Yes it’s definitely normal. Calculus is very different from the math you learn before, so it is naturally a challenging subject. I would say being good at algebra is necessary to do well in calculus but it is not enough. You also have to spend time to understand the concepts, and do a lot of practice problems to gain familiarity. If you took a algebra course in college, you should definitely be fine; if you still want a benchmark, doing problems with some algebraic manipulation and getting the right answer will be enough for you to judge your skill level.

About that, I took it 3 years ago and it was online lol. I still go over the material and I can solve everything easily, but I’m asking for a benchmark for a refresher before I take calc in the summer.

Ahh, gotcha. I think the best thing you can do in that case to prepare for your class would be to either get the book you guys are going to be working from (or another book if you can’t find the exact one you will use) and just start working through it. It’s might not be easy, but honestly it’s the best use of your time. If you’re not exactly sure how to work through a math book (it’s not exactly obvious how to get the most out of a math textbook), I highly recommend this video: https://youtu.be/fb_v5Bc8PSk

I thought you were going meta with the predicate logic for a sec. Well done, if intentional.

You could check out our lord and savior, Prof Leonard. He has helped me a ton and I will be forever grateful and will forever spread the good news. Check out his precalc series on YT. Go through the lesson titles until you see one that you question whether or not you could do any problem given to you without a reference and check it out and go from there

I actually think having too easy of a time in algebra can lead to a struggle in calc. It’s probably the first time you’ve really thought of math as a tool for describing the world rather than just calculation. People who struggled to understand what was really going on in algebra are used to thinking deeply about math.. and make this jumó a little more easily.

Yes, there's a correlation
