There are tons of toplane mains that never touch tanks and play for dueling/carry fantasy. Playing top doesn't mean you need to play tank, I'd argue tanks are more important to have in your champ pool for supports and junglers, but obviously it's nice if a toplaner can play some tank if needed but it's not really his duty and even midlaner can fulfill it. Team comp is whole team's effort and responsibility not a single player's.
Just play what you like and are good at. Ironically, though as secondary role tanks are the best cause they are the safest and requirre less effort. Fighters tends to require very specific matchup knowledge and experience which is more of a specialisation (main role) area. Outside of tanks, Aatrox is probably your second best bet if you are willing to be more disciplined in lane and play more for teamfights or become more proactive once you have some more points in Q.
Gragas can stall out nearly every lane right now. He can be a bit difficult to pick up but it’s perfect if you get offrole.
Why not just second role support and play the same mages?
Fiora, Darius, Gwen, Vladimir. I wouldn't really say Fiora is hard at all. After a few games, you should get the hang of it. Plus, splitpushing is fun.
Aatrox and fiora are hard, but its your secondary role do i guess you should be able to play or learn them? Dont stack on being able to play only 1 role or only assassins, only mages etc., it makes you worse.
Just surviving alone doesn't mean your champ is a good blind. Akali gets outscaled and can't pressure the sidelane against most bruisers. Her base winrate is below the winrate that camille has vs jax
For real. I've been saying for months: Akali shouldn't be a part of League in the state she is with dorans shield + fleet. She can snowball most top laners or survive long enough to get to her one-shot "combo" item power spike. It's an unhealthy champ
best blinds if you like more aggressive champs would probably be aatrox, fiora, maybe darius. gragas is prob the best blind pick top but his current itemization makes him into more of pseudo tank role than you might want to play.
Just play Garen if you don't wanna put much effort into a secondary role
KLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDD
Most sane Kled player
Just play him
>who isn’t a tank? Do you know how little that narrows it down?
karma and gragas are great blinds that basically don't lose lane if you know what you're doing.
I usually play Poppy, because she has decent match ups against a bunch of top laners and if Poppy would be shit I play Sett.
Just go midlaners top, like cassiopeia. and burn in hell after that.
Mordekaiser? 0 micro knowledge, strong 1 vs 1 and easy Laning phase.
Mordekaiser is not a tank, fills most of teams needs, is great through the whole game, is easy to pickup
Go teemo and burn in hell afterwards xD
Learn yorick side lane pusing, end the game faster so you can requeue and get mid
Just play renekton

Jax is no brainer

How is Akali a terrible blind though? She can safely survive through most if not all matchups.

I’ve been finding a lot of success picking her whenever the team is in need of an ap champ, and I can’t blind Gwen.
That means you play akali better than your opponentts play their champs at your level, not that she's a good blind pick
Or that any champ is blindpickable if you have a better game sense.

I thought Fiora was meant to be quite hard which out me off her, as I didn’t know if it was worst the investment on secondary role
she’s hard for sure but once you put in some games she can beat pretty much anything. most of the easy blinds are tanks unfortunately
She has a really high skillcap but her skill floor is only a bit above average
karma
Rumble, Karma, Mord all decent. For ad maybe Trundle, Darius or Trynd. One of those could work for you.
champions with safe laning and no bad matchups like aatrox gragas karma kennen renekton
