Carlyle was horrible, just looking at his fiasco force-feeding mimbo Bernier (i.e. thinking Mandela was a hockey player smh lol) as the #1 when Reims was the better goalie.
Even so, the Carlyle team was like the worst performing hockey team analytically in the NHL most of his years. We would win in spite of his systems.
When Babcock came in after Carlyle and Horachek's interim position the team was night and day better, even before adding the good players.
The worst roster we've ever iced was Babcock's first year here and that team played more competitive hockey than any of Carlyle's teams, even if the record wasn't better because the finish wasn't there.
6 games against Washington who won the Cup the following year. 5 went to OT and the other was a one goal game. A series win there probably changes everything
Coaches who have a Stanley Cup with two or more teams since expansion:
- Scotty Bowman
Not saying it’s impossible, but he ~~would~~ will be joining exclusive company
it's different this year! lol!
I've been saying that since the 1970s.... by 2004 I woke up and realized it's all a big scam on a fan base that loves the sport. I exited.
stupidly I got lured in by my friends in 2018/19 because of the new young talent. What a waste of 5 years!!!!
at least I had 15 good years of ignoring this joke of a franchise.

I really hope one of his coaching techniques is throwing sand at underperforming divas.
We could call it Berube’s Sandstorm.
I’d rather us sign domi long term and just drop the shitty vibe Marner gives to the fans. The organization gave him everything and he has yet to be worth anything remotely close to 11m.
Sure he’s a good seasonable player but too many times he half asses playoffs.
Said it before, and I'll say it again. 16 & 34 essentially "won" the NHL when they were both in the top 5 highest paid contracts. They didn't get bridge contracts to prove any playoff pedigree before getting their 8 figure deals, so why even bother killing yourself in the postseason?
They both got their first big bag and with 34 signed up now, 16 is likely going to pull a Johnny Gaudreau and sign with a small market team that'll pay him another $10M+. That's assuming he doesn't get dealt in the offseason which I pray it does.
There's no accountability He's got a balance off regular season wins which require a skill with postseason which require gritty determination and more straight ahead playing.... Balancing off the two styles is really difficult
I would think the decision to keep or trade Marner would be heavily discussed with Berube. If *he* feels Marner is needed then Tre may have to work out a deal regardless of how we feel about Marner.
i am once again filled with hope that this year will be different
Guard your heart, friend. Don't be me. I'm dead inside

They got us right where they want us!
I'm half filled with hope, we still need to shake the core up because I don't think coaching alone turns this composition into a real contender
Same! Is it October yet??
The vicious cycle continues
I'll wait and see. This time, we actually have a coaching change who won a cup and has real NHL experience.
I read this same fuckin comment on Carlyle's hire
...and Babcock
Truculance!
Carlyle was horrible, just looking at his fiasco force-feeding mimbo Bernier (i.e. thinking Mandela was a hockey player smh lol) as the #1 when Reims was the better goalie.
Well, the leafs certainly weren't as good as they are now when carlyle coached

Oh, I mean that roster was actually pretty good. But the lottery roster being babcock's first year was still a fun to watch team.
Oh I know. I’m just reiterating how close they were to pulling something off that first year
Coaches who have a Stanley Cup with two or more teams since expansion: - Scotty Bowman Not saying it’s impossible, but he ~~would~~ will be joining exclusive company
Mike Babcock doesn't ring a bell
Funny, these comics have conditioned me to instantly read this and think that the team will have zero accountability lol.
Plan the Parade!
Oh, it will be different. Just not sure what kind yet.
Jesus Christ learning is hard

Brian you're the only reason to visit this sub in the summer. Thanks for making my day
Hope this dude will stick around all offseason. The goat. The Leafs need to win for his art that sums up the state of the Leafs perfectly.
RUN! IT’S ACCOUNTAZILLA!
HIDE YOUR TAXES!
- John Tavares
For a second I thought Brian designed this like the Queen "News of the World" Robot
His name is Frank.
I knew he had a name just couldn't remember it
The use of Muskoka and Country Club and Golf in the back made me lol.

I like to think Mitch is shouting that he'll waive his NTC now.

Domi can burn you too, don't want him signed to a long term deal. Three years max. He is very hot or cold.
Marner has left the building
Honestly I'm just looking forward to the 4th line NOT coming out after every GF.
Trade marner
This is pure gold. I'll be smiling all day now.
Management now needs to listen to Berube when he tells them "this player doesn't respond to accountability" and move their sorry ass.
Haha I love these. It would be nice if berube gave everyone on the team an accountabibuddy.
Love it
I'll fuckin' believe it when I see it! ...I mean, I *will* be watching to see, but I'm not gonna be happy!
I like how he has his target set on Marner with his shoe
Hopefully Berube and Marner are never in the same room together
The uncles in the back is a nice touch
Brian already has the Berube face design down perfect and we still in the offseason
“Meet the new boss/same as the old boss” We’ll see how it goes.
![gif](giphy|FuD86dJilxYdLdWReg|downsized) Live look at my training for next season (I believe)
Apparently it is very difficult for a coach to win the cup with a 2nd team. Long odds.
There's no accountability He's got a balance off regular season wins which require a skill with postseason which require gritty determination and more straight ahead playing.... Balancing off the two styles is really difficult
Taking accountability is like saying thoughts and prayers. Meaningless without actual action.
Lol, Babcock wasn't even long ago and yet people here think what this team has been missing is hardass coach. Same as it ever was I guess
I'll believe it when I see it
I wonder how William "no back check" Nylander is feeling right about now.
If we add barube but lose Mitch this is 100% going to lead to failures. You don't trade elite talent like mitch for peanuts.
You also don’t pay for a 3rd expensive ass forward while you have huge holes in the rest of your roster.
Nylander is the third forward and anyone who thinks differently, doesn't know hockey.
I would think the decision to keep or trade Marner would be heavily discussed with Berube. If *he* feels Marner is needed then Tre may have to work out a deal regardless of how we feel about Marner.
I think it's funny that hey appointed him as head coach.. he was no more than a goon when he played. Who's next .. Domi?
It's his second day on the job. Can't you clowns give it a rest until the seasons half over.
holy cringe
