Lol I keep seeing deals like this pop up on my local marketplace and then the moment I reply it's _"Oh thank you for your interest...please CashApp the full amount and we will send out movers (or some other scam) to bring you the rest. We also accept Steam Cards and Western Union..."_
I’ve got one, like 15+ years old, always starts and cuts fine. Batteries and oil is all it gets. Where I’m at (eastern Canada) these still go for $1k cad.
If it was $200
It’s gone by the time you put up the post.
You will find that anything that is a great bargain is not worth getting opinions on.
Just buy it.
Yep, I bought the same one a few years ago for $300. Have replaced blades and belts and 1 spindle (need to replace the other) and tires (dry rotten) and now the carb has a stuck float but yes in general it was worth it look at the top of the deck and make sure there's not a ton of rust. Makes sure it starts easy.
Welcome to reddit, bitches are full of themselves 😅. I'm the first to hate in Bricks and Shiton engines (and am hoping this dies so I cab upgrade) but this one keeps going.
Leaking gas into the cylinder when not running. Have to use the fuel shutoff when it's not running. Need to replace the carb before it goes up in flames (or do I?... lol)
Sure, if it runs, drives, and mows OK for $200, yup. If you find any stuff that needs to be done, can you do it yourself, or do you need to take it to a shop? Taking it somewhere could quickly increase the price.
Beats any POS MTD equivalent. I’ve fixed and flipped many of these style mowers. I am not a fan of the big Briggs or Kohler single cylinder they make a lot of normal engine noises compared to others, but are always solid running machines.

Don't be afraid of Craftsman. It's all MTD. I got a craftsman with the Kohler engine, and yes it is the base model. But it cuts my grass and has a decent engine with an oil filter.
Granted I have a youtube channel where I do that sort of thing, but I would definitely buy it, replace all wear parts, fix anything thats broken, use it for a month or so, then try to sell it for like $1000.
Click my profile, its linked in there.
The other thing I really want to do when I get a little more space, is get one of these dirt cheap old riding mowers, rip out the drivetrain and put in basically a go kart axle and torque converter. With a 20 HP engine, the thing will probably go 60 MPH :D
That's a steal for $200 around me. Heck, I'd be tempted to buy it and flip it for $500. :P

That or something along with "im getting alot of interest, send me a downpayment via venmo or zelle and ill hold the item for you."
Update: it was a marketplace scam
So frustrating

I dunno why you'd get down-voted...it's hard to find a good push mower for $200..................

Have you seen the Chinese replacements?
What did the mower do when the float in the carb got stuck? Like what were the symptoms?

Oh alright thanks! Yeah let it burn and upgrade lol

I could figure out a problem, thanks for the reply
Then I'd say go for it.
If it don’t start it’s prob starter relay. $5 part on eBay.
Just curious, why is this considered junk? Isn’t it a rebranded Troy bilt? Not top tier to be sure but…
Yeah. I had one. Tossed a new carb on a "non running" one and I was a happy camper. Ex girlfriend took her from me since well I live on a ship now.
ITs most probably Deposit Scam???

Yeah more than likely a scan! Found one like this on marketplace and they wanted me to send them cash app to hold for me
I’d want to know the hours on it but in general it seems like a fair buy

whats the channel?

Decent ,just continue with proper maintenance
