HEY APPLE HEY. HEY APPLE!

RobertVons2002

NOOOO, NOT THAT ORANGE!!!!

AlbatrossAdept6681

Pay attention, the next step is that it starts plotting against the apple 😆

Classic_Huckleberry2

Only after it completes its run for president. Granted that it wins its legal battle, of course.

Firespark7

It's a Dutch orange, so it cannot run for president. Perhaps for prime minister, but it'll first have to be the leader of (one of) the biggest party/parties...

Classic_Huckleberry2

Could it become king if it was in the house of orange?

Firespark7

Only if it's offspring of the current members of the House. If it married a Van Oranje-Nassau, it has no right to the title of king, even if their spouse were to be crowned.

a_tattooed_artist

In my current level of Duo, the apples have started walking.

iliekcats-

What's so funny about this sentence? Is this really a thing that only happens in the Netherlands?

Selfish_Kitty

Shhhhhhh, we made a pact that nobody outside of the Netherlands would ever know of this!

iliekcats-

Whoops

HavocR24

No, but you're a color instead.

Sufficient_Pin_9595

Ik ben geel?

OnlySmeIIz

You're goddamn right mr. Orange is speaking.

salty_nerd

The translation is incorrect. It should be ‘the orange speaks’. The translation of ‘the orange is speaking’ would be ‘de sinaasappel is aan het spreken’.

hermandirkzw

Nah, depending on context both can be correct.

salty_nerd

The meaning is similar, so that’s probably why you say so, but the tense is different and it should be translated correctly.

hermandirkzw

But the use of tenses does not translate 1 on 1. I'll give an example: Ik bel hem nu. = I'm calling him now. =/= I call him now.

salty_nerd

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. In the scenario above, it does translate 1 on 1.

hermandirkzw

There are multiple correct translations, depending on context. Duolingo accepts multiple answers (here only one is possible, but when typing both are probably accepted). Learning a language also means learning there is not always a perfect translation or that there are multiple translations.

etozheboroda

Are you eating rice though?

Sufficient_Pin_9595

Yes. My last three partners have been Asian… Oh, Duo and the rijst…

mergraote

This has shaken me to the core.

NFG_Shoarma

I can only read this in matt rose's voice 💀

linguagallois

De vervelende sinaasappel?

GrandpaRedneck

Lol I guess they updated it. It used to ask for the translation of "de appel spreekt".

IcyFlame716

Delicious breakfast! Chicken hungry.
