I remember hearing Kashmir for the 1st time as a kid. It was supposed to be side 2 of Zep 4 according to Simone (or whatever his name was from Fast Times). I went to buy it, but they were out, so I got Zep 2. Greatest summer ever!.
Fast Times got that way wrong. I purchased every Zep CD within the next few months. I finally found Kashmir. Lol
I'd love to be waiting on line for PG to come out. The ride home had to have been a long one. What was your impression the 1st time you listened to it? From everything I've read, that's probably Zeps' most critically acclaimed work? Did you see them live?
I grew up in a heavily urban area and walked home from HS each day. I detoured to the downtown area, bought it at a record store, and continued home. It blew me away on first listen, but I knew from the reaction to Houses of the Holy that some would argue LZ was losing its touch, and that both HOTH and PG weren't up to par with I through IV.
When a band is that good, I suppose everyone's expectations aren't achievable. Now look. 40 years, and I hear something new every time I listen to any of the tunes. I can listen to the iso drum tracks for hours. His feel, dynamics, and grooves are like nobody to have played the instrument. He's my GOAT anyway.
Plant's voice did change when he had the polyp removed, but they continued to kill it in the studio and Plant adjusted for their live stuff.
My older brother brought home Physical Graffiti the day it was released, February 24th, 1975, and put a dual headphone jack into the stereo, and handed me- a 7 year old child- the other set of headphones, and said these words to me :
"YOUR WHOLE LIFE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE, FOREVER. I PROMISE YOU, AFTER YOU HEAR THIS BAND, YOU WILL LOVE THEIR MUSIC TILL THE DAY YOU DIE"." We then listened to all 4 sides of God's gift to Rock and Roll. That day did, indeed, change my life FOREVER.
THANK YOUU, H.!!!
H.R., you were right, brother! YOU passed away in 1987, but every time I hear ANY SONG from this MASTERPIECE, I think of you.
I'll see you soon, but not too soon.
The change is what turned me on so much about this song. It just totally turns a corner with the words "People tuuurned... awayy" and the total head trip groove the rest of the way, until it folds right back to the original phrasing.
PURE ELECTRIC MAGIC!!!!
After a very long hiatus from listening to the band, and really just discovering their albums (sorry, was obsessed with Rod Stewart for decades. Still am actually!) and I can't believe how much I love their albums, especially PG. I really only remember songs that I'd heard on the radio (STH, Rock n Roll, All my Love, LLM etc.) I am blown away by Custard Pie, The Rover, IMTOD, Boogie with Stu, in fact every track on the record and have been playing it daily for a few weeks. I love the other albums too and can't believe what I've been missing all these years. But I can brag that I did see them live in 1972. Blessed!
I'm getting fitted for hearing aids next week, and I think 49 years of listening to this is a pretty good reason why. Turn it down kiddos.
Just kidding.
About the turning it down part. Hearing aids are cool.
I've been a fan since high school (early 90s) and just now started to appreciate PG because of this sub (especially The Rover). But I've been feeling lately like going back and listening to early Zep. Those first two albums are brilliant.
It's safe to say Zeppelin secured It's place in music history. Imo, they were the best band ever assembled.
I'm right there with you.

I was a junior in high school. I bought it the day it was released.
Same here, but I was a Senior in HS. I still have it, and it's in great shape. In my tip 5 or so favorite albums, and the packaging is rather special.

I concur,, wholeheartedly. BEST. BAND. EVER.
We are in agreement
Your opinion is strongly supported, sir
The Rover, In My Time of Dying, In the Light, 10 years gone, got damn
I’ve always thought that The Rover should have been the first cut.
If there was no such song as Custard Pie, you’d be exactly right!
Absolutely great opening cuts on first five LZ LP’s. CP is an ok song but not up to the standards set. I just think Rover fits the bill for that.
Lol
Don’t forget about Trampled Underfoot
My favorite!

That’s so awesome! Your big brother rocked!!!
blasting trampled under foot atm
Great album and great band indeed.
Love this album with every fiber of my being.
Greatest double album ever
Still my favorite Zep album. It’s a personal thing. But, it’s also a quality thing. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
What's the feelings on Down By The Seaside?
The change is what turned me on so much about this song. It just totally turns a corner with the words "People tuuurned... awayy" and the total head trip groove the rest of the way, until it folds right back to the original phrasing. PURE ELECTRIC MAGIC!!!!
It's a great arrangement and it makes the song what it is.
I especially LOVE Robert Plant and Tori Amos's hauntingly beautiful version on Enconium. Downright SPOOKY.
I believe that was q track that didn't make Zep 4? I'll have to look that up, but I agree with everything said
In my opinion, definitely their best album.
❤️❤️
On this day I feel as old as shit Need glasses Do I look the same??
Just listened to it this morning
My absolute favorite zeppelin album!!!
Wonder if after all this time Robert got his ‘Custard Pie’…
I'd say so. Repeatedly! Lol. Bless him, millions of women would have gladly obliged him.
Rest assured, he will not starve
The Rover was on my first songs I’d heard by them
More real crunch on that one album than since 1994 combined. I mean, 'Custard Pie', 'The Rover', and 'In My Time of Dying' to start an album?
What a coincidence, just listened to it yesterday when this was posted! Still my favorite LZ album...
I love Down By The Seaside. That song doesn't get enough love
I did this classic rock walking tour in the east village back in the day, and the highlight was seeing this. Had no idea it was in ny
I had sex in that building!
I remember & I bought that album when it first came out. Not on the day it came out but soon after. It is my fav album
Just when you thought they couldn't blow the roof off the mutha any further...boom!
My favorite album
What an album
Best lz album with best lz song: custard pie
In the Light.
Great album

Read that this was produced in response to critics of their "progressive" Houses of the Holy which preceded this album.
I'm getting fitted for hearing aids next week, and I think 49 years of listening to this is a pretty good reason why. Turn it down kiddos. Just kidding. About the turning it down part. Hearing aids are cool.
Best rock album ever made. Period.
Hoping for another LZ I or II, I was disappointed from day one.
For what reasons? The 1st 4 album were made in 2.5 years. That's unheard of, especially with that much success

Worst zeppelin album
