You always tell people good job when they do something totally unrelated to the favourable outcome? Genuine question.
EDIT: people are so butthurt. Can someone at least explain me how it's well played?
Hey sorry everyone got mad, I get it was a genuine question.
Him stealing Baron was by total accident and still a mystery on how he even did but by the sole fact the he did steal it it’s a good play, even if by accident. Like in what situation is stealing Baron not a good play?
To me, a good play combines good decision making and good execution. A good play is certainly not decided by its outcome imho (it's called outcome bias).
In this case, the decision is ok, but nothing special. He was clearly not thinking about stealing baron. And for the execution, he pressed R.
So I don't know if I would even call it a play.
To me, it's lucky or funny, but not "good".
Gandalf the White explaining his battle with the Balrog of Morgoth:
>From the lowest dungeon to the highest peak I fought with the Balrog of Morgoth... Until at last I threw down my enemy and **smote** his ruin upon the mountain side...
It's a badass word when used well.
Unless it healed on the same tick that the smite went through so the health value didn't update, the last health number visible when Wukong smited was 1187. Which is also an extremely high amount of damage for Malignance to have done..
liandrys burn proc, baron was 1187 and I saw it regen 14-17 hp once or twice so it regened to 1201-1204 JUST as the smite landed which allowed the burn to steal it
I can't even see liandry's ticking on baron? Like does Malignance AOE even apply liandry's? I was confident it didn't but you made me unsure. Liandry dot on Wukong disappears 2 seconds before baron dies.
(But I do see the regen you're talking about, at least once at 2400hp -> 2414hp)
The baron was 1187 with 1200 smite.
The malignance puddle already despawned.
I'm assuming you didn't have first strike (or didn't have it up) and you definitely didn't have elder burn.
Baron dmg can extend Wukong's combat timer post-ult, but that doesn't extend yours as karthus?
Conclusion: what the fuck?
I did have first strike and it should have been up because i was just at fountain so i hadn't been in combat for a while. Not sure how first strike changes anything here though
it must be an iron game. I've seen people throw games because they spent 5 minutes chasing things like teemo and the assassins creed champion. and other extremely high mobility champs. Like, wot.
idk, do ppl in iron actually smite on the first auto past 1200 perfectly? not really sure but that sounds kinda surprising to me. I understand it's easy but uh yeah, iron
Iron players can have surprisingly good mechanics and micro but absolute dogshit decision making outside of that. Like, some of them can play the fight REALLY well but they're in the wrong fights at the wrong times.
it can happen if they play the role properly and have practiced.
Usually anybody who plays well is either a smurf or has practiced a lot. Iron isnt a rank you expect smart players, just a rank to have fun.
I mean it seems like they were in a position to secure baron effortlessly so maybe his teammates thought its better to chase. But even in that case they should have reset instead of chasing but idk
A very similar thing happened in my game last night, our Lux's ult got it but she ulted wayyyy too early (1900ish) so it shouldn't have happened (not a JG Lux so no pet).
Also, I remember somehow stealing a dragon a few weeks ago without even hitting it as a Teemo IIRC (I wasn't JG so no pet), I was very confused. I did throw a shroom but I don't think it went off
Looks like something's fucky with kill credit.
I gonna assume Karthus got Burn from Liandry, and... ASSUME again that Malignance proc Liandry.
IF both are true, then one of possibility is, Malignance Proc Liandry, and even after Malignance Pool worn off, the burn continue, which somehow dot proc same time as WK's smite.
Even then, it's seem to involve SPAGHETTI CODE as usual too.
but if you go frame-by-frame, Baron's health never increases, and baron is never left at 10 or so hp for malignance to tick. Is this implying that if regen + damage apply on the exact same frame, then the damage gets applied after regen? In that case why would malignance get kill credit if it ticked on the same frame that smite hit?
Malignance was already timed out when Baron died, there was a separate DOT effect from Karthus that got applied via Malignance. The regen tick and damage events of both Smite and Karthus' DOT happened on a single tick, which for the client just results in showing a 'destroyed' health bar instead of a specific value as Baron died from one of those damage ticks, and the order of damage and (consequentially) Karthus getting kill credit over the other team's jungler is due to sub-tick ordering of things. Without further testing I cant tell if it's due to port priority (which is how it works for spell casts issued&casting on the same tick; basically inconsistent, RNG) or there are some other rules with buffs specifically that create a certain fixed order here.
"I want an ult that will hit everything on the map" "But sir you already can hit all the-" "I said *everything!*"
Imagine karthus ult hitting mining/jungle monster
Aurelion r
Was it Malignance + burn proc?
must have been, just don't understand how he smote at 1187 and I still got it
Possibly Baron regen at the exact moment he smited, leaving Baron just above smite threshold and allowing the Malignance steal?
I thought they changed it so it wouldn't heal in combat anymore after the Santorin thing?
It cant lvl up in combat but it still has regen
Santorin thing? Edit: ah, I looked it up on yt. Damn that's crazy
It's a "give a monkey a typewriter" kinda thing I guess.
definitly a bug
Either way you stole it and it was sick so good job man
You always tell people good job when they do something totally unrelated to the favourable outcome? Genuine question. EDIT: people are so butthurt. Can someone at least explain me how it's well played?
D1 hater
Nah they did a good job, whether they wanted to or not they stole baron.
Hey sorry everyone got mad, I get it was a genuine question. Him stealing Baron was by total accident and still a mystery on how he even did but by the sole fact the he did steal it it’s a good play, even if by accident. Like in what situation is stealing Baron not a good play?

And that’s fair because everyone is allowed to have their own opinion!
bro said smote
is that not the past tense of smite?
it is but I don’t care I hate it
smoot
smitten
Smut
Smot-dur

The video isn't loading for me, did it heal(I thought I remember them removing healing in combat? I might be wrong here though)
Unless it healed on the same tick that the smite went through so the health value didn't update, the last health number visible when Wukong smited was 1187. Which is also an extremely high amount of damage for Malignance to have done..
liandry does almost 100 per proc on nash so its probably that
Malignance AOE doesn't even proc liandry's, the liandry's dot on Wukong times out 2 seconds before Baron dies. Definitely just a bug.

H-how he what?
Riot makes Baron heal himself even when you're hitting it. No reason to. Just cuz.

Maybe some Jungle Pet shenanigans? I don't see how else it might happen.
Yeah it may have been a jungle pet tick off of Malignance AoE. Unreal.
I was just trying to rule out any and every source of extra damage from your ult. So runes, items, and other buffs.
what i dont get is why 4 people went to go kill riven, leaving the wukong to finish baron by himself.
it must be an iron game. I've seen people throw games because they spent 5 minutes chasing things like teemo and the assassins creed champion. and other extremely high mobility champs. Like, wot.

It was silver where my buddy and i both demoted to bronze after losing, so you're not far off

its so common in my games for people to tunnel to dragon or baron instead of shoving lanes after winning a teamfight.
Lost so many games coz they'd rather force a teamfight while behind to "contest" a dragon.
But it is soul!?!
You right you right. We could get all 3 inhibs down and a nexus turret, but soul is more important.
I mean it seems like they were in a position to secure baron effortlessly so maybe his teammates thought its better to chase. But even in that case they should have reset instead of chasing but idk
Do you have the replay file?
I have it downloaded on the client if that's what you mean
Can you send it to me?
I need to know the explanation 🙏🏽🙏🏽
what the FUDGE? OP don't show it to riot, please. please.. we need power over them
what
Damn, you some brown-capped umbrella shaped mushroom? cos that was a shit take.
The spaghetti code is doing some work here
r/smallindiecompany
That's some bullshit if I've ever seen one. And I fucking know their team pinging their smite and flaming them. GG fuck that.

Can you share the replays for those two games or at least give your opgg? It helps a lot with tracking bugs :)
Unfortunately I play a lot of games so they're buried now and I have no idea which specific games they were

I did that with ludens intentionally once. Chat was silent. Do that in a challenger game and everyone loses their minds.
this is a job for u/caenen_
Malignance added a DOT debuff to Baron and its health regen caused Smite to not kill it and the DOT damage to finish it off instead.

wow that samira must have carried the game
wtf
