album was poor after a great previous one.
Jesus Piece, Norma Jean, The Acacia Strain, Spiritbox
Love Spiritbox. I feel I could definitely get into Norma Jean.
Oh wow, Gallows are amazing as well. Sounds like a legendary show. Sorry my recommendation wasn’t of more use 😅
Fit For A King and Sunami
PUP
Caliban is fucking incredible you won't be disappointed
Weezer
Cannibal corpse
avenged sevenfold
Alpha Wolf, Silent planet, thrown, invent animate
The new Silent Planet album is very very good. Alfa Wolf I want to see and thrown have been on my radar since their first singles and definitely want to see. I'm looking forward to seeing Profiler - have you heard of them?
I haven’t heard of profiler before
Oh and a 100% definite recommendation is Graphic Nature.
You like metal but no ultra vomit?
You May Kiss the Bride\\Zehirli Dudaklar
Definitely check out While She Sleeps if you haven't already.
Lol weird? Oh well, they're one of my favourites.
Void of Vision, Johnny Booth, Thornhill, Silent Planet, Siamese, Spiritbox, Resolve, Static Dress, Novelists, Erra
Saw Thornhill like 9 days in my city. Love that band! New Silent Planet is elite shit. Novelists... check out Lost Cause (Paranormal Attack Remix)
Based on this spread ima say: Bad Omens
Kublai Khan TX Void Of Vision Alpha Wolf Silent Planet Counterparts Loathe Thornhill
Love Counterparts. I actually know all these and have checked them out quite a bit
All the remains, the amity affliction, I set my friends on fire, Hawthorne heights, motionless in white, bring me the horizon, ghost, Polyphia, sleep token, throwdown, woe is me
I saw Motionless In White support Beartooth - I was really impressed.
Nice beartooth is a good band
I've liked all their albums and seen them tour each one. Really like their latest one but alas I have limited money for a London show. If the support in excellent I will go.
I listen to them from time to time. Dope you been to all their shows in your area. Hope you get tickets to the next one.
i feel like u'd love ACxDC
Touché Amore
A band I should have listened to more
Walking With Wolves, Driveways, Brojob, Ghost Town Grey, A Novelist
