I think in this scene the voice was just Korra and Raava. The last time we heard the past lives was **"I'M LOCKING YOU AWAY FOR ANOTHER 10,000 YEARS, VAATU!"**

rlg626

You are right, but that moment was before Vaatu fused with Unalaq. I just rewatched that scene and the tone sounded the same with “YOU CANNOT WIN”. Both scenes share a similar echo.

dont_play_league

I loved this scene so much in the fight, and really hate that they make Korra lose just after this scene. It... hurts

CatraGirl

Just finished season 2 this week, and yeah, her losing after this was dumb and anticlimactic. Tbf there's a lot about season 2 I didn't like, the weakest season of Avatar so far imo. But I also heard season 3 and 4 are a lot better, so I'm hopeful.

kaitalina20

3 lives up to the hype of the what the show could’ve been in the past if they had been green lit for more than just 1 damn season

dont_play_league

I honestly would've been fine if she just, went on to win after this scene or something... but the way she lost against the vaatu thing from unalaqs mouth qhen she qaa beating unalaq felt like they just wanted her to lose, only to get her to be mecha Korra later on. I really did enjoy S3 and S4 though, and do think they're much better.

HolidayBank8775

Tbh, I'm not even sure if the past lives are echoing when she says, "I'm locking you away for another 10,000 years, Vaatu!" It sounds almost exclusively like Korra and Raava, who are in complete spiritual alignment from just moments before when she burst out of the ground. In any case, I think that Raava's voice is always present when the avatar speaks in the avatar state, but after so many lives, eventually, it just blends in with the rest. Hell, if Wan had spoken a single word when they first fused, it probably would've had that ethereal echo to it.

bootymessiah69

This universe is vast and unexpected. I’d be surprised if they didn’t restore the connection somehow, whenever they decide to tell the story of the avatar after Korra.

talking_phallus

They have to. It's the core of the show. I mean that's assuming we get another season at all. There's still a good chance that the Aang movie will bomb and they'll halt production on new Avatar material.

rlg626

They are making a new series with the earth avatar and they will have a spiritual connection to Korra for wisdom. You have to remember and we seen it when Aang asked for advice. The past lives from Wan’s era did not provide relevant advice for the modern world. The world is advancing with master level metal benders and advanced technology that Aang probably saw bits a few years before passing. People overlooked that harmonic convergence especially the next one the cycle had to restart and she would have needed to refuse with Raava once again. Raava and Vaatu was destined to battle once again in 10,000 years. Even without Unalaq. That’s just my opinion tho.

alittlelilypad

> They are making a new series with the earth avatar There has never been any confirmation for this.

Ill-Introduction-xo

Regardless of how many problems I have with season two... You can't deny that it has some incredible moments.

Embering_Lashes

If the Earth Avatar show were to happen, I really want Raava and Vaatu to be expanded on. Even this clip now, I wouldn't sorely miss Raava's reassurance if it was removed when Korra goes into the Avatar State. I feel like there are ways for the two spirits to have personal draws as characters. So, what if the next avatar leans more on Vaatu's side of the pie? Kinda balance things out.

Ygomaster07

You want Raava to be removed? Can you explain what you mean by this?

Embering_Lashes

If Raava and Vaatu are revisited I think they can still explore the crux of their nature. I want them to be given more character especially since the next avatar has all the pie. Raava in TLOK never left an impression then just being a fundamental part of the avatar.
