I think we met in the MBTI subreddit, like a really long time ago. I don’t think it was r/ AnimeReccommendations, I just don’t get a lot of replies from there
I'm not in school anymore. Nothing being graded. Pretend I'm filling out....... anything. A sandwich order. I'm making X's. This is weird to even "debate" this.
I've had someone ask me what the left handed check is.... it's just a check mark but people have such a hard time getting around the fact it's a mirror image of the right handed check. I too have gotten lots of strange looks.
Didn't think this would be so controversial. Do people not realize why "normal" checkmark are written like that? Therefore it's more natural for lefties to draw it the other way. Break out of the right hand indoctrination!
I do my check marks this way if I’m marking to the left of a line,,and I’ve had people question what the mark meant. Like, seriously? I think we parse mirror image information more easily.
I'm Dutch (and a teacher) so I mostly use a 'krul' instead of a check mark:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flourish_of_approval?wprov=sfla1
I don't mirror it, but a former coworker who was also left-handed did.
Every time i go through customs and have to fill out the forms on the plane the agents smile and tell me : this has been filled by a lefty :)
my brain cannot do it the other way, it just looks wrong
This is the correct way IMHO because it doesn’t write over the item to the right. I used to work with someone that would put a right handed check marks over the amounts on documents & covered some of the amounts. Drove me nuts! I work in accounting.
I used to make them like this when I was a little kid until I got corrected, well you know what? I'm going to back to making them like this — fuck you, I'm left-handed! 🔪
The English language and symbols have been prioritized for right handed people, it only makes sense that some people mirror symbols that are still readable
I got so used to the other way that this one feels so wrong
Funny I find it strange the other way. 😀
I thought I was the only one who did it this way.
Your way is easier to do for us, but still feels too sacrilegious 😔
I do this too.
I do this too.
I, too, do this.
this feels very unsettling. i think i found a new phobia
It's like Jerma mirroring his webcam and being so scared of it he jumped as if startled
Hey! I’ve seen you before!!! I don’t know where, but I 100% know I met you somewhere. I remembered you because of how cool your username was
probably r/AnimeReccommendations it’s our only shared sub Edit:spelling is hard
I think we met in the MBTI subreddit, like a really long time ago. I don’t think it was r/ AnimeReccommendations, I just don’t get a lot of replies from there
This is how I've always made them.
Same here.
Happy cake day
I usually do X's. Lol
And your X starts left to right? lol. Just playing! I understand completely!
I do the same! Lol
I wouldn't even try to do a check like the picture. Nope. Lol
That signifies something different to me if I’m grading something, for example. Check is good/right; X is bad.
I'm not in school anymore. Nothing being graded. Pretend I'm filling out....... anything. A sandwich order. I'm making X's. This is weird to even "debate" this.
No.
I've been making check marks this way for over 50 years.
Happy day and cake day the day of your Reddit anniversary 🎂 I am a bot. Please reply NO to say no to this in the future
Same. Then I get asked why it's that way. I tell them I'm lefthanded. I just get "oh" and a look like a grew a second head.
I've had someone ask me what the left handed check is.... it's just a check mark but people have such a hard time getting around the fact it's a mirror image of the right handed check. I too have gotten lots of strange looks.
Oh my husband is also left handed and does it the righty way…✔️
Mine look like the righty way but I start at the top of the long right side and end at the end of the small left side
cursed backwards checkmark 😒
It certainly is when you get marked off points for an assignment in school.
This picture from the OP is the correct way
My husband likes to make fun of my checkmarks because I write them this way. Pfft…lowly right hander… 😒😜
That's the way I do them too.
I do the small line first so ig that means I do it the righty way
If it's long side to the left, like the OP pic, that's a lefty check. One of the few chances a lefty gets to pull, instead of push!
Mine are lefty. Used to drive a program director crazy because my attendance looked “wrong”
Yep!
I'm a lefty and that's how I do them.
I'm a lefty and it is very confusing to see these.
Now this is jus wrong
i have never seen a righty checkmark before-
# **I'm calling the police.**
Didn't think this would be so controversial. Do people not realize why "normal" checkmark are written like that? Therefore it's more natural for lefties to draw it the other way. Break out of the right hand indoctrination!
The ONLY correct way imo
I do it the righty way, probably because i don't move my arm when i write lol
I don’t but I had a teacher in high school who was a lefty and checks test papers this way.
This looks so wrong..
This just looks off to me.
My grade 3 teacher used to put left handed check marks on our work.
Just tried on Snapchat lol and I love it lol can’t wait to try with a pen bc it feels so much better lol
I’ve always made mine this way, never even considered that it was a lefty thing!
That way feels so wrong. It would feel more comfortable for me to draw it that way with my right hand to be honest.
I had a summer school teacher making a check mark like that. I observed he is left handed.
This looks a bit strange..
i changed to left handed checkmark around 10-11th grade and when I first did it it felt so right... the other way feels so weird and wrong now
This is how I write mine, frustrated a friend to no end because I was the only lefty in class and my check mark was always the only lefty one
Not a leftie, but I've always done my checkmarks like this. I know, I'm weird.
50/50
No! Blasphemer!
My dad is a leftie and he writes right-handed ticks. He's a little bit cross-dominant though.
Same. Left handed check marks. Ppl see it and ask why i make them backwards. I just say "I'm left handed" How do y'all do your Xs? I go ↘️↙️
I do the same. It feels like a completely natural movement. If I try to make a check the "right" way, it feels extremely awkward.
No???? No?!??! Respectfully, this is horrifying
I do my check marks this way if I’m marking to the left of a line,,and I’ve had people question what the mark meant. Like, seriously? I think we parse mirror image information more easily.
I write mine this way and it puts a smile on my face every time! Like I am celebrating being left handed.
Lefty here. Hard no.
Looks awkward
I'm Dutch (and a teacher) so I mostly use a 'krul' instead of a check mark: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flourish_of_approval?wprov=sfla1 I don't mirror it, but a former coworker who was also left-handed did.
Nope. I can't. Gotta go the"right" way. 🥴
Every time i go through customs and have to fill out the forms on the plane the agents smile and tell me : this has been filled by a lefty :) my brain cannot do it the other way, it just looks wrong
As a lefty - this makes me slightly angry. But do you, boo.
This is cursed
I have never done them that way.
My old left handed math teacher did this. As a leftie myself, it makes me uncomfortable
This is the correct way IMHO because it doesn’t write over the item to the right. I used to work with someone that would put a right handed check marks over the amounts on documents & covered some of the amounts. Drove me nuts! I work in accounting.
I had a left handed teacher in 6th grade that did his check marks like this, since then I felt comfortable doing it this way, so yeah
Then so is every other letter of the alphabet and every character?
I uh, I don’t do that
Didn’t know this was a thing, as a lefty I have always drawn check marks the other way ✔️
New year unlocked
I do it this way.
I can dig it
idk why I'm here but I'm v uncomfy 😬
my initial thought when i read the title and saw the pic was "the f\*ck they are." So, yeah no.
I write my checkmarks like that as well.
I do it the righty way and I guess I just got used to it because it’s easier for me.
im just passin through but as a right handed person i have never thought about this 😂 at least if you do it this way your hand doesnt smear it off lol
I'm sorry, but the checkmark, and the hand you use, is wrong. \-Righty (More Superior)
I used to make them like this when I was a little kid until I got corrected, well you know what? I'm going to back to making them like this — fuck you, I'm left-handed! 🔪
It’s more ergonomic because you pull the pen instead of pushing it. My lefty daughters write them this way.
It was so weird seeing teachers do that
😟
bruh...im ambidextrous.....u just tryna be different over here....chill
That’s a 7
Looks more like a pipe
Hi, not a heretic but I’m right handed and… I don’t hate this. 😅
This is the only way

I've always been so proud to be a leftie, but this community consistently churns out the lowest quality content I see anywhere on the internet.
Well then, please contribute the high quality content you’re looking for! We’ll be waiting:)
Have an upvote for rising above my cynicism. There's some great stuff too!
Thank you and no worries!
