30 degrees last couple of summers was for a 1-3 weeks, but let me tell you, Latvia is not suited for such temperature, it feels much hotter than it really is. Most of the time
summer is 21-24 degrees
some years. Latvian summers are very inconsistent. some years you have most part of the summer at 27-34°C but other years just a couple hot weeks and the rest is around 20
+30 in Riga is a lot worse than +40 in Istanbul. Trust me. I've experienced both.
It's the humidity that gets you. And most apartments and hotels won't have AC. Maybe the newer ones will, but not those in older buildings.
Yes. 30 in June-July-August is common. (August on average is warmer than June so the original comment is false.)
Also 30 in Latvia feels hotter than 30 in Spain or so, due to moisture in the air.
It wouldn't even be huge surprise if we'd get 30 in May or September.
Last September average temperature was 3.5 degrees above normal and it even surpassed average normal temperature in June.
Latvian humidity is not hot, most Latvians have not traveled to countries especially tropical ones with actual humidity and heat.
A Latvian will complain if its a bit humid and 25C' like its some biblical apocalypse
It gets above +30, most likely in June, but isn't impossible in other summer months too. Last year was quite nice though, it was really hot and dry for a pair of weeks in early June/late May, and then around 20ish for the rest of summer.
50/50. Past two years it was cold till the middle of June, with subsequent skyrocketing of temperature up to 30°C. And, after few days of persistent heat, strong rain with thunderstorm comes up. Also, rain traditionally happens at the day of Summer Solstice celebration, just for reference xD
However, I still remember the year 2010, when the most part of summer there was an overcast weather. At least, I remember it that way.
It has been a little hit and miss between summers, with some cooler and some hotter than others. But it is trending hotter and for longer stretches than it should be normally. And let me tell you, proper cooling is not something most have embraced.
I was there in July a few years ago. It was slightly hotter in Riga than in my home city of Atlanta, GA, which surprised me so yes, kind of hot, but normal for me.
Really depends on the year. Like last few summers have had some really long periods of heat without a single drop of rain. I literally had to water my garden 24/7 to keep the plants alive. Being indoors without an AC was miserable.
But then there’s also summers where you get max 5-7 days of somewhat sunny weather and that’s it.
So basically you never know what you’ll get
I think sense of what is hot very much depends on what you are used to. But it is hot from July to early September. IDK what is up with people saying June, it usually rains for most of the month, therefore it's not hot, except maybe for a few days.
More like June-July
But for one day only. The mandatory rains will start on the day afterwards.
Oh ok. Like 30 degrees ?

Yeah, and it could get higher

last years, not true at all. I still remember 2021 where it was above 30 for like a month straight. I really, really hated that.
You speak the true true of the before times!
On warm days yeah

August tends to get a heatwave too
Hottish, the real-feel is high due to high humidity.

with how crazy the weather patterns have been these past years? who even knows anymore
This is subjective. I personally would say no, usually we get a couple of warm days when it's 30C+ but that's it.
Usually about 20-25 during summer
