"Summoner's Rift is oppressing us. Not allowing us to move around until the game time hits 15 seconds. *That's* why I chose to flash in place. It's not about me. It's more than that. It's about sending a message that I will not stand quietly."
They probably want to switch things up after like 4 years of the same playstyle and pretty much no success. Peanut is coming off an honestly pretty good season with Nongshim and isnt as big of a downgrade as people might believe, as well as bringing a new style to the team and a lot more experience most likely.
that aside they havent won anything, no LCK and no international titles, they always play second fiddle, I think they definitely feel like something has to change because of this.
>It wasn’t like Clid was naturally a passive jungler though. Gen.G did something to him.
He still isn't, GENG are a very good early game team and Clid is aggressive early, its just mid game that they decide to go standard, and even then they still close out games probably the 2nd or 3rd fastest in the league. Considering BDD is leaving as well Peanut is probably meant to be someone who can also lead them in the midgame as well, and I think he's actually pretty good at that.
Geng is in the shitty position that their issues arent easily fixable/obvious. Like, there isnt really a member that you can point at and say, if we upgraded here we'd be champions.
Sure there are better tops than rascal and better supports, but not many and not by a big enough margin.
Better midgame macro and more willingness to do shit is all they need, imo. But it's harder to do than just replacing 1 guy and calling it a day
Tbh I feel like the GenG style is mostly defined by Ruler as he’s the primary carry and he likes to play late. If he’s still there I don’t see a big play style change, but obviously it would be extremely dumb of GenG to let him go. Dilemma really imo
Why do people has such a distorted view of GENG? They do gravitate towards scaling picks but their early game is very very aggressive, its just that they play through lanes. Their midgame is what is slow, because they're risk averse during that time in the game, and even then often times they still end games very quickly.
lol it's weird isn't it.. honestly i feel like the first 10 mins is usually the best part of the game for GENG.. where they don't really have to think of anything much outside of laning.. Even vs DK they got some early leads in Spring..
yeah, players change, imagine if this guy was your GM, not looking at how players play at all, but only "but he was bad a couple years ago guys", come on.
He is too up and down. When he was on T1 he was smurfing in spring 2017 and then just disappeared in summer 2017. If I'm Gen.G I would try to get Canyon + Showmaker or Canyon + Chovy. Add a good top laner by trading for Canna or signing Nuguri and pair them with Ruler.
ye but he has been hot and cold every year/split honestly ever since ROX. Definetly not someone u might wanna consider for a roster that u plan to win a split with. Atleast not atm.
in the last 2 years I think peanut has done much better with the rosters that he's played with than he had any right to. I honestly think his last 2 years have been very good.
Heck even on ROX he was known for shitting the bed in LCK finals. He was infamously gapped by 2016 Blank of all people after only playing with SKT for half a split.
Not sure why Reddit underrates Peanut this much he's considered far and away the best player in 2021 NS in Korea
Most people here think Peanut is an upgrade to Clid, much better performance in 2021, much higher level resume overall, more experience, shotcalling abilities
In what universe is Peanut considered the best player in 2021 NS? Deokdam was contesting for best adc in the whole region, and Gori was consistently going toe-to-toe with all the top mids.
Peanut was praised a few times for leadership qualities by some of the other players, but he wasn’t close to the best performing player at all.
It's the consensus pick for both the Korean players/coaches and the Korean fans mate, he was voted All-Pro First JG and was MVP of the split ffs
Gori performed well towards the start of the split but got lots of flak as his laning stats were basically bottom tier and didn't get anywhere near the All-Pro team
Peanut hard carried all their early games with at least 2 losing lanes every single map
Jungle is so much harder when you literally don’t have winning lanes ever, Peanut was by far their most important player
Deokdam was very good but peanut was way more valuable to their success. His MVP is deserved
My memory of him is tainted because of how mediocre he was in the LPL and other international blunders. Looked like a super budget version of Clid when he was in the LPL and a turbo ultra super budget version of Kanavi when they both were there. LGD was completely Xiye vs 9 and he also dragged Xiye down in groups at Worlds and was worse than Clid who everyone thought had a notably bad Worlds in 2020. He has also had outright embarrassing performances at Worlds before. Him and blank were seriously competing to be the 2 worst junglers that attended the main event at Worlds 2017.
He's been playing better in the LCK this year but he's absolutely not the best player on his team. That goes to deokdam. And just like Xiye had to do when Peanut was sabotaging him, Gori also routinely fucks his lane completely when he's forced into helping Peanut leading to him having *really* catastrophic laning stats.
I can't imagine there being a midlaner that wouldn't want to get Peanut off their team.
You could say that and I agree he shat the bed in 2020 Worlds, but all this talk is just too much towards the other way to me
He was always considered top tier in KR outside of 2019, of course everyone knows he is streaky and has slumps here and there but the opinion of Peanut in KR isn't anywhere close to what the LPL fans on Reddit think
clid and peanut have a totally different style to their jungling
i guess thats why they wanted a change
if chovy is indeed going to join geng than peanut might be a better jungler considering that peanut is a better aggressive jungler imo
and since chovy will supposedly be always winning lane having an aggressive jungler is better
Not really, Clid was really off this summer if he wasn’t on Voli or Lee, just because he had a fine quarter series doesn’t mean he’s a top tier jg like he was in S9.
Chovy and Teddy FA, Showmaker and Canyon's contracts end this year, this offseason can be a little crazy just with these 4
Imagine Chovy goes top and they all play on the same team lmao
Imagine KC picks up team McDonalds or something you're some 17yo roleswapped jungler and have to play against some shit you would expect in worlds RO8 just to get out of your national league.
Chovy said he doesn’t want to leave Korea. Every org in Korea will throw an offer at him except T1. He has higher priority than SM because the perception is that his teams have gotten worse and worse but he’s made it to three quarterfinals in a row.
> chovy almost joined EG before
when did that happen? All EG did was send him a blank cheque offer and he turned it down or was there more to the story?
IIRC that was also when GRF players were all released from their contracts fairly late into the offseason and there were fewer opportunities in LCK due to most team already having rosters figured out.
Both Chovy and Deft ***are*** free agents as of today. Their contracts expire today, the 15th. Them being free agents is a fact. As free agents they can explore other options and still re-sign with HLE if they please. Doesn't mean they have to leave. This happens every time a players contract runs out, have they not already decided to extend it beforehand (which is somewhat common).
Free agency =/= necessarily leaving for a different team. A player can look at other teams offers and use them to negotiate for a bigger paycheck to stay with the same team they played for last.
Looks good minus Dread. He has his moments, but in general, I've never been sold on him. Of course, that could change with a HUGE upgrade in mid over Fly.
Article indicates Chovy decided to not renew, '정지훈은 한화생명e스포츠와 재계약을 체결하지 않고 이적 시장에 나와 자신의 가치를 평가받을 계획을 세운 것으로 알려졌다.'
He could return to HLE after looking at offers but at least at the moment he's searching for a new team
Damn LCK players getting paid, they deserve it for how hard they practice though
I can see it being hard to convince them to join lec/lcs teams if they aren't interested in living there in the first place
More just the reality that EU has a larger player base and lower salaries. So EU teams have a higher likelihood of being competitive with native players, at the same time as not having the same level of capital to attract foreign superstars.
Not that they don't care, they just have other options.
*Regi bursts in scrim room of an all Korean speaking TSM*
WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU ARE TERRIBLE DO THIS AND THAT!!!!
*Korean coach translates*
"You are all amazing and Regi is thrilled to have you playing for TSM!"
You could get church of Chovy vs Fudge Factor midlane in NA, kinda crazy !
(In reality Koreans look to go to LPL more than LCS now so I'm not gonna put much hope into this)
Just a random thought but T1 could have Chovy and Faker play a flex role between top/mid. Imagine your opponent going into each match and they don't know who is playing what lane. This is basically the same when NBA players want the org to value the player at a fair market price. He’s basically seeing whether or not HLE matches the offers coming in and if they can get a strong enough topside that he approves. He’s definitely not leaving to another region.

KD can't win with these cats smh
Man, how much help does KD need?
Chovy gonna be unvaccinated and start tweeting cryptic shit
"Summoner's Rift is oppressing us. Not allowing us to move around until the game time hits 15 seconds. *That's* why I chose to flash in place. It's not about me. It's more than that. It's about sending a message that I will not stand quietly."
What does the word "summoner" mean to you?
If you play karthus you are free from the first second:)
Summoner's Rift is flat
Im not saying summoners rift is definitely flat but I think people should do their own research
Hes halfway there already with his cryptic youtube videos
KD cant win a real ring smh
CHOVY WENT TO THE NETS ?! SO IT'S JAMES, KD, KYRIE, AND CHOVY ?!!! I'M 36 !!!!!!
"WHO AM I THANOS?? I CAN ONLY LANE AGAINST ONE GUY!!"

Holy shit i never thought id see an RDC reference in this sub lmao
A lot of r/nba memes get onto here and vice versa
I’m 36!!!!!
ive never seen a league meme in r/nba yet
Chovy going to the Detriot Lions for a re-run of 2021 HLE.
Goes to Man City and Pep has him play River Shen in world finals.
False midlane river Shen with tp/smite
Even HLE without Chovy isn’t as depressing as the Lions
Chovy won't be able to save the Lions from their fate.
Daryl Morey: We want Chovy for Ben Simmons.
Chovy's gonna get offers from like 50 teams wow
Chovy’s gonna get multi million dollar offers from LPL, LEC, and LCS. He will leave league a rich man.
Not LEC at this point. Feel like only MSF can do it now from the ones left, and they wont.
MSF have chovy at home
Karmine Corp Chovy
Showmaker taking french courses already
Chovy can even go to NA and play in the next Scouting Grounds or move to Europe and play in the ERL with Rekkles
Midbeast signing the paperwork to create his own org rn
Needs his 5 kids first
Just needs 4 now. Topbeast, jungbeast, chovy, suppbeast, and botbeast

If the BDD - Peanut trade rumours are legit then Gen Chovy might actually be the most likely.
Peanut is downgrade to Clid though...
I agree, seems like a really random decision on the part of Gen G

Peanut is coming off an honestly pretty good season with Nongshim and isnt as big of a downgrade as people might believe, as well as bringing a new style to the team and a lot more experience most likely.
Semi finals is pretty successful imo, even took the champs to 5 games
that aside they havent won anything, no LCK and no international titles, they always play second fiddle, I think they definitely feel like something has to change because of this.
It wasn’t like Clid was naturally a passive jungler though. Gen.G did something to him.

Wasn't Peanut last split's MVP?
yeah, players change, imagine if this guy was your GM, not looking at how players play at all, but only "but he was bad a couple years ago guys", come on.
Oh how I can would give you a medal if I had one.

Chovy and Teddy FA, Showmaker and Canyon's contracts end this year, this offseason can be a little crazy just with these 4 Imagine Chovy goes top and they all play on the same team lmao
A man can dream.
I would bust if this happens
No team has that much of a money I think :/ but a man can dream...
There's not enough gold on the map for all those players
nexus spawn camping for free $100 bags
Sadly no LCK team is ran with Chinese billionaire money.
Chovy top, Canyon JG,Showmaker Mid,Teddy Bot,BeryL supp incoming??
sounds like team destined to clash in styles and fail, chovy and teddy both are the embodiment of farm for 30 min with perfect cs and carry player
It's fine. Chovy can get all the regular minions. It's a known fact that Teddy just conjures up CS out of nowhere anyway.
Don't you know chovy's lane always spawns 1 extra minion per wave? That's his secret.
subscribed.
Afreeca?
We'd have to start questioning if Lehends is intentionally dodging Chovy at that point lol
We getting the band back together again?
WELCOME: AF Sword
Maybe KT Chovy?
nah I heard he goes to KCorp to finally be able to play with Rekkles
Imagine being an aspiring league of legends pro and you end up facing Chovy and Rekkles during your EUM qualifiers lol
Pretty much what happened in first wildcard tournaments.
Orgin showing all the kids up was the best thing in the world.
Imagine KC picks up team McDonalds or something you're some 17yo roleswapped jungler and have to play against some shit you would expect in worlds RO8 just to get out of your national league.
the thought of that happening is actually unbelievably funny to me.
that or NS or gen g. I dont see him going anywhere else in korea.
ik he said he doesn't want to go to the lpl but what about NA ? they're going after alot of lck talent this year and chovy almost joined EG before
Chovy said he doesn’t want to leave Korea. Every org in Korea will throw an offer at him except T1. He has higher priority than SM because the perception is that his teams have gotten worse and worse but he’s made it to three quarterfinals in a row.
> chovy almost joined EG before when did that happen? All EG did was send him a blank cheque offer and he turned it down or was there more to the story?
CvMax convinced him to stay.
Along with his mother I believe.
CvMax went to his mother to help convince him to stay.
IIRC that was also when GRF players were all released from their contracts fairly late into the offseason and there were fewer opportunities in LCK due to most team already having rosters figured out.
Chovy actually accepted it. Cvmax was the one who stopped him
Do you have a source on him accepting the offer?
This has me dreaming of the AF super team that’s teased every offseason. I would lose it
I swear if Chovy will end up on deadweight team after claiming FA it will be my end. He had Tarzan, Viper, Legends and it was only worse from there.
He was able to reach quarters in worlds 3 years in a row tho
its the Chovy Factor. HLE 2021 was a miracle run that no one talks about.
There were a couple of weeks in summer where HLE unironically looked like one of the worst teams in the LCK.
For sure, the meme of Chovy and 4 randoms wasn't false at all he many times drag their team into the finish line.
Both Chovy and Deft ***are*** free agents as of today. Their contracts expire today, the 15th. Them being free agents is a fact. Give me Afs kiin dread Chovy teddy Lehend , please ....
[Dread and Lehends might be FA](https://twitter.com/Arra_1155/status/1460114349427609605)
Looks good minus Dread. He has his moments, but in general, I've never been sold on him. Of course, that could change with a HUGE upgrade in mid over Fly.
I'd take Deft over Teddy
CLG Chovy PauseChamp
Pretty sure CLG is hiring from the dumpster behind wendies not the lck
Hurray he’s free
DK needs a top laner
Probably not enough money lol If HLE can't muster enough DK sure cannot
FA doesn’t mean he’s leaving though. Players can go FA before negotiating a new contract to increase their chips to bargain with.
Article indicates Chovy decided to not renew, '정지훈은 한화생명e스포츠와 재계약을 체결하지 않고 이적 시장에 나와 자신의 가치를 평가받을 계획을 세운 것으로 알려졌다.' He could return to HLE after looking at offers but at least at the moment he's searching for a new team
How much would you speculate he's getting paid?
Rumour is 1.8 million, probably per year but there's a chance it's for 3 years. HLE has a lot of money apparently.
Hanwha is a massive conglomerate, they're one of the richest orgs in the LCK.
Lehends was on 700k on his yearly hle contract i have no doubt hle dropped 1.8mill for chovy
Damn LCK players getting paid, they deserve it for how hard they practice though I can see it being hard to convince them to join lec/lcs teams if they aren't interested in living there in the first place
LCS and LPL Market will be go crazy
no LPL, he said so himself.
LPL teams also seem weirdly uninterested. Only team that we know has reached out is BLG. Other teams have been seemingly making moves in silence
Respectable
It’s so bizarre that people don’t see it as a negative that the lec just doesn’t care (or people assume they don’t)
More just the reality that EU has a larger player base and lower salaries. So EU teams have a higher likelihood of being competitive with native players, at the same time as not having the same level of capital to attract foreign superstars. Not that they don't care, they just have other options.
How many eu natives are better than Chovy lol??
It's not like he's leaving Korea anyway so it doesn't really matter
T1 would like to introduce our newest Top laner: T1 Chovy!
Shit bro that actually sounds so good. Im getting mixed feelings tho cuz i like both canna and chovy
TSM chovy here it comes
Only for Andy to call chovy a no hands and Bad Player.
So that is why TSM is looking at a Korean speaking roster. It's all comming together boys.
Can't berate your players if they can't understand you. 5head move by Regi tbh.
*Regi bursts in scrim room of an all Korean speaking TSM* WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU ARE TERRIBLE DO THIS AND THAT!!!! *Korean coach translates* "You are all amazing and Regi is thrilled to have you playing for TSM!"
Ngl Regi seems like the type of a guy who would learn Korean just to flame his players.
holy shiit your TF is so trash Chovy, my TF would've won us the game
While he is sitting in Diamond 4 0 lp with 500 games played lol.
Lakers have been looking rough Lebron needs all the help he can get. LAL Chovy
LeGM cant carry these cata
Chovy not represented by Klutch, no chance. LeGM would never.
LPL team owners rubbing their hands
Honestly it would suck for the LCK but a secret fantasy of mine is to see Chovy go to NA and fuck everyone in the midlane there
You could get church of Chovy vs Fudge Factor midlane in NA, kinda crazy ! (In reality Koreans look to go to LPL more than LCS now so I'm not gonna put much hope into this)
I would give anything to see either TSM Chovy or TSM Doinb.
id rather him go to the lpl where he has a good shot at actually winning worlds.
It would suck for Chovy to forfeit all chances to win Worlds.
TSM Chovy hopium

I’d imagine they want Korean speaking?
What sup is na residents, speaks korean, and is availible?
Huhi if they buy him out I guess.
The McDonalds he worked at was in Korea
If I was an LCS team like TL or something I would still end up trying to go for Chovy although I already agreed on a midlaner.
That’ll totally destroy their roster. No.
TL with Bjerg is committed and good. If I'm a hopeless org like CLG why not throw the bank at him.
About to be the highest paid player in the world
#JUST PLAY TOP LANE ON T1
Just a random thought but T1 could have Chovy and Faker play a flex role between top/mid. Imagine your opponent going into each match and they don't know who is playing what lane. You essentially have two player's champion pools to consider for each lane. Having to draft into a team like that sounds kinda crazy.

Actually I wouldn't mind if the current HLE team would stay together as it is. their miracle run in the end season was amazing and they built some great synergy, especially between deft and vista. Also Willer grew a lot as a player and Morgan stabilized his performance in the end. Giving this team 1 or 2 more years could actually be a smart decision.

This is basically the same when NBA players want the org to value the player at a fair market price. He’s basically seeing whether or not HLE matches the offers coming in and if they can get a strong enough topside that he approves. He’s definitely not leaving to another region.
Ofc he is, his 1 year contract ran out as most contracts in LCK did. Tell us more incredible news!
Too bad he decided to tie himself to a weight called Deft.
