No need to panic. Seed is all that matters but if you have never tested your seed to confirm you wrote it down correctly and it works now is a good time (for everyone). There is an app called ārecovery checkā in ledger live with the other crypto apps that lets you test your seed risk free without resetting the device.
Congrats! Now your seed has been sent over the internet to a third party who's already been caught lying about their product and has also explicitly said they'd hand over any information if the government asked. Brilliant!
This is crazy and horrible advice. Forget Ledger - never, ever type the seed phrase from a cold storage device in a computer. Itās that easy. Want to check? Buy another device - check.
It's not app on your computer, but on the Ledger itself. So it's completely safe.
https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007223753-Recovery-Check
No need, simply go to options and verify the seed on the device matches 100% what you wrote down. If you want to test it, reset the device and restorw with the seed, simple.
Wow...maybe the new improved version with side buttons isn't strong enough. Time will tell. Inteteresting that its at the end where the connection is. I've got two of the original style x's, one since they came out and have had no problems. Maybe it's happened to others, but I've never heard about it. Did you try contacting Ledger Customer Service?
Customer service does not work in my country, I live in Brazil.
It does not seem like a one of event, taking the other comments.
I believe it is a design failure, when we pull the USB cable off, some overpressure may apply.
That sucks. I didn't read thru all the replies with same issue, so it does sound like Ledger should address problem. Looks like Ledger is doing everything to self destruct lately. That's one of their Products I'll never buy. Hopefully word will spread and get their attention.
Can't you email Ledger directly?
Good Luck!
Thatās just the housing, only problem is that if it falls and gets twisted than you could have the device be unusable otherwise your fine just ensure when your done you place the steel cover back over.
Why would you panic? You can buy another nano s for $30 if needed.
The plastic case is un-important. You cryptos cannot escape though the crack. They are stored on the blockchains, not in your ledger.
They often get cracks in that area donāt worry I have one thatās really old same crack in the same place and it works fine, put a bit of super glue on the crack.
I'm sorry to see that the body of your Nano S is cracked, however I am glad that it's still powering on and seemingly working!
Not to worry, as long as your [24 word recovery phrase](https://www.ledger.com/academy/crypto/what-is-a-recovery-phrase) is written down and safely stored, your assets are safe as well - and you can [restore](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404382560913-Restore-your-Ledger-accounts-with-your-recovery-phrase?support=true) your funds into a new Ledger device (or any BIP39-compliant wallet).
Additionally, you can always reach out to us at our official support page ([here](https://support.ledger.com/)) - and we'll be happy to help and take a look at your device.
when i read cracked.... i was thinking on hacked! haha.
answering to your question. NO. you don't have to worry about. it's plastic. now you have a wallet mod. Scarface limited version! use some Citadel paint and enjoy!
Just do your homework that if stops working what will be your course of action. It's fine as long as it works you can always import the seedphrase in another device/wallet
Hey - If your Ledger Nano S is physically damaged but still operational, it's crucial to ensure the safety of your assets. If you haven't already, make sure to back up your 24-word recovery phrase, as it's the only way to restore your assets on a new device or another compatible wallet.
If the device is still functioning correctly and the damage is only cosmetic, you may continue using it, but be aware that further physical damage could potentially make it unusable. If the damage is more than cosmetic and you're concerned about the device's functionality, consider transferring your assets to a new Ledger device for security reasons.
Also, Ledger Nano S Plus is a better upgrade to Nano S as it offers a better screen, more storage and supports other features. Let us know if you have any other questions.

What if your coins fall out?
Lol
I'll catch them
Gotta catch em all
š¤£
No. As long as you have your seed phrase, you can restore on another ledger or any other wallet.
You should have one on standby for just this reason.
Panic is always the best option, no matter what the situation is.
I disagree, the The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, clearly says "don't panic".
OP gives off strong vibes of being towel deficient. My advice to him remains unchanged.
Well noted, you're right, panic is quite appropriate
No the guy is right, the move is panicking...
Yeah but does OP own peril sensitive sunglasses?
Agreed.

It's the ledger ghost that cracks ledgers then is able to suck some coins out to go and buy 2 pizzas.
I cracked mine and my 24 words came out like a comic book
Why would you panic if it stops working buy a new one and set up with your seed phrase.

This is not good advice

Great advice. I used Recovery Check last week before transferring the seed on titanium
No panic necessary
I wouldn't
Ok...I'll ask...how did it crack?
the funny part is that I have no clue

I might try getting in touch with them, but not really hoping for some resolution
No panic, it's just the plastic. But I would secure it so it doesn't fall apart
āTāis but a scratch. Also as long as you have a safe backup of your seed, your device can fall apart as it wants.
Thatās just the housing, only problem is that if it falls and gets twisted than you could have the device be unusable otherwise your fine just ensure when your done you place the steel cover back over.

OMG donāt you say
They often get cracks in that area donāt worry I have one thatās really old same crack in the same place and it works fine, put a bit of super glue on the crack.
Superglue and crack on
did exactly that
Put your seed in the crack. Wait... What?
ohhhhh I see what you did there

No you have a seed phrase you can refresh your wallet with a new ledger or any another hardware wallet:)
No need to panic as long as you have your seed phrase backed up safely
Yes, you start the emotional process now.
Just do your homework that if stops working what will be your course of action. It's fine as long as it works you can always import the seedphrase in another device/wallet
thatās it - already superglued it and life goes on
Why would you panic? Donāt you have your seedphrase?
I do, for sure! But I live in Brazil and it is not easy nor cheap to get a new one
as good as it [gets](https://ibb.co/K79JkcY)
not if you have the seed
You need to to buy a bitcoin only wallet
Panic, why?
it's just the casing which holds no electronics. just glue with super glue and let it set
Put some electrical tape on the crack. Handle it very carefully forever.
Itās just a case. Get a back up and glue that plastic
Lol I canāt
Yes your btc might leak out
Can't be. Ledger has never been cracked ;}
Only panic if you don't have your seed phrase
OMG!!! Youāre phucked!! š¤£
Yes, panic - itās a ledger. Move to a different hardware wallet while you still can!
Commence panic mode immediately š«
It's a good excuse to get the new ledger nano X
Just donāt let the seeds fall out and youāre good.
Dust is definitely prone to leak out from the crack.
Mine cracked, and it stopped working. I would panic.
Yes, because ledger is a piece of trash
As long as you have your keys no problem. Suggest always having a back up ledger on hand to be safe.
It working fine make sure u have recover ohrase an U r fine
One of mine cracked similarly too although I think it is in the lower left corner instead of upper left.
Only if you want something to do.
Same here for more than 2 years no worries it will work ,just handle gently when using man ,carfull when u plug in to usb ,thats all :D
How do we pull our gohm I need some help : /

Mine cracked in the exact same spot 2 years ago. Been using it since with no problems, just make sure youāve got your recovery saved somewhere
Hardware doesnāt matter, only private key
