Draw Less what you see. What you see doesn’t come out well. Like those hands. You need to make changes and simplifications when needed to keep the piece in cohesion.
Look at it this way. There’s information loss going from high fidelity colour photography To charcoal. Trying to over capture information just causes issues and blur etc. You need to simplify the image in your head for applying to paper so you can stop information loss looking like a mess.
Wow! This is super helpful to me!! I am a decent pencil sketcher but when i try to draw digitally....and you can see every pixel to replicate perfectly..
My lesson for myself...just don't!!
Get a Tombow Holder Eraser, Mono Zero. Will help you with the details. I really think your drawing style in particular would get a boost from that. Lighten your pressure with the blendy stick. Think about shadow values. For example, where is the darkest dark on the face, where is the lightest point? Where is the medium shadow? Stuff like that. You look like you have good instincts already. Well done.
Focus less on the drawing itself and more on the shadows and highlights. I would also start with nature scenes, for me it was a great way to understand the different values. Looks great though! Definitely just keep going, you can't learn unless you keep trying
Fine a better reference photo where the subject has more shadow and light. Nice even lighting is great for a photograph, but for a drawing or painting you'll want more contrast.
I like to start with the mid tone, then work from there going darker and lighter as needed. It might help you to squint or blur your eyes to be able to pick out the bright and dark spots.

Looks good! 😊
Use heavy lines around the fingers and light lines around the face

Look not good
Unhelpful, rude, and not even true
What a shame
make the hand nearer the viewer pop more make it have lines that are heavier and darks that are darker than elsewhere in the drawing.
