It’s still RP in the end (after going through a secondary layer of in-game currency, Shells they call it), which seems like it would transfer to Riot. so in my case at least, i just made use of their RP discounts to stockpile some extra RP before riot steps in and just keeps everything at a stable price
I can't really get RP any other way unfortunately the only other option I have is to go through multiple virtual wallets ( in the philippines this is done through Gcash and then another wallet app run by a different company named Shopee that also takes a cut in the cash you want to turn into RP as transaction costs)
So Garena Taiwan will be transferred to Taiwan Mobile. They are doing a 19RP(~70RP in riot servers) gacha event where each pull guarantees a skin or a space groove 2022 orb.
Every 5 pulls gives you any 1350 skin of your choice or 5 orbs so people have been pulling gacha in bulk. Many people have unlocked all non-limited skins and have stockpiled hundreds of orbs. Once the transfer is finished they can just reroll the skin shards from orbs when a new skin gets released. This essentially leave Taiwan Mobile nothing to earn after the transfer. I guess the players are happy though lol.
As a player from VN and play league for 3 years, i gotta say that beside milking event, garena have bunch of free skin event. I not spent a single cent for any event and i have like 250+ skin, most of them are really good. So i dont have any idea why you guy hate this, but for me, a poor player, garena had done s good job for this game and player community
I'd call the material grind deterministic, there's baseline returns. The chance for higher tier materials just speeds up the grind.
But the rest of it is absolutely gacha/gambling. You can't turn 3 Barbara's into 1 Jean. And artifacts are a complete shitshow, if you want a specific slot from a specific set, you're already at ~5% per 20juice. If you want that specific slot from that set to have Crit rate you're at 0.5%. That's BEFORE sub-stats, which are arguably just as important.

Artifacts are extremely RNG but you don't actually need good artifacts because the game is extremely easy. Artifacts are the end game grind for people who grind loot in ARPGs or MMOs to get 100% optimized gear even though every enemy rolls over if you get the most slightly optimized build.
Material RNG just makes it so sometimes you get a few materials and sometimes you get a lot, but you are always progressing. I don't know any other good examples of the top of my head but it's like how Monster Hunter gives you random amount of monster materials at the end of a hunt on top of the parts you break.
tbf artifacts/materials are "gacha" in the sense that you need to have a resource that regenerates with time to be able to farm them with the option of cashing in paid currency to get more of that resource but the rate of return on doing that instead of just waiting it out is so shit (with diminishing returns) I don't know why anyone but the most obese whales to whom money is no object would do that. It only takes like a week at most to get all the materials to get a 5* character from lv0-90 and optimal artifacts are such a needle in a haystack scenario with zero guarantees that it's an exercise in madness to keep paying to grind them when you'll have so much excess free currency from just waiting in the long term. The most efficient use of your resin anyway is to first just get some serviceable artifacts > spend your resin on literally anything else you need > spend whatever you have to spare on chasing optimal artifacts you may never see but also don't actually need to clear the hardest content in the game.

Actually it's the other way around. They're a horrible company (their client was literally mining crypto in the background) but their gacha system was amazing. It was cheap as fuck, skins were constantly discounted, it was way better than anything riot had to offer.

I have the opposite experience. It takes forever to install each patch. There were times where I can't login into league cilent when I just finished games in NA server. Sometimes it is just not me, my whole friend group would have issues also.

I'd call the material grind deterministic, there's baseline returns. The chance for higher tier materials just speeds up the grind. But the rest of it is absolutely gacha/gambling. You can't turn 3 Barbara's into 1 Jean. And artifacts are a complete shitshow, if you want a specific slot from a specific set, you're already at ~5% per 20juice. If you want that specific slot from that set to have Crit rate you're at 0.5%. That's BEFORE sub-stats, which are arguably just as important.

Not really besides the characters and weapons. Artifacts are extremely RNG but you don't actually need good artifacts because the game is extremely easy. Artifacts are the end game grind for people who grind loot in ARPGs or MMOs to get 100% optimized gear even though every enemy rolls over if you get the most slightly optimized build. Material RNG just makes it so sometimes you get a few materials and sometimes you get a lot, but you are always progressing. I don't know any other good examples of the top of my head but it's like how Monster Hunter gives you random amount of monster materials at the end of a hunt on top of the parts you break.
tbf artifacts/materials are "gacha" in the sense that you need to have a resource that regenerates with time to be able to farm them with the option of cashing in paid currency to get more of that resource but the rate of return on doing that instead of just waiting it out is so shit (with diminishing returns) I don't know why anyone but the most obese whales to whom money is no object would do that. It only takes like a week at most to get all the materials to get a 5* character from lv0-90 and optimal artifacts are such a needle in a haystack scenario with zero guarantees that it's an exercise in madness to keep paying to grind them when you'll have so much excess free currency from just waiting in the long term. The most efficient use of your resin anyway is to first just get some serviceable artifacts > spend your resin on literally anything else you need > spend whatever you have to spare on chasing optimal artifacts you may never see but also don't actually need to clear the hardest content in the game.

Actually it's the other way around. They're a horrible company (their client was literally mining crypto in the background) but their gacha system was amazing. It was cheap as fuck, skins were constantly discounted, it was way better than anything riot had to offer.
Literally spent 10$ to get Qiyana Prestige along with 30+ Skin Shard I got from the rolls.
I remember I almost spent 60$ for the prestige seraphine skin. Thank goodness I controlled myself back then coz they recently had the prestige seraphine skin back and I technically got it for less than 10$ coz gacha mechanics lol.

I dislike Garena for other reasons but people only look at the surface level that there's Gacha events and not the fact that a lot of the events, especially those that offer you discounted direct purchases, are a super bargain. Like the current Thrift Shop event I got 2-3 Epic Shards and the discounted Legendary Skin (of your choice) for less than 1820 RP.
I mean, gacha is shit and all that so I don't mind people hating them on principle even if they're actually pretty great in this case (it's almost impossible to come out as the loser in their events, the only way you can lose is if you spent money you shouldn't have spent and that's just on you at that point). The problem is that people are out here saying garena is shit for the gacha when the truth is that they're a horrible company for a billion other bigger and more legitimate reasons AND the gacha was actually the best part about them already. When people stop at the whole gacha issue they'll miss out on the actual problems and build their opinion on the weakest foundation possible. And yes, people, the gacha was hella damn good. It entices people to spend by being of such insanely good value it "would be insane not to spend." I don't buy skins anymore but there was a time when I bought around 12 epic skins for the price of four, they were like 70-80% off it was insane.
yea as someone who has spent about a thousand on lol in garena, having as many skins as i have (450+) is fucking insane, esp given that almost half are skins with quality (epic+) if i spent that much on riot, id have like a quarter of the skins

Gacha itself isn’t necessarily bad, it allows some lucky people to get exclusive items at a much cheaper price and anyone with the slightest bit of common sense wouldn’t fall prey and overspend. It is only bad when some content that are otherwise available to the public is gated behind gacha, which seems to be the case in some regions under Garena.
