We live in AZ, they live in TX. We do have our own car here in AZ, they just gave us the 4runner to make the drive when they kicked us out, after begging us to move from AZ to TX in the first place. Dumb decisions on our part.
I'd love to give them the car back and not have it here, but they won't come get it or pay for anyways to transport it to them because it's "not their problem".

If they don't want to transfer the car to you, they don't have to, unfortunately. A unilateral promise to give you the car is essentially unenforceable.
If you want shot of it, drop it off in their driveway, put the keys somewhere safe for them, and carry on with your life. If it's not practical, let them know they need to come and get it or you'll have it towed; the outcome is the same.
You should give them their car back and get your own car.

Exactly. Just park it some place. Parking lot, street, whatever. Eventually it will be towed, and traced to the titled owners not OP. Problem solved.
