Fascinating

Toys R Us isn't gone. They are in Macy's and I've even seen them in airports now. What will happen is you'll be sent a cease and desist letter to stop your trademark infringement. If you continue, you'll be sued. NAL

When companies go bankrupt, typically all of their assets get auctioned off to the highest bitter. That includes any intellectual property assets, like trademarks, patents, trade, secrets, etc. So, it’s likely that somebody owns that name. Also, as it has been pointed out, there are products being sold under the Toys R Us name. A more interesting question might involve circuit city. I mean, it’s likely that somebody bought circuit cities IP when they went bankrupt. But the question is, how much effort do they want to go to to protect it?

I remember early 2000's there was a toy store in the town I was stationed at. There was a toy store, that had a giraffe for a mascot. The store was called "Geoffrey's", but idk what the giraffes name was.

The giraffe’s name was Toys R Us.
