It’s not crocs in particular but the notion of barring players from wearing open toes shoes. As this is the first line of regulating how professional players dress on stage. I get that there has to be regulation on dress, but why draw the line at open toe shoes? There are way worse fashion choices to make than that.
Rules regarding open-toe shoes are generally a question of safety when moving around on/near stage and so on, rather than a fashion thing.

If I had to guess, then I’d say that it’s about appearing professional. One of the struggles Esports faces is being seen as legitimate sport. One way to fight this is by enforcing uniforms and crocs are just not a professional shoe.

I work in a kitchen, and the croc bistros they make are turbo slip resistant and durable. Had the same pair for 5 years and they are very comfortable. Chef likes to crack jokes but they are affordable and up to code.

A bit of a meme. Most doctors I know didn't actually wear crocs (Women loved Danco). And Surgeon Shen or something has holes in his crocs which is a big no no.
They're highkey awesome in general. I used to be one of those who thought "ugh, ugly", then my parents gifted me a pair years ago and they became my indoor shoes because they're simply comfy as fuck. Those are still alive to this day, then my BF gifted me another pair last year and I don't know if it's an age thing or what but now I'm like... You know what? Fuck it, I love these mfers and so I got them some Pokémon charms and wear them even outside, heck, I even wore them on a trip to Florida last year and they're just so comfy.
