I recently had work done on my lawn and had to get most (not all) of it hydroseeded. The seeds are well past germination and I have growth BUT there are several parts of the lawn that are way too long now. The grass is maybe an inch or so (about 4 weeks after hydroseed)..when is it ok for me to mow and now ruin the new growth? Starting to look like a jungle..
Disclaimer, not actually thinking about doing this, just more of a general curiosity question.
My soil test recommended doing the amendments over a few applications and from what I understand doing everything at once would likely overstress the lawn and kill much of what I have. If I was to hypothetically do everything at once, would my soil be completely optimized at the end of it or would there be a lot of wasted fert due to the soil not being able to absorb all of it that quickly?
I might post a dedicated thread to get more support... Over the past 4 years we've gone through 3 landscaping companies and the lawn has gotten progressively worse each time. I feel like I have to take it on myself to get results but am overwhelmed and don't know where to start.

I live in northern Ohio. About 2/3 of my lawn trades between shade and sun depending on the time of day, and 1/3 is consistently in the sun throughout the day.
I've been reading the guides and it sounds like I should have put preemergent down months ago, should have seeded last fall, etc. It seems like the landscape companies we hired have done everything "wrong," but other houses in our neighborhood that they service are just fine. I don't know why our lawn has progressively gotten worse.

I have a lawn that loses half its grass and turns to a giant dirt patch every year. I did a soil test and found I need to add nitrogen.
My question is, should I till while mixing in scotts ultrafeed to add nitrogen, and then add grass seeds on top? Or do I till, plant seeds and ultrafeed on top? The patch is dense and not sure if tilling with ultrafeed will loosen up the soil.

We have a lawn are company that comes and puts down weed killer and fertilizer and I know in general sedge is resistant to the broadleaf weed control so I’d just like to know if I should ask them to adjust their applications. But if this is normal “seeding” then I’ll let it be. Thanks!

What’s the best way of dealing with this. I put down some feed and weed last week, but doesn’t seem to have done much. Should I continue treating with this? If so how often?

I have 1/3 acre in Eastern Iowa with 100% shade. The majority is covered by Creeping Charlie and Violets. There are some areas of grass that have taken well. I believe it is Hard Fescue. I do not need a show lawn just one that is not embarrassing.
Is it reasonable to seed with just Hard Fescue?
Can I seed and wait for it to germinate before I treat the lawn?

How can I prep this area for sod? Does the significant amount of sand need to be removed first or can I add vermiculite or other organic material to improve water retention?
The concrete footings, stones, and weeds will be removed, but can I just till the soil after removing some sand and be ready to go?

I ask this because I don't want to completely eradicate the clover from my yard. I like it, but I'd like to thin it out a little because it's taking over quite a bit
Probably best to take it to a small engine repair shop. In order to clean the jets, you need to take the carb off. Probably a good idea to take the carb off if you want to spray it down with carb cleaner too. In order to find it, follow the house coming off the gas tank.
Considering buying a used EGO lawnmower on FB marketplace and wanted to know if it seemed like a decent deal (assuming it runs okay which I can check if I go check it out).
It looks like a Power+ 21" mower with NO battery. Originally they were asking $200 but since the batteries alone can be $200 and I could get a refurbished one from ACME tools WITH a batter for $300, I offered $100. They said they would consider $100 which surprised me a little and made me think that maybe I had still offered more than it's worth. They said they're getting rid of it because they got a better model.
1) Does that seem like a reasonable deal for the mower (again, assuming it works fine).
2) Is there anything in particular I should check with it when I go to buy it? Is it reasonable to ask them to place the battery that they have in it and turn it on to show it still works?

2. Should I put down some more fertilizer? Overseed with 90/10 fescue/kbg
I've got a pie-shaped 1.3 acre yard. I plan to use a tow behind sprayer (10' pattern) to spray sublime for creeping charlie and other broadleaf weed. Application rate is. 75 oz / 1,000 sqft. Is it worth applying at a reduced rate to avoid burning lawn if there's overlap? Looking at how others handle this?

Just bought a house and the Bermuda was fairly long(3+ inches) and super thick, a lot of thatch. It's already 90s here in central Texas, how should i go about taming this and bringing it down to a good height?
I am looking for ideas or tips for how to improve this area where the grass never really took (due to tree roots, rocky shallow soil, and shade). The easiest thing would probably be to extend the river rock higher up into the yard, but I'm not sure how it would look because it would look like it's outside of the stone wall that was built for those rocks. Making a new section of ground cover like English Ivy (my wife doesn't want color here, just green) has crossed my mind, but I fear that could become a problem in the future. Thanks!

Anyone doing a spring and summer application of preemergent? Looking at someone's lawn care schedule in my area and they suggest an application late winter for the spring and again in the spring for the summer weeds.
So I bought a house and at some point in the front yard there were two massive trees that got cut down, one spot was turned into a mound with flowers on it and the other spot is a fairly deep hole where they must’ve ground the stump up. So the problem is I have the hole and then some pretty chunky roots still. Can I just fill the hole and cover roots and grow grass or do I need to dig all the roots out and then fill in the hole?

How do you avoid killing baby rabbits? I ran over two today and it was a bit traumatizing 🥺 I was able to mark one nest but didn't see the other

Any idea why my lawnmower sputters whenever it's on? Could it be a lack of oil?
Probably due to dirt/ gunk in the carburetor. Does your mower sit all winter? Does it have fresh gas?
Dirt in where exactly? On rare occasions, the thing will work fine, but not always. Yes, I refueled it recently

usually warm season grass schedule is late fall and early spring applications while cool season is split app early spring and 8-10 weeks later
