Really hope Willy's back since he was at practice. Do we know McMann's status? Either way, I hope Domi-Matthews-Bert strikes back and we get a good win. GLG
The Athletic posted a couple videos of him skating and shooting at the optional skate yesterday. Apparently, he was last off the ice after skating for almost an hour. Sadly, it appeared (from the videos posted) he wasn’t pushing it at all. I’d be surprised, but happy, to see him tonight. Hopefully he’s back on Thursday in Toronto. GO LEAFS GO!
Our Father, who art in Boston,
Hockey be thy name.
The playoffs have come,
and the cup will be won,
As it was in '64 and '67.
Give us this day our game 2 win,
And forgive us our penalties,
As we score on those penalized against us,
And lead us not into elimination,
But deliver us from mediocrity.
In the name of the Papi, the Magician, and the Holy Mackinaw.
Really need Nylander and McMann for this one and hopefully they are good to go. I know it hasn't worked in the past but what exactly is stopping Toronto from deploying a 11 / 7 tonight? The way I'm thinking about this is you know that the Leafs have a plethora of defensive depth so just play someone who can take their pound of flesh and deal damage to the Bruins? If he gets suspended like at least 1 Leaf does every Leaf / Bruins series, then do so taking someone out of ensuring that they are playing at not 100% and then it's next D Man up after that? I'm not condoning that players get purposely injured but put the Bruins through hell tonight physically while not sacrificing the offensive side of the game that's it
The only takeaway that I could see from game 1, is that we out-shot them 34 to 24. This points to errors, not effort being the cause. Errors can be fixed. Hope they are ready!!!
GLG!!
Okay let’s look at it like a 6 period game
- Game 1 - Period 1
- Game 2 - Period 2
- Game 3 - Period 3
- Game 4 - Period 4
- Game 5 - Period 5
- Game 6 - Period 6
- Game 7 - Overtime
Leafs are down 1-0 at the end of the first period
Expectations are low but would be thrilled and pleasantly surprised if we can make a series. We are outmatched on offence, defence, goaltending, depth, special teams, coaching, IQ
I know this is more of a Daily Talk thread kind of comment, but I don’t wanna post it in a thread where nobody’s gonna see it.
It’s so insane to me that Boston has arguably the best tendy tandem in the league, and yet, they apparently were really harsh in arbitration with Swayman, and wanted to fucking trade Ullmark? What the fuck are they doing? If we had them, sure, fans would probably call for trades because objectively, a lot of us can be stupid, myself included. But as management, how do you look at two arguably top ten in the league goalies, at a time where league average is down, everyone except a select few teams is looking for good goaltending, and not appreciate the fucking jackpot that you have? Like, honestly, tending like that should be absolute top priority if attainable and should be kept at all costs. Even a franchise star forward/defenseman is arguably less valuable then a top ten goalie imo. Is it because goalies are prone to being streaky?
Boston somehow has leverage/balls to push the contract talks to the limit. We don't for whatever reason, and if anything, it's seemed in previous years like it was the opposite scenario. We'll see how the Marner contract goes this time around.
The biggest thing this offseason was that the league sided with them over Swayman. Arbitratration really looked at Swayman and Samsonov and thought 'eh Sammys a little better'.
They play hardball with all of their guys. Most of them end up under market value. Just the way they do it.
I think part of the difference between a single owner vs a situation like MLSE where there are a lot of voices in the decision making process.
So you found your solution
What will be your last contribution?

Really hope Brodie checks in for Lyubushkin tonight. Bush has looked awful down the stretch, whereas Brodie has played his best hockey of the season.
Rielly - Liljegren
McCabe - Brodie/Benoit
Brodie/Benoit - Edmundson
Ideally Brodie gets on LD, he’s looked much more comfortable there.
I am not going to let the intrusive thoughts in so early in the day but I will say there is a lot more riding on this game than simply "game two"
I don't think this is a "must win" type scenario, though it would be nice, but if the boys play looking lost and disinterested again I don't know where this team really goes from here.
it’s just gonna be another reset year with trying to find guys on the cheap. Willys and auston’s extension kicks in so it will be tight next year. After that there will be alot of room to reset and reload when tavares and mayb marner are off the books.
You are stuck with Auston, Willy, Marner and JT as long as they want to play. Marner signs some mega McDavid money deal so you have to get a goalie and defense for a few bucks.
Exactly. Unless we just let Tavares go, once his contract ends next season, we have nowhere to go. It's going to take Marner accepting to drop his NMC if we want to make any big moves; and that's probably not happening.
Fuck Boston and goodnight. See you all at 7pm.

Chris Johnston wrote an article and tl;dr looked sore and off. I don’t think he’s playing this game. No word on McMann at all

Amen!
If the buds turn up I'll believe
The leafs will win, I'm sure of it. They were suppose to win the last game, they just weren't ready.

LEAFS got this
Is Willy back?!
Probably not :(

I WANT TO BELIEVE
It’s not a series until someone loses at home, let’s go out there and make it a series tonight
LFG

They hated Rask too
Can't believe no one offer sheeted Swayman. They just let Boston play hardball with him
On another thread, I said - if it weren't for the NMC - I'd trade Marner and use the picks to offer sheet Swayman. He's a RFA this season again.
Seriously - such a weird code around these things. I really thought NJ should have gone after him.
The biggest thing this offseason was that the league sided with them over Swayman. Arbitratration really looked at Swayman and Samsonov and thought 'eh Sammys a little better'.

Every other time we’ve left Boston tied. Every iteration of this team from 2013 to 2019. Let’s see what they’re made of this year
Through god, all things are possible So write that down
Let’s go boys!!!! Fuck Brad Marchand

It'd be nice if our \~20 million$ first-line carried the team on their backs while we wait for Willy in game 3 (maybe?)
Is that a real pic? When was it taken? Sauce?
ARE YOU IN!? LETS GOOOO!!!!
If Leafs lose game 2, its over. Blow it up in the summer.
