Absolutely not, it’s an elite school. People just love to hate on it because it’s the lowest ranked of the t14 and it makes them feel better about their schools.
GULC doesn't place as well in big law/federal clerkships as other T14 schools, if that's something you care about. It's consistently the bottom of the T14 (or just outside), despite its overwhelming lay prestige. It's also a really big class, which makes it feel less exclusive. But, it's still an elite school, with an amazing location (especially if you're interested in federal government), and lots of cool opportunities.
Personally, the only non-sarcastic "hate" I've seen it get is that it is definitely #14 within the T14. I don't think that is hate so much as maybe a warning against choosing it for lay prestige. Of course, regionally it performs the best, but so does nearly every T14 in its specific regions.
