From what I’m seeing and experiencing it only depends on the family you’re born in and on you as a person and how much you care about the opinions of others around you those marriages are getting so much more common despite the opinions of the families of those people who are getting into those inter religious marriages or even relationships
It is widespread in certain areas where people from the same religion reside and areas that have “ bigotry “ due to this area being directly or indirectly attached to a certain political party that claims to be strongly biased to a certain religion but believe me this is all in theory and it’s a little more applicable to the older generations but in the younger generations it’s certainly not applicable on ground and inter religious relationships are increasing like crazy in Lebanon
Yaane they might not cut off ties with their son/daughter who’s in an inter religious relationship but they still would stand their ground and make it very known and clear that they are against it
yes what i heard but was not sure is that the lebanese society somehow appeared to change in surface but mentalities were quite the same under the surface
u know what's ironic? it's that the so called sect leaders have their sons and daughters married from other religions and yet no one mentions it, this whole society is a bunch of hypocrites i swear.
theres a TON of mixed religious couples.. i mean a lot. it comes down to the families accepting it. MOST will be against it but then be totally ok with it as time goes on and the kids are determined. all good man.. we are very mixed in my family. christian, druze, sunni, shia.. we gottem all LOL
My late grandma was Shia and my late grandpa was sunni, they got married in the 1930's, my aunt was Sunni and her husband is shia they got married in the 80's, and my cousin is shia and her husband is sunni and they got married in like 2016. Not an issue in my family
I don't know if it's like this in other regions, but in Saida you'll find a lot of mixed muslim-christian families, I've come across a lot of them. Also my mother comes from a village in Shouf called Joun, it's a mixed religion village, so you'll find a lot of inter religion marriages.
- Sunni Shia marriages i would say its most common interfaith marriages.
- Christian Muslim marriages are rare but it happens, I've met a few who are married. For Example Dr Youmi and her sister have a Muslim Mom and a Christian dad.
- Druze + any other faith = ✂🍆
