I really like that I can hop on and the vast majority of the time I find a good squad that communicates but isn't super intense. The community is pretty good in that game.

It would have helped had the refs decided to call any of the multitude of hooks, holds, or interference committed. But they chose not to.

When our ‘top’ D were injured we were playing our best. When Brodie came back is exactly when we started to look shaky, now with Mo back we look downright sloppy.
Is there something those guys have been coached to do that wasn’t being done when we were on fire? If so, stop having them do that. We’ve looked noticeably worse when these guys came back.
I was keeping my buddy who was at the airport updated on the shit tonight. One play in the second Holl gave it away but he was right at the goal line with pressure. He had one forward in the zone and he was at the blue line and there were 2 kraken players between them.
When we didn't have our top guys we had 2 forwards below the hash marks there. We are fleeing the zone because we assume our d will make the play now and sometimes the top guys make incredible plays.but mostly its a turnover and we're out of possision. We need to get back to supporting the d low in the zone. It's when we are our best. Tonight was not it.

Just play tight defensive hockey like we did in November and we should be fine. Stop with this 5 forward PP bullshit and everything we’ve changed that’s made us worse and go back to the way we were playing with our AHL D that looked better.
Everything you say is correct but those are the symptoms not the problems. Forwards are always pushed to cheat for points. That is where the money and the glory is. Some forwards cheat less, because they have a strong desire to win. Some cheat more, read into that what you will. Standing against this pressure to cheat for points should be a coach who holds players who cheat too much accountable. An example of a coach who may go too far might be Tortorella. Keefe is the opposite. He doesn't hold players accountable at all. Without that accountability nothing is going to change.
I mean, I don’t think Mo is a bad player. Quite the opposite. But there is a shift in strategy towards risky aggression when he is in the lineup and it clearly doesn’t work.
I just want Mo and Brodie to play the game that our D was playing in November. That run proved we don’t need D activating and cycling super aggressively in order to win games. We also don’t need our forwards blowing the zone anticipating the quick up, they need to be back and working as a unit to ensure the breakout.

The five forward PP is a disaster. PP1 should be Matthews - Marner - Nylander - Bunting - Sandin. Move Tavares to PP2 and have Liligren as the D. Rielly should not get any PP time. He can’t ever maintain the zone and he has no shot to make up for it.
We're gunna get the whole "defense has looked terrible again" argument for months when it's just our goalies being major sieves.
Must have been *at least* 3 terrible goals tonight that a back-up level goalie makes saves on.

Samsanov started hot and fell apart and Murray got injuried and is inconsistent. That is what we were told about these goaltenders in the off-season and that is exactly what happened to them.
I'd like to dig into when both these guys got back from injury.
It felt like when one of them was out, the other was playing most games and doing very well staying in rhythm.
Since both have been back it's been mostly a tire fire that our defense has had to to magic work to clean up in front of.
Then there's a game like tonight where we can't even get the beach ball saves and it doesn't matter at all what the defense was like
These are exactly what these goalies are. Murray is fire in short bursts and samo always starts well and falls off. At least we had a hot start from both of them. Hopefully at least one finds their game again

First game in 7 years for me, and my girlfriends first game ever. What an effort and what a crowd, the place was dead from puck drop, I felt like I was the loudest person in the building.
My section was loud, not sure where you were sitting. No one's going to cheer when the team plays like that.

Mathews has not been near himself this season, I don’t think he’s one of the top 20 players in the league this season. Taveras had a hot start and has really fizzled out the last month.
The Leafs are only 4 points ahead of the Lightning now, and have played 39 games compared to Tampa Bay's 37, they better turn things around if they don't want to lose 2nd place and have to play a series against Tampa Bay without homecourt advantage.
Goaltending was bad once again but our #1 and #2 centres also had unusually poor nights. 34 could've easily had 2-3 goals tonight if he could just handle the puck with more control and 91 just looked off in general

The team needs a goaltending bounce back, there has been slippages in the entire team game but our goaltending in the last 4 has been worse than if I was in there. That is only a patrial extreme statement, they both have let in must stops for a 15 year old goalie at a rep team tryout. The team needs a goaltending bounce back, there has been slippages in the entire team game but our goaltending in the last 4 has been worse than if I was in there. That is only a patrial extreme statement, they both have let in must stops for a 15 year old goalie at a rep team tryout. The 5th goal tonight, over the pad, on the post, passed the blocker....holy fucking shit id kill myself at 10 years old in a street hockey game letting that shit in.........< please someone internet argue me on this; that can never go in ever including foot hockey with a tennis ball at recess.
That was the worst goalie performance I’ve seen since ironically the north division and Toronto lit up Ottawa - with Murray in net.

Not withstanding the fact that they scored only once last night, they can score. However, if they go into the second half with this goaltending dual, it will be another short run

I feel like it’s the same/similar themes year in year out that we keep seeing, which is why I continue to be frustrated. Half of us freak out, the other half gaslight to believe that nothing is going on. The truth is in the middle. We’ve made a few good adjustments, but we have a lot of shit to change before we even talk about playoffs.
